For sale: New Melbourne apartments a contrast of light & dark

Located just four kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD in the hipster hub of Brunswick, Neometro’s new development ‘Jewell Station’ (pitched as a new urban village) has just unveiled its interiors and they are rather divine. Designed by Melbourne-based practice Clare Cousins Architects, the interiors feature beautiful contrasts of light and dark – think natural oak timber floors and wardrobe doors, wool carpets in the bedrooms, soft grey feature walls and dark coloured kitchens.

“All Jewell Station apartments will have a sense of connection, this is something Neometro does extremely well by maximising the natural ventilation and light. They enhance spatial quality, while enriching the spaces’ liveability. We designed the interiors to reflect that, helping to maximise that feeling of connectivity,” says director Clare Cousins who also focussed heavily on balancing space with storage — a common dilemma with inner-city living.

“Predominantly we design residential homes, so for us this was about drawing on that experience and allowing it to influence our design on a smaller scale. Beautifully designed apartments should deliver the highest standard of living, without compromise. The interior features highly durable, hardwearing materials and a timeless design that will settle into its surrounding and age gracefully,” says Clare.

Jewell Station also features a private roof-top terrace, foyer, barbecue areas, alfresco dining alcoves, a shared kitchen garden and dedicated screened meditation and yoga deck – all open to the building’s occupants. “The well-appointed rooftop area helps build a sense of community within the building,” says Clare. The development also boasts public bike storage, bike paths, outdoor performance spaces, retail spaces and food and beverage offerings.
