Bring the ocean inside with new prints from DanielleX

An Interiors Addict favourite, Sydney-based visual artist Danielle Cross is back with a gorgeous range of limited edition, ocean-themed fine art prints ideal for summer interiors.

“Since we last talked, I have launched my fine art prints, added a number of stockists throughout Australia and also signature leather hanging straps to my round, original artworks,” says Danielle. She recently moved to a new studio space in Sydney’s Bronte Beach which perhaps explains the seaside aesthetic of the new collection.

With a background in interior design, the artist’s works are the perfect complement to modern interiors. “I have always been creative and painted. I studied interiors at Enmore Design Centre in Sydney and worked up until my daughter Marley was born before making a move to Perth for four years,” says Danielle.

It was in the throes of new motherhood that Danielle fully explored painting as a creative outlet. “Initially I sold a couple of original artworks by accident and when I returned to Sydney I held a pop up art show and sold almost the entire collection!”

“Bold, abstract, layered and emotive,” is how Danielle describes her work, that utilises custom laser-cut birch timber rounds, canvas, acrylic and enamel paint and the aforementioned leather hanging straps.

As for the future, Danielle will be hosting a pop up exhibition at The Design Twins‘ space in Sydney’s St Peters shortly. “Also in the pipeline is an exhibition in Los Angeles in the middle of the year,” says Danielle. Exciting times indeed!

Young artist’s work inspired by European travels

Artist Danielle Cross’s latest exhibition, Catalan Stripes, is a visual journey of her travels through the Catalan and Pyrenees-Orientales area on the border of France and Spain, and you can see her work for one night only in Sydney this month.

Danielle Cross

It’s about innovative flair and creativity; the capacity to absorb and tolerate and the co-existence of the Catalan culture,” she told me. “The artworks represent an intersection of cultures and influences through colour, form, balance and process. Catalan Stripes captures an emotive memory in time and is a lesson on the value of earning your simplistic stripes!”
