The best places to buy Australian bed linen online

This always popular post has been updated for 2022.

L&M Home

Previously known as Linen & Moore, L&M Home was founded in 2000 and its bedding range has a focus on natural materials rich in texture and character. More of a forever purchase, the linen becomes softer with time and use, as does the soft hand-loomed cotton. And while the range features plenty of trend-based colours, it’s the classic stripes and textured pieces that are perfect for that chic, timeless aesthetic.

Castle & Things

We just love Rachel Castle’s fun but sophisticated linen range, mastering mix and match and making bright colour acceptably grown up. You’re probably familiar with her spotty sheets, velvet penny round cushions and limited edition screen printed tea towels, which get snapped up and framed as affordable art. Castle’s all about pops of colour and a bit of whimsy.

On the website you’ll also find beach towels, bags, sweatshirts, Rachel’s original artwork and prints and more. I have countless grey linen doona covers and my castle one is my fave. So much so I have now actually worn it out from years of washing and use!

Castle & Things

LinenMe

It’s the linen Jen currently has on her bed (a mix of rosa and mint ticking stripes, if you’re interested, and yes, pink and green should always be seen!). LinenMe only manufacture bed linen from 100% European stonewashed linen which is strong and supple, getting better with each use and wash. They say investing in a top quality European linen product is an investment in longevity. Their range of colours (especially for the stripe lovers!) is huge and as well as sheets. covers and pillowcases, they also sell table linen, throws, cushions, robes and much more!

I Love Linen

Launched in 2013, I Love Linen started as just bed linen and has expanded to include table linen, homewares, towels and more. When it comes to your bedroom textiles, you’ll find pure cotton and linen, organic bamboo, cushions, mattress toppers and more. Whether you’re after on-trend crumpled plain linen or crisp, white, hotel style sheets, it’s a great one-stop-shop! We love the mix of plains and patterns and layering extras like valances and pillowcases too – all great quality and at very reasonable prices.

The brand’s ‘3D Bundle Curator’ tool is a great feature of the site – you can build an entire bedroom look from the fitted sheet to the quilt cover and more. The tool gives you a visual which shows exactly how the selection will look on your bed.

I Love Linen

Kip&Co

Launched in Melbourne in 2012, Kip&Co was founded by sisters Kate Heppell and Hayley Pannekoecke and best buddy Alex McCabe. Their bold designs and trademark giant tassel throws have become cult bestsellers and they do a great limited edition collaboration too! Collection after collection, year after year, we love this brand more and more.

What started as a bright, colourful bedding brand, quickly expanded into a vibrant lifestyle brand, as the girls brought their fun and stylish aesthetic to products for every corner of the home, and every member of the family. Now with a global following, Kip&Co continues to be inspired by the girls’ simple passion for interiors that are full of joy, laughter and the colour of life.

Aura Home

Aura Home is now a very established brand, sold online as well as in the likes of Myer. Founded in 2000 by Tracie Ellis, and inspired by years of global meandering, they design everything in Melbourne, and while we seen many trends come and go, they believe it’s their forward-looking approach that sets them apart. They’ve evolved from muted, earthy tones to extravagant colour, and then to subtle pastels. We think they have just the right amount of pattern and texture these days!

They’ve expanded to sell things such as rugs, ceramics, towels and more, and now have a beautiful concept store in Malvern too. I’m a fan of their ticking stripes and tie-closure Maison quilt covers.

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is aura-maya_bedlinen_midnight-640x853.jpg

Cultiver

Another great small Aussie linen brand for high quality, classic, muted linen. They believe in products that last, great customer service and only use European flax linen. Founder Nicolle Sullivan believes using beautiful things in our everyday life can make us feel happier. Agreed! They also sell table linen, throws, cushions, robes and more. Shipping is free on every order and the brand offers free returns too.

Cultiver

In the Sac

Just another plain linen brand? Maybe! But In the Sac gets top marks for branding, packaging and colour choices! Great quality, great colours (and lovely stripes) and free shipping worldwide.

Sheridan

Of course, no Australian linen roundup is complete without Sheridan! People will tell you how the sheets they received as a wedding gift are still going strong, decades on! And I find their sheets just feel amazing too! Cotton, silk, linen, plain, patterned, modern, classic, colourful, from 250 to 1200 threadcount and everything in between, they have it all! Founded in 1967, Sheridan is a household name synonymous with quality (you’ll find them in Qantas first class, no less). In recent years they’ve done some great collaborations too. I find it’s a great place to buy bed covers (or coverlets) which can be tricky to find in Australia.

