The best places to buy Australian bed linen online

This always popular post has been updated for 2022.

L&M Home

Previously known as Linen & Moore, L&M Home was founded in 2000 and its bedding range has a focus on natural materials rich in texture and character. More of a forever purchase, the linen becomes softer with time and use, as does the soft hand-loomed cotton. And while the range features plenty of trend-based colours, it’s the classic stripes and textured pieces that are perfect for that chic, timeless aesthetic.

Castle & Things

We just love Rachel Castle’s fun but sophisticated linen range, mastering mix and match and making bright colour acceptably grown up. You’re probably familiar with her spotty sheets, velvet penny round cushions and limited edition screen printed tea towels, which get snapped up and framed as affordable art. Castle’s all about pops of colour and a bit of whimsy.

On the website you’ll also find beach towels, bags, sweatshirts, Rachel’s original artwork and prints and more. I have countless grey linen doona covers and my castle one is my fave. So much so I have now actually worn it out from years of washing and use!

Castle & Things

LinenMe

It’s the linen Jen currently has on her bed (a mix of rosa and mint ticking stripes, if you’re interested, and yes, pink and green should always be seen!). LinenMe only manufacture bed linen from 100% European stonewashed linen which is strong and supple, getting better with each use and wash. They say investing in a top quality European linen product is an investment in longevity. Their range of colours (especially for the stripe lovers!) is huge and as well as sheets. covers and pillowcases, they also sell table linen, throws, cushions, robes and much more!

I Love Linen

Launched in 2013, I Love Linen started as just bed linen and has expanded to include table linen, homewares, towels and more. When it comes to your bedroom textiles, you’ll find pure cotton and linen, organic bamboo, cushions, mattress toppers and more. Whether you’re after on-trend crumpled plain linen or crisp, white, hotel style sheets, it’s a great one-stop-shop! We love the mix of plains and patterns and layering extras like valances and pillowcases too – all great quality and at very reasonable prices.

The brand’s ‘3D Bundle Curator’ tool is a great feature of the site – you can build an entire bedroom look from the fitted sheet to the quilt cover and more. The tool gives you a visual which shows exactly how the selection will look on your bed.

I Love Linen

Kip&Co

Launched in Melbourne in 2012, Kip&Co was founded by sisters Kate Heppell and Hayley Pannekoecke and best buddy Alex McCabe. Their bold designs and trademark giant tassel throws have become cult bestsellers and they do a great limited edition collaboration too! Collection after collection, year after year, we love this brand more and more.

What started as a bright, colourful bedding brand, quickly expanded into a vibrant lifestyle brand, as the girls brought their fun and stylish aesthetic to products for every corner of the home, and every member of the family. Now with a global following, Kip&Co continues to be inspired by the girls’ simple passion for interiors that are full of joy, laughter and the colour of life.

Aura Home

Aura Home is now a very established brand, sold online as well as in the likes of Myer. Founded in 2000 by Tracie Ellis, and inspired by years of global meandering, they design everything in Melbourne, and while we seen many trends come and go, they believe it’s their forward-looking approach that sets them apart. They’ve evolved from muted, earthy tones to extravagant colour, and then to subtle pastels. We think they have just the right amount of pattern and texture these days!

They’ve expanded to sell things such as rugs, ceramics, towels and more, and now have a beautiful concept store in Malvern too. I’m a fan of their ticking stripes and tie-closure Maison quilt covers.

Cultiver

Another great small Aussie linen brand for high quality, classic, muted linen. They believe in products that last, great customer service and only use European flax linen. Founder Nicolle Sullivan believes using beautiful things in our everyday life can make us feel happier. Agreed! They also sell table linen, throws, cushions, robes and more. Shipping is free on every order and the brand offers free returns too.

Cultiver

In the Sac

Just another plain linen brand? Maybe! But In the Sac gets top marks for branding, packaging and colour choices! Great quality, great colours (and lovely stripes) and free shipping worldwide.

