New Art Series hotel ‘The Fantauzzo’ opens in Brisbane

Brisbane is fast becoming a chic accomodation hot spot if its recent offerings are anything to go by. First there was the W Brisbane, then there was The Calile Hotel, a stunning urban resort, and this week sees a new Art Series hotel enter the mix, ‘The Fantauzzo.’

Australia’s eighth Art Series hotel, the design is inspired by the work of the celebrated Australian photorealistic painter Vincent Fantauzzo. Carved into the cliff under Brisbane’s iconic Story Bridge, the hotel is filled with the painter’s work including six original pieces and more than 500 giclée prints.

“The hotel gives all guests the chance to connect with art and immerse themselves in a really creative experience,” says Vincent of the offering that is also running complimentary art tours for guests alongside in-room art channels and libraries that look more closely at the artist’s work.

The six-storey $100m hotel features 166 suites, a casual Italian eatery ‘Polpetta,’ a rooftop pool and bar, gym, high-tech function rooms and fabulous views of the Brisbane River and CBD.

SJB are responsible for the dark, muted interiors that eschew the typical ‘gallery white’ in acting as a backdrop for Vincent’s work. The building’s interior design also includes plenty of raw concrete finishes alongside black glass and tiles while natural rock and timber allude to the nearby cliff face and external façade too.

“It’s very exciting that we can finally share this stunning property, the first Art Series hotel to open under our management, with guests visiting Brisbane from other parts of Queensland, interstate and overseas,” says Accor chief operating officer Pacific, Simon McGrath.
