Tradelink’s new taps are jewellery for your bathroom

Reflecting the the trend toward matte and metallic for bathroom finishings, Tradelink have released a range of tapware and accessories that match this. Available from this month, the Dorf Epic Bloc and Dorf Epic Splice bathroom mixers blend urbane glamour with sophistication.

NO FLOWERS FRONT FOCUSED

The tap is a sleek square shape with a black matte finish. Perfectly complementing it is the Bloc, a classy cubic handle. It is available in matte black, gold, rose gold (above) or copper. Tradelink are right in saying they’re “jewellery for the bathroom!”

You can change them as easily as you would jewellery too. Such an easy way to freshen up the bathroom.

Epic Splice - white - lifestyle

There’s also the option for a more traditional tap, as seen above, with the Splice. Available in white and black chrome they, like the Bloc, they are swappable, with both colours creating stylish yet understated looks.

In terms of practicalities, both taps have a 5-star WELS rating (6 litres per minute) and include an adjustable cartridge for added temperature and flow control. Their European SoftPEX hoses mean they’ll last the long haul, too.

They look best when paired with matching accessories, available from Tradelink. The Caroma Urbane collection includes towel rings and robe hooks in solid brass with a matte black finish.

The Bloc is priced at $579, the Splice $550, the towel ring $89 and the robe hook $42. For further information

Spring/Summer 2015 collection offers more than Salt&Pepper

Where to begin? Salt&Pepper has once again produced a vast and varying collection – from watercolour to pastel, marble to metallic, Scandi to sophisticated, all tastebuds will be satisfied.

Cumulus_0257

One of my personal favourites is the indigo and pale blue of the Cumulus collection. Paired with some rose gold cutlery from the Host range and you have some majestic, yet effortlessly summery dinnerware.

blue and rose gold group shot

If you want to extend the gold theme outside the food scene, giant alarm clocks and metal-framed lamps are the way to go. They even have scented candles in rose gold containers!

Marble_0233

The Marble range also deserves a noteworthy mention, because who doesn’t love marble (although it isn’t real marble!)? Plus it will team perfectly with all that gold decor and cutlery.

Eclectic_0236

Other ranges include the Metro, which brings minimalist measuring spoons, mixing bowls and spice racks into the kitchen, and Loft, a mix of wood and bold graphics. There’s also Café, an understated way to enjoy your tea or coffee at home with matching block colour cups and jugs, and Pastel, which has a more high-tea-in-an-English-manor-feel to it.

Copper and marble still reign in latest Country Road homewares

Copper, timber and marble: it seems this winning combination of colours and textures is going nowhere fast in homewares. Country Road are certainly still confident of their longevity judging by their latest gorgeous homewares drop, in store and online from today (Friday).

150625_CR_HOME_Spring0042

It’s all about sophisticated simplicity this spring. A pared back aesthetic focuses on beautiful sculptural pieces and cool tones balanced with copper and natural textures of wood and marble. Geometric handmade items like decorative metal cubes add a graphic measure to the home.

COUNTRY ROAD 150619_107

Scandinavian-inspired folded wooden trays are elegant and functional. Dinnerware features in Airforce blue and is complemented by black gloss bakeware and sculptural copper-plated serving utensils. Striped napery with metallic foil tips and neon highlights bring about a spring mood.

Cushions and throws (surely one of the brand’s real strengths) add interest in modern prints and textures. Monochrome patterns mix with tonal patchwork, with black mesh cushions balanced by grey marle throws. Offering a ‘70s feel is deep indigo quilted denim, while woven knit throws and cushions in lemon, pale pink and dove tie the colour palette together.

In soft charcoal and sea tones, linen bedding is key as the weather warms. Fluoro stitching and trims liven muted tones and natural textures. Tactile white covers and tessellated sheet sets in lemon or grey make for perfect layering options.

150625_CR_HOME_Spring0105

For kids, colour and print take a vibrant and bold turn. Playful sheet sets are offered in spring yellow and patchwork print. Silhouetted animal patterns introduce fresh shades of deep green and raspberry. Hints of denim and grey marle act as a stylish, grounding complement to a spring-fresh mix of prints.

Resident GP’s debut collection in marble and metallics

Having run their successful online homewares store Resident GP for over a year, owners Gabi Sidhu and Pawel Gaca longed to launch their own collection. And today, that dream become reality, with their debut range Linear being released.

Resident GP-Marble2199group

“From the get go we wanted to create something luxurious and chic with a bit of an edge to reflect our current Resident GP brand,” explains Gabi. “Marble is very on-trend yet will always remain a classic as it brings a certain elegance into every home. For us, it felt like the perfect material to design our very first collection.”

