Buying and styling photographic art prints just got easier

Working as a magazine stylist, Emma O’Meara was always on the hunt for the next big thing. Finding the photography of Jason Furnari through a friend, she soon began using his fine art prints for editorial shoots, and then, came the idea for a collaboration.

“We both have a shared love of photography and interiors,” explains Emma. “So we immediately bonded over the idea of creating a beautiful selection of prints to sell.” So, rather than just talk about it, they did just that!

Starting online photography store, Our Print Collection, just last month, the duo offer a range of both framed and unframed fine art prints. With Emma curating the collection and Jason the lead photographer, their body of work is unique, contemporary and beautifully presented, ready to be hung on the wall.

A cohesive range of 32 images, many of the photographs are from Jason’s personal collection, a body of work he’s been creating for some 20 years! “I have worked as an editorial and commercial photographer for decades and have been lucky to travel extensively throughout my career. On my days off while on jobs I always took time to shoot for my personal collection, so I’m excited to finally share this work.”

With images of water and the coastline prevalent, as well as a handful of aspirational travel images, all the photographs share that same sense of emotion. “It was important to us that we curated a set of evocative images that we could picture on our own walls,” says Jason. “The images resonate with us, they evoke a feeling, reflect a moment in time or visually they may just be an interesting place to be.”

However, beautiful images aside, Our Print Collection stands out from the crowd for another reason, with Emma’s background giving the business a unique edge. “Working as an interior stylist gives me good insight into what is on trend with both art and things like frame styles. I like creating images for our website that show how our collection might look in your home and I think this helps the buyer to picture how our prints can work in different settings.”

Offering three products: unframed prints, shadow line framed prints and traditionally framed prints, they came in two sizes and three finishes. All the art is printed, framed, packaged and delivered from Barwon Heads, Victoria and shipped Australia wide.

Stylist Erin Michael creates birth announcement app

When stylist Erin Michael wanted to announce her baby, Jagger, to the world, she didn’t send the usual SMS or personalised photo card, she created this super cool birth announcement.

Jagger Original BA

It went viral, was pinned all over town and much imitated. Now clever Erin has seen the potential to turn her idea into an app and I think it’s genius!

It is so simple and easy to use. Rather than recreate your own photoshoot (as someone who recently gave birth, I can say that would definitely be at the bottom of my priority list!), you can introduce your baby in style to your friends and family virtually the minute they are born with Birth Announcement App.

Template3

All you need to do is choose a template, enter the baby’s birth details, take a photo or use one from your camera roll et voila, you are ready to share the exciting news of your baby in a unique and stylish way. Share instantly on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, send an SMS, email, or save to camera roll to print later. Erin, who was a contestant on The Block in 2010, printed her birth announcement photo and wrote thank you messages on the back of them to her loved ones.

“No newborn? Don’t worry, you are not missing out! You can retrospectively upload any photo from your camera roll and enter the birth details of your older children. Or maybe create one to pop in a frame as a gift for a friend who has just had a baby. They are also great for photo memory books, so you have a cute little reminder of all the important details to cherish forever,” Erin says.

Birth Announcement app is available to download free from the Apple App store, with in-app purchases. One gender neutral template based on the original is free to use and other templates cost $4.99 each.

An Android version (yay!) and many more templates are planned for the coming months.

What do you think? I think this is going to go OFF! Download for free.

I’m arguably too obsessed with my pets, so when I got the opportunity to review PosterCandy, which takes your Facebook, Instagram and hard drive snaps and turns them into prints, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to create a montage of my cats and dog. I’m not crazy, I promise!

The final result is beautiful and with PosterCandy’s easy to use website, affordable pricing and poster sizes that are designed to fit frames readily available at IKEA (that’s where I got mine from) and photography and discount stores, it is the perfect low-cost option for creating unique, personal art.

The website though, is what makes the experience so easy, with the application uploading your chosen images direct from your device or social media sites. The simple drag and drop system allows easy placement where you want, or you can jumble or randomise. You can even add text, crop images or save projects to return to at a later date.

Once you’ve finished your artwork, the PosterCandy team will take care of the rest, using the highest quality production materials and printing processes, before the poster is shipped  to your doorstep.

In this digital age, treasured photos more often than not never come off your device, and in fact before receiving this poster I can’t remember the last time I held my photos in my hands! But with prices starting from 65 cents for single image prints or $15 for a poster, PosterCandy is making the switch to hard copy easy.
