Mrs Darcy’s Kellie Collis: the stylish girl behind a stylish brand

Funky florals and pretty patterns, all with a healthy splash of colour, is a good description of Mrs Darcy’s range of cushions, textiles and other assorted treats.

Kellie Collis

Kellie Collis is the stylish mastermind behind the growing brand. Although she comes from a corporate background (you’d never know it to look at this fashionista!), Kellie has always had a passion for textiles and design, it just took a while for her to realise she could pursue it as a career. Over time, my desire and interest in forging a business out of my passion for this industry blossomed, and here I am!”

Kellie’s foray into textiles and design started with her interiors blog, Ada & Darcy, which grew into an online store, and eventually inspired her to launch her own collection, Mrs Darcy, in 2011. The names are an homage to her “firecracker” nan, Doreen Ada Darcy, who Kellie says was a great inspiration and someone who helped her become the person she is today. “She always told me to be my own person, which is what I also wanted for Mrs Darcy.”

She is naturally drawn to colour and pattern, and has a real love of flowers and feminine pieces. “No matter what I do, I always find myself falling back to bold, beautiful and fun florals,” she says.

I had always wanted to produce my concepts end to end and I did research in printing and fabric options to bring Mrs Darcy textiles to life. It started with a small concept to create beautiful and fun cushions, and over time has expanded into an extensive range of beautiful lifestyle products.”

All the textiles in the Mrs Darcy range are designed exclusively for the brand. Kellie draws a lot of inspiration from fashion designers, with her current favourites being Mary Katrantzou and Lanvin. “What I love about great fashion designers is their ability to reinvent themselves on an ongoing basis, yet fundamentally the design foundation that they built their success on is consistent.”

The Mrs Darcy range has expanded in the last few months to include a host of products, like loungewear, all in signature floral prints, as well as candles in pretty glass jars, and scented hand creams. Kellie says expanding the range was always part of her plan, and the the coming 12 months will see reed diffusers, bedding and cosmetic bags added too.

Fashion is absolutely on the cards,” she adds. “Time is our only restriction!”