Sheridan

Sage x Clare

“We’re proud to design prints that unexpectedly and expertly clash with one another,” says Sage x Clare’s designer Phoebe Bell. From Moroccan stars to statement animal prints, hand drawn florals, handmade embroidery and 1970’s inspired colours and textures, this brand is one for the maximalists. Expert at the mix and match, we love how the brand’s sheet sets, quilt covers and cushions create a playful Bohemian vibe in the bedroom.

Sage and Clare

Ezibuy

Not the first place you’d expect to find fabulous bed linen but we like to think of it as a hidden gem. From florals to checks, plain and abstract designs, the line-up is strong but the prices are reasonable. For example, the 100% linen duvet cover below is priced at $200 which is a steal in our books! With waffle blankets, down duvet covers, pillows and more available, it really is a one-stop bedding shop.

Greenhouse Interiors

Featuring collaborations with contemporary Australian artists, the Greenhouse Interiors bedding range comes in limited edition, highly covetable, prints. The art embellished range is designed to be mixed and matched with all of the pieces available to purchase separately. The range’s 100 per cent cotton art emblazoned bed covers are always a sell-out.

Greenhouse Interiors

Sheet Society

Another clever purveyor of mix and match bed linen, Melbourne’s Sheet Society don’t believe in being forced to buy bed sheets in sets; all of its items are available for individual sale making the brand a great choice for a bespoke look. Specialising in bed sheets that are trend-driven in terms of colours, designs and fabrics, the brand’s core products are made from luxurious long-stable Eden Cotton and French flax Eve linen but there’s boucle, corduroy and waffle options too. Invisible zips, extra wide elastic, a deep pillow fold and a folded top edge are all standard features.

The Sheet Society

The Cover Collective

This VIC-based brand do luxury linen “without the la di da” and pride themselves on keeping it real! “We are not your typical linen brand and we don’t get all fancy pants on our customers, we just want to give them the best night’s sleep, night after night,” says founder Nikki Cap. They specialise in only 100% premium pure French linen. “Quite simply, it’s damn good!”

Society of Wanderers

This gorgeous bedding brand has a distinct retro vibe. There’s leopard print, gingham, floral patterns and more, all created in 100 per cent French flax linen. The brand also produces gorgeous napery and cushions as well as a lovely line-up of matching apparel.

Autumn bed linen trends: Our favourite new bedding

With temperatures starting to drop, we’re rather excited about the potential for bedroom restyling – out with summer’s light fabrics and colours and in with a much more autumnal vibe. With key colours including tobacco, navy, lilac and sage, this year’s autumn/winter looks are all about sumptuous texture.

L&M Home: Released recently, the brand’s new Massimo collection won’t win many awards for pushing the envelope but boy is it luxe. Comprised of soft cotton quilted in a linear design, this design would suit just about any interior style. Pair it with tobacco toned velvet cushions for a crisp autumn look.

Castle and Things: Rachel Castle’s latest collection features more of her iconic spots and stripes but this time with an autumn/winter colour update.

“We wanted our new autumn/winter range to squeal ‘snuggle’ factor, warmth with a twist and grown up but cosy. So, we’ve got little buttery spots and big cloudy stripes with the cosiest new butterscotch floral. This season tells our signature story – strictly edited modern classics with a cheeky little wink,” says Rachel Castle.

Aura Home: Available in navy and caramel, Aura’s new Maya chenille quilt cover draws inspiration from the old and the new. Made from 100 per cent pure cotton for, we love its textural, bohemian vibe.

Aura Home

Kip & Co: Titled ‘Magic Happens,’ the autumn Kip & Co. collection has plenty for the maximalists and for those who favour a more subdued aesthetic. And while there are myriad florals, texture abounds with cotton velvet, French linen, soft cotton, chunky blanket knits, and waffle fabrics rounding out the range.

Kip & Co.

Linen House: Constructed from fine cotton voile, and trimmed with frayed rustic edges, the new Elysian bedding from Linen House gets our tick of approval. We’re particularly fond of the on-trend orchid/lilac and eucalyptus colour ways.

The brand’s new Della design is much bolder – a hand-painted, gestural leaf design features in 1970’s inspired hues.

Mother’s Day: Stylists & designers reveal wish lists

With Mother’s Day on the doorstep, we caught up with some of our favourite mums in the interior space to find out what is on their wish lists this year. From Shaynna Blaze’s more serious request to Rachel Castle’s desire for a homemade card, these ideas might even spark inspiration for you in the lead-up to Sunday’s celebrations.