Sheridan

Of course, no Australian linen roundup is complete without Sheridan! People will tell you how the sheets they received as a wedding gift are still going strong, decades on! And I find their sheets just feel amazing too! Cotton, silk, linen, plain, patterned, modern, classic, colourful, from 250 to 1200 threadcount and everything in between, they have it all! Founded in 1967, Sheridan is a household name synonymous with quality (you’ll find them in Qantas first class, no less). In recent years they’ve done some great collaborations too. I find it’s a great place to buy bed covers (or coverlets) which can be tricky to find in Australia.

Sheridan

Sage x Clare

“We’re proud to design prints that unexpectedly and expertly clash with one another,” says Sage x Clare’s designer Phoebe Bell. From Moroccan stars to statement animal prints, hand drawn florals, handmade embroidery and 1970’s inspired colours and textures, this brand is one for the maximalists. Expert at the mix and match, we love how the brand’s sheet sets, quilt covers and cushions create a playful Bohemian vibe in the bedroom.

Sage and Clare

Ezibuy

Not the first place you’d expect to find fabulous bed linen but we like to think of it as a hidden gem. From florals to checks, plain and abstract designs, the line-up is strong but the prices are reasonable. For example, the 100% linen duvet cover below is priced at $200 which is a steal in our books! With waffle blankets, down duvet covers, pillows and more available, it really is a one-stop bedding shop.

Greenhouse Interiors

Featuring collaborations with contemporary Australian artists, the Greenhouse Interiors bedding range comes in limited edition, highly covetable, prints. The art embellished range is designed to be mixed and matched with all of the pieces available to purchase separately. The range’s 100 per cent cotton art emblazoned bed covers are always a sell-out.

Greenhouse Interiors

Sheet Society

Another clever purveyor of mix and match bed linen, Melbourne’s Sheet Society don’t believe in being forced to buy bed sheets in sets; all of its items are available for individual sale making the brand a great choice for a bespoke look. Specialising in bed sheets that are trend-driven in terms of colours, designs and fabrics, the brand’s core products are made from luxurious long-stable Eden Cotton and French flax Eve linen but there’s boucle, corduroy and waffle options too. Invisible zips, extra wide elastic, a deep pillow fold and a folded top edge are all standard features.

The Sheet Society

The Cover Collective

This VIC-based brand do luxury linen “without the la di da” and pride themselves on keeping it real! “We are not your typical linen brand and we don’t get all fancy pants on our customers, we just want to give them the best night’s sleep, night after night,” says founder Nikki Cap. They specialise in only 100% premium pure French linen. “Quite simply, it’s damn good!”

Society of Wanderers

This gorgeous bedding brand has a distinct retro vibe. There’s leopard print, gingham, floral patterns and more, all created in 100 per cent French flax linen. The brand also produces gorgeous napery and cushions as well as a lovely line-up of matching apparel.

Hi Jen, I absolutely love the coverlet in the image second from the bottom but have searched the country road website and can’t find it. Any ideas on where I can get this?

The challenge starts on 1 January 2015 and you must tag @interiorsaddict and @kipandco and use the hashtag #7vignettes. All the instructions can be found here if you’re new to it, and if you have questions, please pop them in the comments below and we will get back to you straight away!
Great post Jen! I just purchased the Feliz sprinkle quilt cover in gold with matching pillow cases xxx

Hello Jen, could you tell me where the bed stand / bed table in the last (adairs) picture is from? Or how do you call this kind of table? Im from Germany and im trying to get a similar here 🙂 Thanks so much for helping! xx, Tonia

Am I not seeing something here – where are the links to the The 10 best places to buy Australian bed linen online?

Hi Jen, If your after beautiful linen then check out lollilinen.com.au they have without doubt the best colour selection of linen bed sheets, Doona covers etc and great price too.

Thanks! I hadn’t thought of Country Road and I have now just ordered our new quilt cover. Subscribing to your blog now!

