Online shopping fix: Mycuppatea

When I went to Japan for the first time earlier this year I was like a kid in a candy store. A haven for design, fashion and homewares, it is the go-to place for anything quirky, cute, or just plain out-there! So when I found out about new Australian e-boutique Mycuppatea, who source their collection predominantly from Japan, I was excited!

Online shopping fix: Sourced & Shared

When Megan de Beer left South Africa for Australia, she was determined to bring part of her hometown with her. So with a love of design and six years’ experience as an art director behind her, she decided to create Sourced & Shared. The Sydney-based online boutique sells an eclectic mix of home decor, bags and jewellery, all made in Megan’s native South Africa.

sourced and shared“South Africa is a huge cultural hotspot,” explains Megan. “We have nine official languages and an unusual mix of people sharing the same space. So it’s not surprising that in this wonderful country I gave my heart to design. There are just so many gorgeous, unusual goodies to be found around every street corner.”

Designing a lot of the products herself, as well as showcasing products from other South African designers, Sourced & Shared features a curated collection of homewares for the kitchen, living and bedroom, and personally I can’t go past the cute cheese holder (above)! Aiming to support small businesses, Megan also has taken great care in picking her designers, making sure she sells homewares from a range of South African artisans and makers.

Sourced & Shared ships around the world with free Australian shipping for orders over $75, and free international shipping for orders over $150.

Online shopping fix: poketdesign

When interior designer Kate Bisson decided to launch her own online homewares store, she wanted it to encapsulate her five favourite pastimes: eating, sleeping, reading, relaxing and entertaining!

Trays + Sculptures
With those five categories in mind, poketdesign was born; an online boutique that has everything from a chopping board for your food to a pillowcase to rest your head.

Cushions + Tea Towels

With a dream to make great products accessible to more people and to provide a service that’s not only a purchase but an experience, Kate sourced her carefully curated collection of homewares from around the world. “poketdesign’s raison d’être is to bring you beautiful, high quality products from around the world,” says Kate. “To make your world a happier place and help you enjoy the things you love to do.”

Vase + Button

Later this year, Kate will launch the partner component to the venture, a design and styling service.

Online shopping fix: Shelter 7

Happy Friday, readers! Who doesn’t love a bit of online shopping inspo as we count down to the weekend?!

Originally running a boutique for kids, Rebecca Meyer began receiving an increasing amount of requests from customers who wanted a lot of her  homewares range, but in adult versions!

So, a whole new concept was born as Shelter 7, a carefully curated collection of ethically made, well designed, unique and beautiful products with an emphasis on quality. “The Shelter 7 range is all about heirloom pieces,” explains Rebecca. “Classic investment pieces that stand the test of the ever-changing trends that emerge.”

Run in partnership with her husband, Shelter 7 is both an online boutique and a physical storefront in Geelong, VIC. Selling a wide variety of products — anything from ceramic dishes to art prints — they all weave into Rebecca’s obsession with the idea of shelters.

“We love the shelters we live in to be inspiring and welcoming, with a mixture of contemporary and vintage finds and local and overseas designers. So as a result, Shelter 7 is a carefully sourced collection of curiosities for the shelter we live and exist in.”
