Illustrator Megan Hess designs penthouse in first interiors job

Internationally renowned fashion illustrator Megan Hess is making the move to interiors, styling one of the two luxurious penthouses at Mirvac’s Array in Melbourne’s Yarra’s Edge precinct.

Briefed to create something elegant, contemporary and chic, Megan will select all of the penthouse’s interiors including artwork, furnishings and homewares. She will also be creating a range of bespoke pieces, consisting of wallpaper and cushions, which will bring her fashion illustrations to life.

Famed for her work on the Sex and the City book cover and with huge names such as Chanel, Dior and Vanity Fair, a move into interiors is something Megan’s been building towards for quite some time. “Bringing my illustrations to life in a physical space and creating a home that feels like a living work of art was always going to be the natural next step to me. To be given such a beautiful blank canvas and free rein to create a high fashion home above Melbourne – a truly chic and artistic city – is a dream come true.”

Mirvac Group’s executive residential director John Carfi, says the partnership with Megan was in response to a strong demand among premium purchasers for exclusive properties that cannot be replicated. “Megan is one of the most coveted and in-demand illustrators in the fashion world. It is a coup to secure her and an honour that her first major interiors project is Array by Mirvac. The Array penthouses will be two of Melbourne’s most incredible properties when complete, offering incredible views of Melbourne’s CBD, and Megan’s touch will elevate it to a new level. We can’t wait to reveal the final product.”

Currently immersed in the design process, Megan and Mirvac will unveil the completed property next year.