Hi Jen, it’s Alice from The Age. I would like to interview you re home Christmas decorating tips. What is the best way of contacting you please?

Hi, just wanted to leave a comment regarding Adairs Vintage Stonewash Linen range. I purchased a quilt cover set and two sets of sheets (queen size). After two years of having them, both the fitted sheets thinned out and holes began to form. I contacted head office and they replaced one fitted sheet (I had thrown the other one out on impulse). Yesterday I noticed one of the pillow cases is forming holes from thinning out – I regret spending all that money on a product that obviously is not superior. Although they do have frequent sales and you may be tempted to purchase the range; don’t. Use that money towards purchasing your bedding from sellers whose product are more genuine, as many listed above. I have noticed Bed Bath ‘n’ Table have just stocked pure linen bedding, again, I advise really consider purchasing from large companies such as these because the product will not be sustain every day use. I have to start from scratch after already spending over $500.

Hi Maria. You have probably done some research into your linen now, but I thought I would share anyway. Linen comes in various weights: usually 160g sm to 200 gsm, and the quality of the flax source and the methods used in manufacturing will also affect its longevity. Vintage generally means it’s machine stressed for softness which can increase the feathery feeling of the material but also weaken the strands. Stone washed is the more traditional way where you actually wash with pumice stones. Most of the boutique linen sellers usually describe this information on their websites. I sell 180gsm, French flax, Okeo-tex 100 certified stone washed linen because I honestly believe it’s a better product. You can check it out on http://www.bedloves.com.au. Good luck!

Goodness spend your money on sheridan!!! Their sales are NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING and its veryyyyy affordable….I have used Sheridan ONLY throughout my home for almost 40 years and still using my sheets that are 25 years old as well :p
( i give my well used ones to my married kids NO HOLES in anything either!!) Use gentle liquid soap too on your linen NOT that awful harsh soap powder, that’ll kill everything you own!! 🙂

For something really different I recently purchased a queen quilt cover from a website called evaandtheuniverse.com.au
They do beautiful photography on quilt covers….really a point of difference in the bed linen market.

I am in love with the kids Adair’s bedding but live in the United States. Is there no way to ship a bedding set here? Thank you!

Does anyone make sheets in Australia (not China/Bangladesh/Thailand etc). Would like to support locally made as well as locally designed – ideally from Australian plants too.

Rialto linen and towels are a tiny company in Melbourne that weave towels on site and manufacture sheets and quilt covers from Egyptian cotton imported from Egypt as apposed from Egyptian cotton imported from China…I believe the owners are Egyptians!

That’s a tough one! I haven’t yet come across anyone here who sells pure linen sheets made in Australia.

I purchase my linen sheets from Trisha Rose of Rough Linen in San Francisco (https://www.roughlinen.com/), and frankly they have been so worth the price. Her sheets are super huge, and like myself, she favours using flat sheets on the bed rather than those dreadful boxed, fitted ones! Price-wise, given the generosity of material used in Trish’s linen, I’d say her prices are on a par with the linen being sold here in Australia. Shipping is the biggest hurdle, but Trish offers a set shipping rate that does compete with AusPost and others, imo.

The great news is that Trish hails from Northern NSW, still has close family living here, regularly visits them, AND all her linen is made in the USA! If you can’t buy Aussie-made, then buy American.

Hi Jen. Have a look at “Sheets on the line” who advertise in Australian Country Style. I haven’t bought anything yet, but I love the darker colours they have (due to a large hairy dog on the bed), especially Storm. Great list anyway, keep up the good work!

Ps. I was considering Adairs until I read one of the above posts… Hale Mecantile & Co look amazing, but too many loose edges for the cat!

I haven’t checked out Bed, Bath & Table’s linen yet, but I recently bought a twin woollen doona set from them (you can tie two different weight doonas together in winter with tabs) and found I needed to buy the “top-end” range to get good quality (you get what you paid for…)

Thanks again.