Shaynna Blaze
“Mine is a bit heavy but what I want for Mother’s Day is for every mum to feel safe knowing their daughter will be allowed to walk home and make it home. I want them to know their daughters are in a relationship without fear of violence and know the boys we raise will be men who have no tolerance for violence. I have all the material things I need but as a mother I want my daughter to have a life she chooses with equality and my son to be the decent man I know he is and call out other men on their bad behaviour. It sounds heavy but in reality it’s not much to ask for,” says interior designer and tv personality Shaynna Blaze who is mother to Jess and Carly.

Julia Green of Greenhouse Interiors
“I want sleep and a cup of tea in bed with the traditional homemade cards that I get every year where my kids write a poem or love letter to me. They are all in a shoe box and the first thing I’d grab if there was ever a fire,” says stylist and art curator Julia Green of Greenhouse Interiors.

Rachel Castle
“For Mother’s Day I want handmade cards and breakfast in bed and a book of some description, they do get creative and I love this!” says designer Rachel Castle.

Art Hide and Amigos de Hoy’s Bree Hay-Hendry and Kura Perkins
“As a twin-mum and the creative director of three brands, I’m always on the run. So, I might as well look good while I’m doing it! This Mother’s Day I’m dreaming of opening this pair of Isabel Marant sneakers,” says Bree Hay-Hendry of Art Hide and Amigos de Hoy.

“For the last two years, we’ve stopped buying ‘stuff’ on our special occasions, and rather, let the kids choose a special experience with us, one on one. For a recent birthday, I was spoiled with three different days out with my three, different daughters. This Mother’s Day, in between two big work trips away, I want to pare that back even more by letting them plan and cook a brunch or lunch for me (with my husband Tim as the head chef normally!) and just enjoy their enjoyment. I am at a point now, where there’s nothing that brings me greater joy than seeing the kick they get in spoiling and loving me,” says Kura Perkins.

Incy Interiors’ Kristy Withers
“Funnily enough I only said to my husband and children yesterday that I actually had an idea for them this year. Normally I just say the standard ‘I don’t mind’ but this year I have really gotten into gardening and I recently bought some amazing conifers so this year, for Mother’s Day, I want five black pots. I have become my own mother!” says Kristy Withers, founder of Incy Interiors.

Kip & Co’s Alex McCabe
“I’m enjoying the novelty of having three generation of ladies in our family so hope to do something with my mum and my daughter in one big shebang. We’re all pretty partial to dumplings so yum cha is high on the list of likely venues for the day. And champagne for me and mum – Quincy has another 17 years to wait until she can enjoy that side of things! Gift wise, I really love some of the traditional things – photos, flowers and, of course, some Kip & Co pyjamas to lounge around in for the afternoon. And I am big on a hand-written card too as taking the time to write a card gets a huge tick in my books!” says designer Alex McCabe of Kip & Co.

Amy’s lust list: September 2018

Given we’re in the enviable position of coming across gorgeous wares on the daily, I thought it was about time I shared the things I’ve been coveting of late. From Slim Aarons inspired photographic prints to the latest whimsical bed linen, there’s so much to love as we head into spring.

Kerrie Hess ‘Louis Giraffe’ print: The first animal print from the celebrated fashion illustrator, I’m just a little bit in love with the little (big!) guy. Louis the giraffe is statuesque in Paris, standing alongside a set of iconic Louis Vuitton luggage. Perfect for the little ones. From $275.

Feliz Home: ‘Dream Weaver’ is the latest collection from this Aussie bedding brand and I’m particularly taken with the delicate hand stitched details, fringing and whimsical patterns. The hand drawn travel-inspired motifs are rather gorgeous too – there are pillows that celebrate an array of Australian capital cities as well as Byron Bay. The range is made from pure Belgian linen and crisp organic cotton and is priced from $39.

Feliz Home

Urban Outfitters bath mats: From statement tigers to Moroccan inspired geometrics, the Urban Outfitters bath mats are perfect for injecting a bit of fun in the bathroom. From $49.

Stuart Cantor prints: These remind me so much of the late great Slim Aarons but they were captured by our very own Melbourne-based photographer Stuart Cantor and are available through Tigmi Trading. Shot in France and Italy, old school glamour abounds and don’t even get me started on the gorgeous warm tones.

