Resident GP’s debut collection in marble and metallics

Having run their successful online homewares store Resident GP for over a year, owners Gabi Sidhu and Pawel Gaca longed to launch their own collection. And today, that dream become reality, with their debut range Linear being released.

“From the get go we wanted to create something luxurious and chic with a bit of an edge to reflect our current Resident GP brand,” explains Gabi. “Marble is very on-trend yet will always remain a classic as it brings a certain elegance into every home. For us, it felt like the perfect material to design our very first collection.”

[contextly_sidebar id=”i7rveSAFbdSrtgkpso4Q6EZDlsMfomCZ”]Creating a range of marble trays, platters, cups, pen holders and planters, the duo added that extra bit of luxe and charm through linear touches of copper and gold engravings. Beautiful and functional, their design process consisted of a lot of research, having never designed a homewares line before. “With myself having studied architecture and Pawel being an engineer, geometry and functionality were key when it came to designing the collection. That said, we had never designed homewares before. So coming up with the what, how and why happened with time and watching the business grow and seeing what customers liked and disliked. It’s been a huge learning process!”

When they realised what materials they wanted to work with (they chose marble for its natural beauty and sophistication) they took the plunge and just went for it! “Our design process really consisted of a lot of research, getting inspiration and then just playing with objects, shapes and lines. We got out big bits of cardboard and went nuts drawing lines in every direction until we felt happy with the look and feel. We then tweaked and tweaked until it was perfect!”

With prices starting at $89 for pen holders and going up to $175 for the large rectangular and round trays, they have also done a limited release of homewares in black marble, which we think is just that extra bit luxe!

Gift guide: beautiful art that won’t break the budget

I adore art and when it’s both gorgeous and affordable, well to me there’s no better gift! But with so many options on the market, finding that perfect piece (that doesn’t blow the budget!) can be hard. So I did the tough work for you and found a range of gifts that span all tastes, from the abstract to the animal.

Clockwise from top left:

1. This Elephant print by Farrah’s Stone is just a bit too cute. And at $20 you’ll have enough cash to get one for yourself and a loved one!

2.  Pretty and whimsical, this unique Lucky Wheel print by Kristina Krogh from Resident GP will add an understated artistic touch to your living space. Limited edition it retails for $149.

3. As an avid traveller Astella Designs’ Not All Those Who Wander print rings true. And at $35 it’s also a bargain!

4. I stumbled upon the quirky work of Tiff Manuell thanks to Olivia’s Fab Four and since then I’ve been a fan! Made from cut pieces of painted canvas on art card her Cactus cut canvas art is $170.

7 Vignettes October with Resident GP Homewares

Hooray! 7 Vignettes starts a week today and we have a great sponsor and guest judge on board in the form of stylish new online store, Resident GP Homewares. You could win a $200 voucher to spend with them. The hardest thing will be deciding what to spend it on! I’ve shared a few of my favourites.

resident gp 3

Resident GP is run by young Melbourne couple Gabi and Pawel. It’s fuelled by their love of design and craftsmanship and wanting to share their discoveries with anyone who is intrigued by unique and special goods for the home. Pawel is an engineer who has a high regard for all things practical and functional. Gabi studied architecture and has worked within the furniture and homewares industry for many years. She’s not so practical and tends to get carried away with the creative side of things!

“The name Resident GP was established as a union of our desire to help resolve your home décor and styling ailments along with the brains and brawn (Pawel’s also good at lifting boxes) behind this adventure,” Gabi says.

Here are the themes for next week, based on the sections of Resident GP’s online store. They’re a little broader than usual but very much open to interpretation. Will this make your task easier or harder, I wonder?!

Have you been looking for that one off piece or for something different for your home? Well look no further, I have found an online haven full of bespoke pieces.

Grey ombre dip dye napkins
I definitely need these Grey Ombre Dip Dye Napkins in my life! And they’re only $26.

Online homewares boutique Resident GP specialise in unique bespoke pieces for the home. Their products are sourced directly from a select group of independent designers from around the globe. The product range truly is different to any other online store I’ve perused (and trust me, I’m a serial shopper).

Salt & Spice Caddy made from concrete, $99.

Resident GP is run by the lovely Gabby and her partner Pawel. Originally from Perth, they now call Melbourne home and bask in all the creativity the city has to offer. Realising that so many homewares were mass-produced, Resident GP aims to provide its customers with one-of-a-kind items. “When we discovered we had the same bedside table as a friend all the way in London, we realised that the uniqueness in pieces for the home was slipping away and being replaced by mass-produced items,” explains Gabby. “We want customers to visit our store to search for that bespoke piece that has a magical story behind it, so that it becomes a talking point in your home.”

Marble bowl, $59.

Gabby continues: “There are so many independent artists and designers out there who are unbelievably talented and we feel people need to see their work. For us it’s fun to see the production process as it happens and be able to showcase their work.”

Bright Mosaic Cushion $86.

Gabby sees the interiors trends heading towards more unique one-off pieces. “We’re loving the industrial look too and freshening it up with bold pops of colour such as a great piece of art or brightly coloured cushions. Basically, colour, colour, colour! Gone are the days of the neutral palette, people are starting to embrace colour again which we think is fantastic!”

Ink cushion
Ink cushion for only $60.

There are definitely some exciting plans for the future as they are always sourcing new designers to showcase and will even be teaming up with some of them to create their own unique range, exclusive to Resident GP. Watch this space!

Resident GP is offering Interiors Addicts a 15% discount storewide for the next seven days! Simply enter INTERIORSADDICT as the promotional code online. There’s even free shipping on orders over $100. You can thank me later!