Resident GP-Marble2147group

[contextly_sidebar id=”i7rveSAFbdSrtgkpso4Q6EZDlsMfomCZ”]Creating a range of marble trays, platters, cups, pen holders and planters, the duo added that extra bit of luxe and charm through linear touches of copper and gold engravings. Beautiful and functional, their design process consisted of a lot of research, having never designed a homewares line before. “With myself having studied architecture and Pawel being an engineer, geometry and functionality were key when it came to designing the collection. That said, we had never designed homewares before. So coming up with the what, how and why happened with time and watching the business grow and seeing what customers liked and disliked. It’s been a huge learning process!”

Resident GP-Marble2133group

When they realised what materials they wanted to work with (they chose marble for its natural beauty and sophistication) they took the plunge and just went for it! “Our design process really consisted of a lot of research, getting inspiration and then just playing with objects, shapes and lines. We got out big bits of cardboard and went nuts drawing lines in every direction until we felt happy with the look and feel. We then tweaked and tweaked until it was perfect!”

Resident GP-Marble2226group

With prices starting at $89 for pen holders and going up to $175 for the large rectangular and round trays, they have also done a limited release of homewares in black marble, which we think is just that extra bit luxe!

Copper is the new black for this summer’s appliances

There’s no denying the metallic and copper trends are firmly here to stay. From light fixtures, to homewares, to that controversial copper wall on The Block, copper is absolutely everywhere! But where it’s relatively new is in the world of appliances, with Sunbeam releasing its popular Cafe Series Planetary Mixmaster Power Drive in copper.

Planetary Mixmaster Copper Interiors Addict

Featuring a balanced spring assisted head lift, the mixer’s head is easy to raise and lower with only one hand. The balanced head also remains in position in between the open and closed locked positions, preventing any banging or sudden movements.

Other features include the Power Drive outlet, which allows you to add accessories to your mixer such as pasta rollers and pasta cutters; the Power Drive Cover to add a touch of class to your mixer; the Power Drive Storage at the rear of the mixer, ideal for storing the Power Drive Cover when in use; and the Instant Pause function, which makes it easy to pause the mixer to add ingredients or check on your progress.

The Cafe Series Planetary Mixmaster Power Drive Copper retails for $689. For more information visit Sunbeam’s website.

Matt, moody and metallic: trends from Milan, now at Freedom Kitchens

Inspired by the recent EuroCucina in Milan, Freedom Kitchens have been quick to introduce new kitchen products to the Australian market, taking on these global trends but with an Aussie spin!

Timber applications niche
“A major source of inspiration for our team is EuroCucina,” says Jenny O’Connell, Freedom Kitchens store planning and design manager. “It’s the largest kitchen trade fair of its kind, showcasing global trends in kitchen design. With our factory located locally here in Australia, Freedom Kitchens has the advantage of quickly turning concepts into reality, keeping Australian homes on-trend with the rest of the world.”

For Freedom Kitchens, the first trend you’ll be seeing is their matt cabinetry; something with has proved extremely popular in Europe for its timeless, sophisticated finish. “Advancements in technology mean that fingerprints, often associated with matt cabinetry, may now be a thing of the past,” says Jenny. “Our new range is available in a stunning colour palette and will suit those seeking a contemporary, high-end designer look.”

Moody colour palette

Timber is also proving very on-trend, with its application extending far beyond cabinet doors. “No part of the kitchen is immune to timber at the moment with shelving, benchtops, doors and drawers all receiving a timber makeover. The options are endless when you start to play around with various timber, texture and colour combinations.”

Moody colours and metallic accents are similarly getting a mention, with the moody palette of black, dark greys and blues juxtaposed with shiny accents dominating European catwalks and homewares – a sure-fire sign, suggests Jenny, that kitchens will follow suit. “The new range of classic bold colours provide a neutral base that works well with glamorous metallic accents, such as handles and lighting in silver and copper.”

Timber applications benchtop

Clean lines and quartz surfaces round-up Freedom Kicthen’s trends for the second half of 2014, with streamlined, handle-less cabinetry and easy to maintain Ceasarstone benchtops becoming the must-haves in modern kitchens.

To view the latest product range and kitchen displays, visit your local Freedom Kitchens showroom. For a free, in-home kitchen design appointment, head to their website or call 1800 113 733.

My trend report in Luxury Home Design magazine, out today

I was delighted to be asked to write a trend report for Luxury Home Design, which is out today. I picked metallics, and by that I mean accessories and furniture in gold, silver, copper and bronze tones.

Let’s face it, silver and gold will never go out of fashion, but copper (or rose gold) hues seem to be making a bit of a comeback. Yesterday I featured those gorgeous gold and silver objets from Mr Pinchy & Co and I’m currently lusting after the brass, stainless steel and copper homewares from Georg Jensen’s Ilse collection (yes, it is my birthday on Sunday!).