Stuart Cantor prints

“Tigmi has a certain aesthetic and a warm colour palette. The range we selected is a combination of France and Italy. It’s that old world feeling. You look at the photos and are hopefully transported to another space,” says Stuart. From $800.

Spark & Burnish Ocean Plastic knobs: Made from ocean plastic and created by industrial designer Andrew Simpson of Vert Design, proceeds from the sale of these gorgeous cabinet handles are donated to the Great Barrier Reef Foundation and go towards raising money for marine conservation projects. $77 each.

Castle & Things Sweet Pea quilt cover: The latest from Rachel Castle is like spring for the bed. I absolutely adore the combination of floral and stripe. Love! From $135.

Big botanicals: Rachel Castle’s new FERN collection

Designed to complement existing Castle wares, the new FERN collection from Rachel Castle caught our eye recently, with its bold botanical vibe. “We’re constantly doodling this and that in the studio and we loved this little fern motif so much that we just bit the bullet and put together a full bedding range with it. We love it and so far our customers do too!  It’s playful and strong but still quite neutral if you can say this about a big overall motif pattern,” says Rachel.

1440x1080-castle_04

“The butterscotch palette is like a grey marle – it’s super easy to work back with every other colour in our range. We added the big lilac stripe and little spot because we reckon this is THE best colour pairing alongside the butterscotch.”

1440x1080-dogblanket-castle_09
That adorable sausage dog knitted cotton throw will be available online next week

A hallmark of the brand, Rachel’s pillowcases and cushions have always been some of the best around and they also happen to be some of her favourite pieces in the new range. “Our favourite pieces, like always, are the pillowcase combinations. The Fern and the Stripe and the Spot are all super gorgeous together. Throw in a plain velvet cushion in watermelon and it’s an instantly happy little story,” says Rachel.

1440x1080-edit-castle_01

“The beauty of our ranges is that they all mix and match.  We are very particular about making sure that something from this season works back perfectly with the last, and with the staple items that have been in our range for years.  So it’s never about a new full bed, it’s about adding accents to the ones you currently have.  All the new Fern pieces work back beautifully with our charcoal pegboard and multi spot ranges too. All the combinations are SUPER GOOD!” says Rachel with her trademark enthusiasm.

Win latest Rachel Castle bedding in gorgeous slate linen

The new printed and plain slate linen bedding from Castle was designed with the boys in mind but could equally be styled up for girls (little ones or grown-ups)!
 RC-MASTER-EDITED-22_7
Rachel Castle says: “We’re so excited about our new slate 100% linens, such a bedding staple. We wanted to make something that the boys would like too for once, as we are very much known for our love of a floral and a spot!
quilt_linen_charcoal_960x560
“So you can make a pretty bed with the floral and spot pillowcases and some soft pastel velvets, or a more masculine bed with the new linen stripes. Give it as much or as little colour as you like.”
pillowcase_linen_jumbospot_960x650
As a mother of a teenage boy, Rachel herself struggled with what to put on his bed. “The simplicity of a slate linen — all that texture and crinkly goodness, cause he’s never going to keep it neat — with a black velvet pillowcase and a simple blue stripe, was perfect,” she said. “The slate also happily takes you all through spring to summer, still warm but crisp.”
pillowcase_linen_flora_960x650

I have to say readers, my Castle grey linen sheet and quilt cover is some of the nicest I’ve slept in. So soft!

Available in double, queen and king. Quilt cover from $235, sheet from $130 and pillowcases $59 each.

Interview: How 2 mums opened homewares store after 7 kids

After long corporate careers, friends Sophie Croft and Julie Markovic decided to depart that world and open their gorgeous retail store Feathered Arbour in Melbourne’s Carlton North. An inspiring interiors emporium, the store stocks brands such as Rachel Castle, Zakkia, Pop & Scott, Kip & Co, Kate and Kate and Armadillo&Co. We caught up with the duo recently to find out how it all began.

unnamed

“I spent 20 years working for Myer with my last job being general manager of merchandise,” says Sophie, while Julie spent her corporate life crunching numbers in the IT business. Like so many before them, both women found motherhood was the impetus for opening their own small business. “I was lucky enough to be involved in one of Australia’s largest corporate sales when Myer was sold by Coles Myer to private equity. This was an amazing experience but at the end of this process I was done and pregnant with my second daughter. So I took a bit of a hiatus to just be a mum. I didn’t feel I could be the mum I wanted to be when my children were young if I had of stayed in the corporate world,” says Sophie, who soon found herself lost in the world of interiors and constantly returning to the idea of opening a retail space. “I wanted a balance in my life that I’m not sure I could have achieved staying in corporate and I secretly wanted to fulfil a childhood dream of owning my own shop.”

