The new house sale whose profits go to charity

Once again, brands and tradies have donated all the labour, land and materials for Henley and Villawood’s annual Good Friday Appeal house, and whoever buys this gorgeous new build will have the bonus feel good factor of knowing the proceeds go to The Royal Children’s Hospital.

Now open for inspection, the spectacular Vogue 34 by Henley (on land donated by Villawood) goes to auction with no reserve on 15 April 2022.

Comprising of five living areas, four spacious bedrooms, and an impressive master suite, the 34 sqm home comes fully furnished and can be a wonderful forever home with Henley’s 50-year structural guarantee.

Beautifully constructed on a 448mblock over eight months, the house includes a separate theatre, study and leisure areas.

Its gourmet kitchen showcases a glass splashback with feature window, Caesarstone benchtops, rear bench pot drawers, SMEG appliances, and even an expansive butler’s pantry.

A special addition to the full landscape package is the uniquely designed mini soccer pitch with goal.

“We’ve selected a prime site at our Redstone community in Sunbury, in the middle of Melbourne’s burgeoning north and western growth precincts. It’s close to our amazing Club Rathdowne, a sophisticated town centre, extensive parks and open space and it offers a great lifestyle,” says Rory Costelloe, executive director of Villawood Properties.

This year’s Charity House Auction represents Henley’s achievement of three decades building and donating homes, building the 43rd charity home for the Good Friday Appeal to date. It is the 13th year of Villawood generously donating land.

The house is open for inspection every Saturday and Sunday (11-to-12) and Wednesdays (6-to-7pm), at 12 Sacred Drive.

Fenton & Fenton’s online art auction: get ready to bid!

Fenton & Fenton will present an online art auction ‘Peace of Art’ this month, with all proceeds going to School’s a Gift – an Australian not-for-profit organisation that is helping impoverished Ethiopian children attend school. The auction will feature a diverse collection of Australian artists including Antoinette Ferwerda, Michael Bond, Carly Williams and Dion Horstmann, plus emerging artists too.

Peace of Art
The ‘Peace of Art’ auction pieces are a gorgeous, eclectic bunch

“To date, the charity has managed to help over 5,000 children access primary or secondary education, with over half of them girls. Our last Peace of Art event in 2016 exceeded expectations and raised $125,000, which was used to rebuild three primary schools that were unsafe and turning children away. Now these children are in high quality classrooms with access to clean water and toilets which is contributing to improved livelihoods and the empowerment of so many young people, particularly girls, who are usually the most disadvantaged,” says School’s a Gift founder Georgina Fenton.

Peace of Art
There are some fabulous works up for grabs!

Fenton & Fenton founder Lucy Fenton is equally excited about the prospect of raising even more money this year, and was elated at the number of pieces that have been donated. “We are overwhelmed by the support from the Australian art community, with over 60 artists having each donated a piece of art, featuring a number of our regular Fenton & Fenton contributors, as well as some newcomers to our stable,” says Lucy.

Peace of Art

Online bidding commences this Wednesday,, November 14 before wrapping up on November 22 and our Melbourne readers can peruse the pieces at Fenton & Fenton’s Prahran store until the auction period is over.

Good Friday charity auction: This new home could be yours!

With no reserve set, one lucky family will call this new-build home when it goes under the hammer as part of this year’s Good Friday Appeal for Melbourne’s Royal Children’s Hospital. Located in Geelong (Mt Duneed to be precise), the house sits on 599 square metres of land generously donated by Villawood Properties and built by Henley.

Constructed over five months, with more than 400 trades and suppliers donating their time and products, every dollar raised at auction will go to the Good Friday Appeal.

The lounge

“We are thrilled to deliver the Henley and Villawood Properties Charity Home Auction ahead of the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children’s Hospital, and we encourage any new or would-be home buyers to visit the house at an upcoming open for inspection,” says Henley’s managing director Peter Hayes.

Kitchen

“We are humbled by the continued generosity of our suppliers and tradespeople, who, year after year, donate their time to help create a stunning home to be auctioned off. In donating 100 per cent of the proceeds, it means a family has the opportunity to buy a quality house in a beautiful community for a good cause – and for most of us, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to donate such a significant amount of money to charity!” says Peter of the home that is located just 10 minutes from the Geelong CBD and 15 minutes from Victoria’s famed surf beaches.

Master bedroom

The home boasts four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a powder room, north-facing alfresco area, home theatre, study, butler’s pantry and a whopping five living areas! Other details include 40mm Caesarstone bench tops, high ceilings and SMEG stainless steel extra-large appliances. There is also timber-look flooring throughout, premium carpets and polished porcelain tiles plus ducted heating and air-conditioning and a security system.

Ensuite

The bathroom and ensuite both feature double vanities and extra-large showers with semi-frameless glass screens. And with window coverings to the bedrooms and bathrooms, flyscreens, a lock-up garage, clothes line, fencing and professionally landscaped front and rear gardens, the lucky new owner won’t have to do a thing!

Now in its second year, the initiative saw 36 Bentwood chairs decorated, adorned and in some cases completely reimagined into sculptural art pieces by Australian personalities from the worlds of television, radio, sport, fashion, design and interiors.

Created by the likes of Paul Hogan, Johanna Griggs, Melissa Doyle, Tim Cahill, John Sutton, Magdalena Roze, Donna Hay, Megan Morton and Vince Frost, a seven-day online sale provided an opportunity to purchase these one-of-a-kind creations at auction.

It raised significantly more funds than last year, with the highest contribution coming from the chair created by Better Homes & Gardens presenter Johanna Griggs, whose lovingly wool-wrapped chair sold for $2,975.
