Home to a Sydney builder, this recently built two-bedroom Bondi Junction apartment has been imbued with a cool, luxe bachelor pad vibe courtesy of interior stylist Caine Hodder of Caine Anthony Design. A dark colour palette, Versace bedding, and statement furniture from Timothy Oulton and Coco Republic add to the high-end mix.
“My client wanted something comfortable and stylish. The dark colour palette created the luxury, masculine feel for the apartment. It was a small space overall but with the right selection of tones and product, the overall design feels very coherent and luxurious,” says Caine.

A rather inviting charcoal velvet Timothy Oulton sofa takes pride of place in the lounge room – accessorised with a series of neutral textured cushions in tan and blue. And nearby sits a Globewest Livorno concrete dining table paired with four studded leather dining chairs from Coco Republic.

A Paul Blackmore artwork from Arthouse Co makes a bold statement in the dining area and its inky palette is a perfect complement to the space. “It was the final piece selected for the living room and both the style of the image and the palette couldn’t be more perfect,” says Caine.

Opposite the living space the hallway features a round copper tarnished mirror and black console – both from Papaya. “I wanted to introduce the mirror to help bounce light into the hallway of the apartment, but it’s also perfectly positioned to reflect the artwork on the opposite wall,” says Caine. The copper detailing adds a touch of drama that would be absent were it a clean more traditional style.

The master bedroom features a black studded bedhead, inky hued Versace bedding from Palazzo Collezioni and a pair of Stelzen lamps from Arthouse Co. “The chrome effect of the lamp shade works perfectly with the colour palette when the lamps are off, and they offer great mood lighting when they are switched on,” says Caine who liked the lamp so much that he featured it in the main living area in the floor version too.

As for his general approach to design, the stylist brings a luxury feel to all of his work using colour, texture and statement styling pieces. “I always love to add elements of interest, being artwork or sculptures or unique décor items.”