Julie came to the decision to depart the corporate world after having two children. “I realised I didn’t have the same passion for working in a large corporation. I packed up my Excel spreadsheet and went on to have two more children and spend some quality time at home watching them grow. Once my eldest started school I again had the desire to get involved in some projects, to keep my mind active, but knew the corporate world wouldn’t allow me to be the mother I wanted to be to my brood. I wanted to see the results of my hard work, rather than it being just fed up the line,” says Julie.

Rather fittingly, the pair met through their local primary school. “Both of us thrive on been busy and founds ourselves running the school fete together. We worked really well together and after doing this for a few years and with four of our combined seven children at school, we were both starting to look for something more,” says Sophie who, desperate to open a retail space and with her eye on an ideal location, shared her plans with Julie. “Within 24 hours, she asked whether I had thought of a business partner – the moon and stars really lined up at this point. We work really well together, we have really different but complementary skills and there is a deep respect for what each of us brings to the table. We speak 100 times a day, laugh lots and we love what we do. We have become amazing friends and so have our families – it just works!” says Sophie.

unnamed-2

While the store stocks an enviable line-up of brands, the product they are most passionate about is their collection of Australian art. “The talent that exists in Australia is incredible. Artwork is probably one of our favourite categories, working with people like Emma Cleine of Lumiere, Prudence Caroline, Lisa Lapointe and Armelle Habib, is really inspiring. Bonnie and Neil are a real favourite and popping into their studio on a regular basis is awesome as you can watch the product being created in front of your eyes,” says Sophie.

Rachel Castle’s new Festival range goes back to her roots

It’s hard to believe it’s been almost a decade since Rachel Castle and her inimitable designs burst onto the interiors scene. Always colourful and lots of fun, the latest collection is a homage to the signature designs that made her famous.

unnamed

“With our 10-year anniversary fast approaching, our latest little collection winks back to our origins – colour and pom poms and a lot of festivity!” says Rachel.

unnamed-5

There are woven knit striped cushions with pom poms –  “The best combo ever!” says Rachel, who has also designed a more grown-up jacquard weave triangle pattern too. We love its retro sensibility and 70’s colour way.

unnamed-7

Poms poms aren’t only for adults this season though with babies and kids catered for too. “The littlies are seriously fun to design for and we have the multi-spot pom pom single cotton blanket (110 x 150cm) for them. It’s ideal for cots and single beds.”

unnamed-4

The new large adult cotton knit jumbo blankets are pretty fabulous also. “They are great on the bed or sofa and go back with everything in our current range,” says Rachel of the super-sized blankets (130 x 180cm) that accommodate a king sized bed too.

unnamed-8Jumbo floor cushions

Very similar to Rachel’s iconic penny round cushions, the new jumbo velvet floor cushions are also lots of fun. “They’re like the penny rounds but only massive. Just fill them with bean bag beans and off you go. We use them as office chairs in our meetings!”

Rachel Castle’s reversible kids bedding

With her kids turning into teenagers, Rachel Castle couldn’t help but miss the once-daily ritual of tucking them into bed, reading to them and having a cuddle. So in an attempt to keep those memories alive she started designing kids bed linen. And seven years later she hasn’t stopped.

big-peach-heart-box-960

“It’s such a beautiful time for parents and I definitely miss it as mine get older. I guess this is what inspires me to keep making bed linen for the littles, I realise that time is so precious and it definitely doesn’t last.”

big-blue-heart-box2-960

big-blue-heart-box-960

Her latest bedding range of reversible quilts is made for kids stepping it up in the bed stakes, and what I mean by that is saying goodbye to the cot and hello to the grown up bed! “It’s an exciting time when the littles are big enough to sleep in a bed and parents are really keen to get the look right. Our new range of reversible quilts gives them big hearts for their first nights in a big bed, and then the option of a reverse pegboard spot for when they grow a little bigger and perhaps want a more grown up look. It’s really about the fun factor for kids too, being able to choose the hearts or the spots. As they get bigger they get so much more opinionated!”

big-peach-heart-box2-960

With one quilt featuring peach hearts and fluro pink spots, and the other, blue hearts and charcoal spots, they can easily be mixed and matched with Rachel’s expansive range. “We ensure that everything in our range works together — velvets, linens, stripes, bananas, alphabets, the more mixed the better we reckon. Our new Shop The Look section on our website clearly shows what we think works best for the various ranges we sell.”

