The Rapid Renovation Challenge – Final Reveals

It’s Week 8, Day 2 of the rapid renovation challenge with Australia’s rapid renovation expert, Naomi Findlay and gosh we are so close to reaching the end of this amazing transformation!

On Mondaywe took a look at the updated and completely modernised main bathroom and the chic master bedroom. Naomi explained the changes she’s made, both big and small, and how both spaces have been designed to maximise value and appeal to the widest segment of the market possible.

Today, we check out the newly transformed dining room and Naomi explains how she’s streamlined the space to make it more modern. She also explains how a well dressed window can make all the difference when it comes to first impressions. We also get our first look at the completely rejuvenated entertainers kitchen. Naomi walks us through the process of how the team created ‘flow’ through the kitchen and into the dining area and added value with clever features and a scaled back aesthetic.

The Rapid Renovation Challenge – The first reveal

Welcome back to Week 7 of the rapid renovation challenge with Australia’s rapid renovation expert, Naomi Findlay. We really are on the down hill stretch now with the first of the room reveals!

On Monday we checked out the exisiting laundry and how Naomi transformed it from unused space with a single set of taps and a tub to a gorgeous second bathroom, complete with toilet and massive shower.

Today, we’ve got the very first of the room reveals where Naomi shows off the finished product from 4 weeks of hard slog. Also on site is Colleen, the real estate agent who originally valued the property (and has managed the lease for the past few years) and Stuart Zadel from Zadel Property Education.

Colleen, who originally valued the property at around $800k, is getting her first glimpse of the new and refreshed exterior and interiors. Naomi walks Colleen and Stuart through the entry way and primary living space and we’re given a flashback to how it looked initially and how its been transformed. The Rapid Renovation Challenge – Hall and Kitchen

Welcome to Week 6 of the rapid renovation challenge with Australia’s rapid renovation expert, Naomi Findlay. This week we’ll be taking a look at the hall, kitchen AND living areas. PHEW! We’ve got a mega load of content to share with you and you’ll get a really strong idea on the direction in which the renovation is heading.

To give you a quick recap, last week we followed Naomi and the team as they got to work on the dining room and exteriors of the property to update, refresh and create a more functional space for eating and family time.

Today, the team is tackling the kitchen and hall. Naomi shares how she plans to update the flow of the kitchen to create a seamless kitchen/dining space (while also getting ride of the infamous golden arches).

She also shows us how she’s transformed the hall from a shrine to the 1970’s, complete with slate tiled floors, to a clean, modern connecting pathway.

You can check out the progress made by the team below.

Make sure to pop back in on Wednesday to check out the living areas.

The Rapid Renovation Challenge – The Dining Room

It’s Day 2, Week 4 of the Rapid Renovation Challenge and today we are diving into the dining room. If you remember back to Week 1, we got our first look inside the property and checked out the existing dining area. While it’s a great size with some very workable dimensions, there was one very obvious feature that was dating the space: the arches, all four of them. This property really did abound with arches, a reminder from when the property was first updated.

Naomi’s primary focus when updating the dining area was to remove the arches and modernise the space, which she did by working with her chippie to square them off which immediately changed the whole feel of the dining area.

The new look dining area is fresh, clean and modern with nary an arch in sight. Naomi has worked her magic to create a space that suits both a young family and downsizer, the two target markets for the property.

The Rapid Renovation Challenge – Introducing the bedroom(s)

Welcome back to Day 1, Week 4 of the rapid renovation challenge with Australia’s rapid renovation expert, Naomi Findlay. Last week, we followed Naomi and the team as they got to work on the existing bathrooms, completely making over the original fixtures and features to create a family friendly and functional space that’s also got plenty of appeal for the downsizer (Naomi’s other target market).

Today, the team is tackling the bedrooms to update and create more storage, space and ‘flow’. Naomi shares what she’s going to keep, what’s going in the skip and the importance of project management (and correct storage) to your reno.

The Rapid Renovation Challenge – The bathroom continued

Welcome back to Day 2, Week 3 of the rapid renovation challenge with Australia’s rapid renovation expert, Naomi Findlay. On Monday, we took a wander through the existing bathrooms and started to share Naomi’s plans for the space, her decision making process and why it’s always so important to consider your market when making any (and every) decision during your reno.

Naomi also reveals one of the biggest challenges she faces during this reno: keeping both target markets happy. That is the young family for whom a three bedroom property close to schools and other amenities is super appealing and the down-sizer who may be looking to move into a smaller property but one that still offers all the necessary mod-cons. Two very diverse markets, both of which need to be considered in every aspect of the renovation itself.

You can see the progress made for yourself below with images and the videos where Naomi explains the process and what her team are doing to meet their goals.

The Rapid Renovation Challenge – Complete bathroom overhaul

It’s week 3 of the rapid renovation challenge with Australia’s rapid renovation expert, Naomi Findlay. Last week, we took a look inside the property, in the Sydney suburb of Heathcote, and got our first look at the existing kitchen and bathroombedrooms and utilities. In week 1, we checked out the dining and living areas and found out what Naomi is hoping to achieve with this rapid renovation makeover.

This week, we’re diving right in and following the renovation process for the existing bathroom. If you can cast your mind back to last week, you’ll remember that the current bathroom is complete with all its original fixtures, including a very fetching shade of peach tile for the walls and mission brown for the floor. While Naomi won’t be moving anything around, she will be giving the bathroom a complete makeover to improve both functionality and aesthetics. See ya later water damaged, minimal storage vanity and hello brand new, family friendly bathroom fixtures that will transform the space.

The Rapid Renovation Challenge – The Kitchen And Bathroom

Welcome back to week 2 of the Rapid Renovation Challenge. Last week we introduced you to the property that our very own Naomi Findlay is giving  the ‘rapid reno’ treatment. The 3 bedroom, weatherboard family home in the Sydney suburb of Heathcote was complete with all its exisiting, original features, that is before Naomi got her hands on it!

We also gave you the first look inside the property and Naomi walked you through the main living and dining areas, complete with plenty of mission brown paint and ‘classic’ arched doorways. This week, we’ll be taking a look at the kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms and utilities and Naomi will be sharing her goals for each space.

The existing kitchen (below) continues the ‘brown’ theme thanks to the brown marble bench tops and ply cabinetry but is a great size, something which Naomi feels will make her job that little bit easier as an extension isn’t needed. There’s a couple of hidden suprises in store however but nothing that the team can’t handle in the quest for the creation of a modern, open plan, family friendly kitchen space.
