Stylist Natalie Walton’s edit of 20 essentials in new e-store

With so many interior brands and products on the market (we really are spoilt for choice!) navigating the maze can be overwhelming – who hasn’t deliberated over a homewares purchase?! Recognising this, writer and stylist Natalie Walton has curated a range of 20 chic home basics called ‘Everyday Essentials’ designed to simplify your homewares shopping. You can find them at her brand new online store, Imprint House.

“Since the rise of online shopping and social media, people are often drowning in choice. I wanted to simplify that process. Consequently, the launch collection – Everyday Essentials – provides one option for 20 key categories. Also, these are items that can be used in at least three ways and work just as well in a city home as a country house or a place on the coast. Everything has been selected to last for years to come too – in the style stakes and also due to the timeless choice of materials chosen,” adds Natalie, who blogs at Daily Imprint.

It was through the process of moving home several times that Natalie noticed a pattern in the items she held onto each time. “Invariably they were neutral – as they worked in various interiors and with other decorative items – and made from natural materials, such as linen, wool, ceramic. When you move house, your belongings have to undergo an editing process and you soon learn that simple shapes and classic lines are your friends. They make the decorating process so much easier.

“It’s time to simplify the art of creating a home. Too often places have cushion covers, towels and tableware that have passed their use-by-date. Or key items are missing, such as a simple-shaped vase to suit a range of flowers. Also, many places lack the necessary texture to help create warmth and interest in a home. Using blankets, throws and sheepskin rugs as well as reindeer hides are a good neutral way to instantly add a cosy feel to places,” says the former deputy editor of Real Living.

The chic, neutral range is infused with quality too as Natalie doesn’t like to buy things twice. “I want household items to last for years and while I enjoy rearranging my home from time to time, I’ve found when pieces are neutral they can work anywhere – such as a blanket that’s just as suitable for a child’s room as an adult’s space,” says Natalie.

“It’s important that you feel good when you walk into a room. That every item, even when it’s practical, is beautiful. You shouldn’t underestimate the effect this has on your relationship to your home, and your sense of general well-being and happiness,” she says.

We couldn’t agree more.