FB_CastleOttoman_hero_1440

Not busy enough with a new bedding range, Rachel has also just released a collection of jumbo velvet floor cushions, which we absolutely love. If you’re not a fan of bean bags but love a big fluffy pouf for the floor, this is the one for you!

Win latest Rachel Castle grown up (but not TOO grown up) linen

Castle’s new 100% Belgian linen is dyed the softest ice grey you’ve ever seen, says Rachel Castle. “All wintery in winter but oh so summery in summer, I personally love sleeping in linen, and love the way it washes over time into that antique scrunchy ‘I’ve had it forever’ kind of look so I’m dead excited about this range. ”

We’re giving you the chance to win some (read how at the end of this post).

“Our quite serious and grown up bed (ooh, never let us grow up entirely!) still has a twinkle in its eye, the antique wash pillowcases to match come printed with rust clouds, charcoal scallops and our signature white spots,” Rachel adds.

“We’ve wanted to do linens for so long now. We needed to find the right supplier, the right linen, just the right mix of look and feel, and all for the right price (they’re excellent by the way), so we hope you love them too. A nod to classic with a big cheeky wink. Who said sophistication couldn’t be fun?”

Castle’s winter wonderland bedding range

Winter is all about getting in that snuggly bed! So to celebrate the colder months, Castle has reinterpreted their classic flower motif into a charcoal colour scheme, perfect for turning summer whites into a winter wonderland.

“It’s playful and serious all at once,” says founder Rachel Castle. “A little bit dark and moody, but crisp as a button, and works with every single colour we’ve ever done in our collection.”

With the aim to create a diverse and eclectic range that when bought looks as if you’ve been collecting for years, the charcoal flower print sits alongside other entires including their classic cottons, new linens and the softest little piece of mohair you’ll find.

“As usual we like our beds to look a little bit of this with a little bit of that,” explains Rachel. “So we’ve printed linen pillowcases with orange scallops and a big dreamy green cloud to pack a little retro colour punch. Our new mohair blend blanket has the longest tassels we could make, it’s a sexy little piece of furry colour for the bed or the sofa. And of course our base range of velvet pillowcases work with the winter florals in any colour combination.”

Colourful linen and velvet cushions from Castle

You know how there’s those artists and designers who in your eyes can just do no wrong?! Well Rachel Castle, of fun, colourful and whimsical brand Castle, is one such person.

Castle_Homepage_Cushions_4
Her new range of cushions and pillowcases are perfect for adding some variation to your living room and bedroom. I just love their simplicity; and how they focus on plush fabrics and full colours, rather than all those crazy patterns that seem to be everywhere at the moment.

I also love how Rachel explains the range: “If our new tightly edited cushion range had Show and Tell, this is what it would say. ‘Good morning everyone. I’m a true eclectic. Look how I chuck together a printed graphic linen with a flock spot, round with square, and tie it all together with an essential two-tone velvet. I’m light and I’m shade. I’m velvet and I’m linen. I’m sorbet coloured and cobalt spotted. I’m a bit of everything good rolled into one. Please sit on me, even though I’m not being very humble and love myself rotten.'”

The Tabletop Project day 2: Rachel Castle

Christmas is all about gathering together for a feast with your favourite people. Sydney furniture makers Mark Tuckey asked seven of their favourite creatives to create a Christmas table (Some are glitzy, some are glam, some are just plain dotty) and we’re sharing one with you each day this week.

Today, we have artist and bed linen queen Rachel Castle, director of Castle and Things. She used the Tripod Dining Table.

“We need Christmas prep to be quick and easy. We work right up until Christmas Eve, and some customers even drop by the office, and later at night by my house, to pick up orders. I’ve got to say the late last minuters are always the husbands, funny.

“I grab all the circles and offcuts I can from the office and on Christmas morning simply lay the table and then colour everything up with bits and bobs of paper and tinsel and streamers.

“A little spot, funny, totally puts whimsy into anything. My family however, are probably a little over the spot situation. Tough luck peoples, it’s just how we rock ‘n roll! At least I buy them nice presents to make up for it.”

With large and small paintings on linen, the series combines a love of bold brush strokes built over multiple layers and a never-ending obsession with punctuating colourful spots.

The new works include bold painted and screen printed elements, and as always, explore the relationship between form and colour that has become synonymous with Rachel’s painted works.
