The winner of November 7 Vignettes with The Wedding Nest

It’s @mozsas, otherwise known as Heidi O’Rourke. This is Heidi’s second win this year (she also won in February) which just goes to show that previous winners have just as much chance as anyone else. We feel the best person should win regardless!

It was a tough call as ever though, with Jacqui Scruby from The Wedding Nest describing the process as both fun and  torture! So much so, she has decided to also award a runner-up prize of a Mud Australia Nest bowl in Milk to @katherinedorrington from Perth.

“Thanks Jen and the #7vignettes community for embracing me as judge for such a fantastic competition. I knew I’d be judging some pretty great styling but I wasn’t expecting to be blown away by the romance of the stories behind some of the vignettes or the heartwarming support everyone gives each other.

“I unintentionally set challenging themes but I love that I did, as I couldn’t have wished for better entries! Such a tough decision but I have to award the prize to @mozsas for the most beautiful montage of vignettes that represented all that I loved about everyone’s entries — some vintage and romance, some abstract and literal and of course some flowers and glamour.”

Heidi wins two of these gorgeous lights thanks to The Wedding Nest. Heidi and Katherine, please contact me with your mailing address to claim your prize.

I’m already excited about next month and the Christmas edition, where we will have prizes every DAY as well as an overall winner. Look forward to revealing more soon!

We'd love you to share this list!

Penny Farthing Design House: helping up and coming artists sell their work

Penny Farthing Design House are bringing local artists’ work to a wider audience of customers and discovering some great up-and-comers, like Gabrijela Polic (whose latest work is pictured), in the process.

Still studying at the College of Fine Arts (COFA) in Paddington, Gabrijela’s prints of original pieces include embellishments in metallics and fine pen-work. Growing up in Sydney’s South, she credits her mother, Rose, with inspiring her to use her art for good, helping to place joy in the hearts of others.

She also fills her creative cup with the deeply emotive works of Del Kathryn Barton, Ross Bleckner and Jim Hodges. While she is immensely proud of everything she has learnt since starting art school 3 years ago, the 26 year-old is keenly aware there is more to be learnt along the way. She plans to become a full-time artist upon graduation and is currently experimenting with introducing a range of materials into her work including leathers, denim and fabrics.

New wedding registry wants to make your Pinterest dream home a reality

There’s a new wedding registry on the block and it’s all about styling your home, with ex Belle interior design editor Imogen Naylor on board to help newlyweds on their decorating journey.

We are different in almost every way from traditional registries,” says co-founder Jacqui Scruby. “But the main difference is our style proposition – that a couple’s wedding registry should ‘style their home’ and make Pinterest dreams become a reality.”

Tips for combining his ‘n hers interior tastes for a happy home and a happy relationship

Or indeed his ‘n his or hers ‘n hers. We’re all inclusive here at Interiors Addict!

How to combine two people’s styles when moving in with your other half is something I’m often asked for advice on. I’m not sure I’m the best person to give it (or if my fiance would think so either). So I asked the girls at new Sydney wedding registry The Wedding Nest, for their top tips.

Their in-house interior stylist (former Belle interior design editor Imogen Naylor) works with their couples to collate a registry of gifts that will achieve a beautifully styled space true to both their individual styles.

Top tips

  1. Be involved together from the start! Even if one partner takes the lead, keep in mind that it’s best to consult the other partner regularly and ‘take them on the journey’ so they don’t block all the hard work by the time it’s well down the track.
  1. Plan! She might call this a mood board, he, a strategy, but either way the key here is agreeing on a vision. We invite couples to bring magazine cut-outs and to get pinning on Pinterest. Together they work through the collection to agree on a style or a selection of key pieces they both like that will suit their home.
