Lumiere Art + Co branch out into photographs and fashion

“I always make a range based on what I would like in my home,” explains Emma Cleine of Lumiere Art + Co. “I know, it’s very indulgent indeed.” But, as I tell Emma, when your style is eclectic, contemporary and just plain beautiful, well you can be forgiven for being a little self-centred!

Recently launching her latest collection, Summer Printscape, it features a few firsts for Emma, including photographic prints, a tight collection of textiles and a small fashion range. “The photographic element is brand new. I love contrast and really wanted to mix up the imagery, throwing in photographic prints with my hand-printed pieces. In terms of the textiles, the dress range is a first. I often hang dresses up like an artwork and wanted to produce a dress that could do this, simply because of its pattern. The dresses are also double-sided which is cool!”

Always on the hunt for new pieces to make, it seemed like a natural progression to create photographic prints. “I always use my own photos from my phone as a reminder of a texture or colour when creating my artworks and textiles, so it makes sense for me to have a small range of photography to go with my work. Printing and photography go hand in hand. I love a strong image.”

One image that is particularly powerful is Emma’s favourite, Wattle Arbour, which holds a sentimental place in her heart. “A friend saw this artwork and told me the wattle was a symbol of her baby girl who sadly passed away. She thought this artwork would be perfect for above her bed. I’ll never forget this. The power of symbolism astounds me and I’m humbled my artwork now reminds her of her little babe.”

Designing and producing her products herself, Emma’s process is very organic. As she admits, there’s no planning in sight! “I wish I could be methodical and use purchase orders and the like, but in the end the way I do it works, so I figure, why fight it?! The more I try to be something I’m not the less likely a product or design is to do well. Does that make sense? I have learnt to trust myself. I just need to stay confident, which as we all know is hard!”

Summer Printscape is available through Lumiere Art + Co’s online shop and Emma’s representation, Greenhouse Interiors.

Win your favourite from Alisa & Lysandra’s exclusive art range

Sponsored by United Artworks

When Alisa and Lysandra Fraser first popped onto our screens some two years ago I was well and truly in my Block obsession prime. I loved everything about the show and everything about the twins (especially their sassiness!). In fact the level of enthusiasm was so high that when I visited their series of The Block there was some real real emotion. Not tears, but very watery eyes.

Now, a few years on, I can say I’m older, wiser and less emotionally invested in reality TV. However, they still hold a special place in my heart. So when I heard about their latest venture, an exclusive artwork range in partnership with United Artworks, I was very excited.

Hear what the twins have to say about it…

Designed and produced in Australia, the range features both graphic and photographic designs, inspired by the grandeur and abundance of nature. “This collection is moody, raw and very ethereal,” explains Alisa. “It features a series of visually powerful prints that create aesthetic polarities and perfectly balance masculine and feminine tones and textures through the colour palette of nature.”

With the range representative of Alisa and Lysandra’s styling, the twins were keen to create an artwork collection, believing art to be a vital component to all interiors. “As interior designers we know that our projects become complete when all the finishing touches are in place and this includes artwork, which can deliver enormous emotional power in a space more than homewares or other accessories,” says Lysandra. “We have always wanted to create a collection that will compliment our design style, our colour forecasts and a collection that matches the tone of our work.”

FAMILY TREE 2_LANDSCAPE

With the artworks available for purchase from today, the sisters have already started brainstorming about future collections. “We are very excited about this collection with United Artworks,” explains Alisa. “They understand our vision and our design philosophy, which is really important in translating our ideas into physical artworks. Also, we’re one step ahead and already collating ideas for subsequent collections that we know our audience will love!”

Renowned photographer George Fetting opens online gallery

The gallery, entitled Photo Editions offers artworks in a number of sizes, edition numbers and price points, meaning greater choice and accessibility. Committed to providing corporate, private and investment collectors a beautiful selection of art, the works span a large part of George’s career and include many of his favourite pieces.

While the imagery is quite diverse, the real aim of Photo Editions is to display beautiful and captivating works of art, many of which have never been seen before. George’s passion for travel and exploring new places means there will be a constantly evolving range of unique and original imagery on offer, with the gallery being a long-term ongoing project.
