Can you give Louise her first foot in the door of the interiors industry?

Last week I met (well, virtually) design graduate and Interiors Addict fan Louise Reeves, who is desperately looking for her first break in the industry. Can you help?

Check out these pictures of a bachelor pad she decorated and styled for her friend. The girl has potential, right?!

The 23 year old, who graduated from the prestigious Design Centre Enmore in November, says: “My dream is to have my own business; a homewares and furniture store in Sydney that I could run my interior design service out of. I would also love to get into product design and design furniture. But right now I am looking for paid or unpaid work, anything to gain experience and get my foot in the door.

“I am more partial to the decoration side of interiors as opposed to construction so to work with likeminded people would be fantastic. I am really willing to do any kind of work in order to gain access to the industry and understand that I will have to work my way up from the bottom.”

Louise describes her style as eclectic, bold and modern. “I love to use a healthy dose of colour and pattern and believe that the best spaces can come about by taking risks and pushing boundaries. I am inspired by the elegance of Hollywood regency and vintage Art Deco decor and, in my travels to Sweden, by the beautiful simplicity of Scandinavian design.

“My favourite designers are Brendan Wong, Kelly Wearstler, Greg Natale, Thomas Hamel, Jonathan Adler, Burley Katon Halliday and Tom Dixon.”

She got off to a great start by winning a ticket to a seminar with Melinda Ashton Turner and Chelsea Hing at decoration + design later this week, in an Interiors Addict giveaway. If you can offer Louise any work experience, an internship, mentoring or assisting work, please email Jen at [email protected]
