New timber mosaics are as easy as peel and stick

With the current natural food craze, we knew it was only a matter of time before we went organic with our houses too! Tile Mega Mart have released the next great statement product to spice up your wall: timber mosaics. The Geppetto collection captures the natural beauty of timber, making it easy to create striking geometric patterns and 3D profiles in your home.

The collection features six designs – available in a choice of hues, each one vastly different from the next. You’ll find finishes ranging from deep cocoa-black (Mos Nero Rigati) to a soft limewash effect (Bardot Mos Tropezzienne). Those loving the Scandinavian look will be happy with the pale hue of Scaletta! Environmentalists can rest easy as each mosaic is crafted from sustainably produced Pinus Teada trees and handmade by timber artisans.

Marita Blaschka, Tile Mega Mart’s design director, is proud to say that the collection is just as easy as it is beautiful! “The timber pieces have been precisely placed on a small panel, creating a mosaic sheet measuring about 280mm, which has a self-adhesive backing. So no glues or grouting are required.”

The unique pieces inspire a number of installation options – from full walls to feature areas, such as in place of a bedhead or adding an extra layer to a display shelf.

With designs that range from the stunning herringbone display of Mosaico Spina to the concave shape of Arco Acustico and the stacked effect of Mos Nero Rigati, the Geppetto collection is sure to be the centre of attention at your next gathering.

The Geppetto handmade timber mosaic collection is available exclusively from Tile Mega Mart. Find it here.

A guide to using crystals in your home and work space

Whether you believe in their healing properties or not, crystals look beautiful and can be the perfect icing on the cake of your vignette! Stoned Crystals founder Ashley Bellino, put together these top tips for us on using crystals in your styling at home or work.

APL PHOTOGRAPHY - www.aplphotography.com.au

Crystals for Styling at Home:

Whether you’re styling a coffee table or dresser, Stoned Crystals has a simple, no-fail, three-step styling formula:

  1. Horizontal – choose one or two horizontal items to place on the surface you are styling. Think a stack of books or glossy magazines.

  2. Height – add something with a bit of height. A beautiful vase containing your favourite flowers will work perfectly here.

  3. Bridge – the bridging or connecting object should be placed between the horizontal and height objects. The bridging object should always be the most interesting in the arrangement as it will give character to the space and often guide the direction of the room. Crystals are the perfect object to bridge the horizontal and vertical planes by providing a story and energy that will intuitively guide the style direction of your room.

Using Crystals in Workplace Styling:

Stoned_Crystals_Lifestyle_9

  1. Use natural stones or crystals as paperweights and bookends. Choose a stone that suits your personal style, mood and palette.

  2. Use carved stones or crystal platters and bowls to store all stationary and loose desk items.

  3. Place crystals on the soil of potted plants or terrariums in your work area.

  4. Have a favourite crystal as a worry stone, hand massage object or brainstorming object. Having this crystal on hand to deflect negative energy is a great way to manage workplace stress, clear the mind and get creative when brainstorming new ideas.

  5. Keep a cluster of stones near your office window or near your phone at your workstation. Every time you glance at your crystals, your subconscious remains mindful of your thoughts and actions.

  6. Manage workplace stress with crystals by offsetting the strong electromagnetic fields created by computer screens by placing a crystal next to any technology device in your office. Stoned Crystals recommends clear quartz for the absorption of electromagnetic radiation.

Bonnie and Neil’s new range: Botanical

The latest collection from Melbourne-based textile studio Bonnie and Neil showcases the beauty of Spring flowers, featuring pretty blooms, native florals and lush greenery.

b&n1

Building on their previous collections of nature-inspired designs, Botanical also includes new oil paint patterns and geometrics in emerald, soft pink, cobalt and charcoal.  We’re in love!

b&n4

b&n5
Inspired by Bonnie’s years working as a florist, the collection introduces a new series of limited edition artworks, a first for the brand. These intricate paper prints are uniquely composed with flowers and foliage individually. Each layer is added intuitively which means no two prints are the same.

Greg Natale’s second designer wallpaper range for Porter’s

Following the successful Stripes collection, Porter’s Paints have teamed up with Greg Natale on his second wallpaper range and I like it even more than the first! Officially launching tomorrow, I can’t get enough of these new designs.

03

“With a shared affinity for pattern, we were eager to collaborate with Greg in an exploration of textural presence and form on a two-dimensional medium. Scale and colour were finely tuned to create depth, articulate and expand the sense of a room.”

Greg says: “I’m constantly inspired by pattern – its versatility, its energy and its endless possibilities. For the second time, Porter’s Paints have given me the opportunity to extend my love of pattern into the glorious world of wallpaper, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The sophisticated geometrics, dynamic lines and comprehensive range of colours in this collection have something for all lovers of pattern.”

Available online and in store, Collection II offers six exciting new designs that are a chic play on primary shapes in a carefully curated range of colours. In true Greg style, the wallpapers tie into each other, creating a tailored continuity.

04

All these designs are so fab, I actually can’t pick a favourite!

Greg’s on a roll, as usual. It’s still only January and last week he revealed his first tile collection for Teranova!

Three interiors trends we predict will last well into 2015

By Lisa Tilse

In the world of interiors — as in fashion — trends come and go seasonally and sometimes with even more frequency. Unlike in the fashion industry though, there are often looks and colours that have longevity. These three trends are ones that I’ve seen around for a year or more and are continuing to evolve and gather momentum.

1. INDOOR PLANTS

From succulents to fiddle leaf figs and ferns, this is a major trend that isn’t going away. Whether you opt for large or small plants, groupings or standalone pots, the addition of living greenery to your home will soften the edges and make your space seem calmer and more welcoming. A bonus of lush indoor greenery is the gorgeous array of pots, buckets and hanging planters that are now available.

2. BLACK & WHITE

Trends are all about contrast, and this one juxtaposes nicely with other current looks like the softness of pastels and the luxe of metallics. The contemporary simplicity of this monochromatic colour scheme has seen it grow in popularity over the past year or two. You can incorporate the black and white trend into your home in small ways, or be brave and go all out and remove all traces of colour!

3. GEOMETRICS

This is one trend that’s been around for some time now, and it shows no sign of losing its edge — we are still crushing on triangular patterns, grids and geometrics. The versatility and adaptability of geometric shapes and patterns is ensuring longevity in homewares from rugs to ceramics, tea towels to bed linen. A new variation of the geo trend is the Memphis look which is enjoying a revival from the eighties.

Whether you embrace trends with open arms and transform your living spaces often, or you dabble and mix and match with your existing style, you can have fun with these looks. Even adding a few plants, some new homewares or a key piece of furniture can change up the look of a room and breathe new on-trend life into it.
