Our edit: Best plastic bag alternatives

With plastic bags banned in most Australian states (NSW is the exception), and major supermarket chains banning them too, we’ve hunted down the most stylish looking, reusable plastic bag alternatives.

Kollab shopper tote in colour block print: Water resistant and fabulous for everyday shopping and storage needs, this bag has cotton canvas handles but if we’re honest, it’s the gorgeous geo print that drew us in! $30.

Tigmi Trading jute bags: Handmade in Bangladesh (with wages empowering local women), these word-emblazoned bags feature gorgeous colours and I love their retro feel. $129.

IKEA YPPERLIG carrier bag: I’ve been using these at the supermarket for years though it’s nice to see they’ve expanded the range beyond the Swedish brand’s iconic blue. $3.99.

Evo trolley bag Xtra bag in grey: Not the prettiest of the bunch but super practical, this bag is designed to hook onto the front of your trolley (it holds a whopping 15kg!) keep things organised in the boot and fold away flat when you’re done. $21.95.

We love: Langdon Ltd’s latest colourful, boho collection

It’s no secret that we love a bit of colour and bohemian styling here at Interiors Addict and while it’s a trend that waxes and wanes in a fashion sense, the boho interior has become something of a modern classic. And if you’re a fan of that aesthetic too, look no further than Langdon Ltd‘s latest collection ‘This is Love!’ which walks that delicate line between earthy and stylish in a superb way.

Designed by sisters Phoebe and Delia Langdon, Langdon Ltd’s latest offering is brimming with gorgeous pastels, metallic flashes, geometric motifs and an artisanal vibe which is no surprise given much of the range is handwoven in Rajasthan, India.

The Casablanca rug in peach is on our want list!

The range of colourful cushions, rugs, throws and bags are designed by the sisters before being brought to life in India – we love the way they merge traditional techniques with a modern yet homespun aesthetic. “We love making beautiful things and all of our goods are made in India using traditional techniques and the finest materials and metallic threads,” says Delia.

1

A Langdon Ltd purchase is an ethical one too as the company employ Indian artisans and makers, helping them develop a sustainable income for themselves and their families. “We spend a lot of time in India and wander off the beaten path to immerse ourselves in the local communities to spend time with the artisans behind our brand,” says Delia.

2

Lavender, mint, rose, lemon, foam blues and dusty metallics sit in beautiful contrast to the natural jute tones – we love the Ziggy Zest cushion which pairs candy pink and mint with black. The rugs are also on the top of of our wish list – the shaggy collection is as 70’s-influenced as you would expect and we love the pom poms, tassels and fringing accents on the rest of the rug range too.

10

The carry bags are pretty stunning also – combining cotton, metallic thread and bamboo handles, some of them are adorned with sugary-coloured tassels also.

Sydneysiders can make an appointment at Langdon Ltd’s showroom to discuss any design needs, peruse the materials and colours and you can even design your own rug. We love!

Online shopping fix: Ipso Mofo

Stocking furniture and homewares that are “a tad out of the ordinary,” Ipso Mofo is a no-nonsense, non-pretentious online store, focusing on quality, colourful, quirky lifestyle products from independent makers.

ipso mofo

Featuring wares largely designed and manufactured in Europe, there’s nothing mass-produced or made in China in sight! With all their brands being small indie producers, founder Paul Noe started Ipso Mofo after struggling to find products for his own home. “Other than the usual high street stores, we would either find lots of Chinese made replica furniture or at the other end of the scale, high-end products that were out of the average person’s price range. We felt there was a gap in the mid market in Australia for cool design products made by boutique brands that you wouldn’t have to sell the car to afford.”

Proudly the only Australian stockist for all their brands, Ipso Mofo takes a fresh, tongue in cheek approach, by not taking themselves too seriously (you’ll definitely have a laugh or two browsing through their website). With a style that is “anti-minimalist”, more quirky brands will be added soon, with Paul also hoping to start offering Ipso MoFo as a platform for Australian-made products. “We would love to represent more Aussie brands and give some upcoming designers an outlet to show off their stuff.” Watch this space!

Feelgood florals from Mrs. Darcy spring/summer collection

I’m so in love with these! Mrs. Darcy have launched the Chameleon collection for SS14 and it’s as gorgeous as ever. Consistent with Mrs. Darcy’s contagious desire to brighten our worlds, Chameleon includes homewares and loungewear for flower lovers.

The brainchild of flamboyant creative and new mum Kellie Collis, Mrs. Darcy’s design direction is underpinned by a love of colour and beauty, and a very genuine passion to add happiness to our homes. Adapting to the change of season, Chameleon introduces a beautiful range of textiles featuring trademark florals with a seasonal injection of mint tones and geometric prints, delivered across a striking range of cushions, throws, robes, slippers and scarves.

New to Mrs. Darcy’s offering this season is a stunning selection of quilts and bedding, in addition to a smart capsule of stylish accessories including elegant overnight bags, fun floral clutches and colourful cosmetic cases.

An expanded bedding and accessory range builds on their widely adored ongoing collection of candles and diffusers.

Mrs. Darcy was launched in February 2012 and has grown ever since. Their products can be found in leading lifestyle and homewares stores around Australia, and are now also stocked in stores across New Zealand, Asia, Europe, the US and South America.

True to its name, the Chameleon collection adapts easily to a new season, room style or decorating whim. Kellie won’t mind how you use her range, as long as the end result makes you happy!

I’m head over heels for all of it!
