Sydney event celebrates local furniture, homewares & food

Running from 3-5 June in Sydney’s Waterloo, Factory Design District is a three-day celebration of Australian designed and manufactured furniture, homewares and food and it’s a great chance to meet the makers too. From furniture to textiles, jewellery, food, wine and beer, the new event focusses on authentic, original, locally made, environmentally sustainable design and will feature exclusive talks, events, demos and dining from a broad range of exhibitors including Dinosaur Designs, Mud Australia, Bloodwood and ILANEL.

Dinosaur Designs

One of Australia’s biggest design success stories, Dinosaur Designs truly exemplifies this event. With every one of their pieces made by hand, and passing through many pairs in the process, each creation is slightly different and it’s just what makes their work so beautiful. This event is a great chance to get inside the designers’ heads and find out what is next for the brand.

ILANEL

ILANEL

ILANEL are a fabulous creator of bespoke lighting – come along to learn about their distinctive designs that furnish hotels, homes, offices, restaurants and clubs around the country. Another lighting design company, ISM Objects, will be exhibiting as part of the event too and with 75 per cent of its lighting manufactured in-house, it’s well worthy of a position on the bill.

Mud Australia

Renowned for their gorgeous porcelain creations that are made by hand in their Sydney factory, Mud Australia will be part of the event too. Visitors will learn about the handmade processes that result in their beautiful, minimalist-meets-artisan aesthetic.

Bloodwood

Bloodwood

With its industrial-themed interior, Newtown’s Bloodwood restaurant is a perfect pairing for the expo, and it’s one that will leave you feeling rather sated too. The restaurant will be showcasing its food and wine alongside Mecca Coffee, Continental Deli and many others. Continental Deli is a purveyor of delicious local goods –  their offering includes rare and delicious cheese and charcuterie but their great-looking tinned local produce is where they really shine. Yum!