Hello. I am disappointed as I wasn’t to buy Australian made and your blog title is a bit misleading. Would love to know which companies are producing the Australian made products.
Regards
Louise

Rialto linen and towels are Australia made products, they weave the towels in Braeside, Melbourne and manufacture a range of sheets, quilt covers ,pillow case from Egyptian cotton imported from Egypt( Not China)and the make to order!

Hi All!
I found this article really interesting, especially as I am an owner of an Australian bed and bath linen brand called DEIA Living http://www.deia-living.com.au

All our products are top quality white cotton with differing detailing in each design. Likewise our products are Australian designed and European to ensure the highest of quality, softest cotton and longest life of the product you purchase. Likewise we wanted to provide Australia a European made product without the $$$$$ price tags of some of the other companies in the market!

If you get the chance have a look at the site!

I would love you to have included the 100% certified organic cotton of Australian designed, artisan made Organic Bed Threads. All designs are fully reversible, made for adults and kids, exclusive designs, and free from harmful chemicals. Good for you and good for the planet. http://www.organicbedthreads.com A wonderful initiative from a single textile designer. So next time ? 🙂

I am looking for a bedspread (king size) and all I can find are quilt overs, bed covers or throws.

Do you know where/who I supplies bedspreads?

Sheridan use to be the place to go.

Can you help me?

I am looking for a way poorer products from Adairs and receive them in the U.S.A., specifically California

Hi, I am desperately trying to find Home Republic’s Picasso Quilt Cover in double for my grand daughter, any ideas where I can look. I have exhausted all local bed and Manchester places including Adairs, Bed Bath and Table etc. and Department stores. 🙁
Any help appreciated….. tks Angela.

I’m sorry but I can’t agree about Major Minor, their customer service and business practices in general are atrocious. One very bad dealing with them has put me off using them ever again.

I am such a ditz. Not taking into account that this article is 4 years old I searched through each website looking for exactly what I wanted, found it and purchased it WITHOUT double checking that the products I wanted were indeed made in Australia. I’ve since received them, unwrapped them, washed them and then learnt that they’re made in China. I was too busy imagining my ideal bed setting that I forgot about ethics in the process. I’ll add that I put no blame on the author Jen (who I think is awesome) and I accept full responsibility of my foolishness, grrr!

I highly recommend Aussie Company The Sheet Society. Beautiful deep fitted fitted linen and cotton (high quality) sheets, flat sheets, pillow cases and quilt covers in a beautiful range of colours. The sheets feel amazing and wash well. Prices are quite reasonable for the quality of the product (they sometimes have sales too) Their customer service is second to none and delivery is quick.

I recently bought from linenme.com.au and very happy with the product. They have good choice of colours and do custom sizes.

I am struggling to find non-toxic ink and or organic sheets not made in China, bangladesh or india. Does anyone know of any company that does this?

Prinka is an Australian company with beautiful organic and ethically made bedding. All our products are GOTS certified and made from premium organic cotton and non- toxic dyes. Available online

I have been to many of these places and whilst they are Australian people, they’re products are not made in Australia!
Most are manufactured in China, with Bangladesh and other countries sprinkled in

I read that many of you are dissappointed not fining Australian made bedding. As a brand owner myself, I often hear that question, too, and would like to share some information, as I believe many of the brands mentioned would love to produce bed linen in Australia.
Even though all of our sheets are 100% Australian cotton we sadly can’t produce them locally. The main reason is because there are no spinners in Australia capable of producing the yarn. That is why we have chosen a trustworthy Chinese factory that has met the rigorous requirements of an audit by the global Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) to produce all of the soft It-fits jersey sheets.

But who knows what the future will bring! We are for sure keeping an eye open:-) Stay in touch: https://www.it-fits.com.au

I can’t go past Bamboo Haus Australia for their 100% bamboo linen and their cloud like pillows! We will never sleep on anything else now. Would love to see them featured by you in the future
