TV’s Jamie Durie moves into interiors with furniture range for Riva 1920

Jamie Durie’s more known for his work outdoors than indoors, but all that’s about to change with his first furniture range for Riva 1920. I had the pleasure of interviewing the TV personality at Sydney InDesign last weekend.

As if Jamie, who lives between LA and Sydney, didn’t already have enough TV shows, books, successful businesses and garden design awards to his name, he now has a luxury furniture range, and a very good looking, sustainable one at that. He’s being going to the Milan Furniture Fair for 7 years now, so when Italian brand Riva 1920 approached him, he arranged to meet them on home turf, tour their studio and factory and meet members of the family. “I was over the moon to be asked. It’s very exciting.”

My picks from the new IKEA Outdoor collection

IKEA has unveiled a new Outdoor range which boasts hundreds of new products just in time for the warmer weather. From solar powered lighting to extendable tables, loads of chair options and umbrellas, the new range offers everything Aussies need for a total alfresco overhaul or just a quick revamp. IKEA Outdoor will be available in all IKEA stores from today and features 28 unique and modern ranges and 250 products.

Be it big backyards or small verandahs, the new IKEA Outdoor offering showcases a wide range of hardwearing and low maintenance products that have undergone rigorous testing to ensure they are fit for the Australian climate. PR Manager Angela McCann says: “This range is truly exciting, not only because it is so suited to the Australian climate but that IKEA Australia is the first country of the wider IKEA markets to offer the new products to their customers. The ranges cater to every outdoor space, whether that be a sprawling backyard, patio or an inner-city courtyard, our Outdoor range also offers clever storage options and bright and beautiful statement pieces that make the most of outdoor living.”

IKEA’s new Outdoor range will be showcased until 14 November at The Island Bar, Cockatoo Island, Sydney; Cocktail Island on 17 – 18 November; Brisbane Open House, King George Square, on 6 October; and Melbourne Festival Foxtel Hub from 11 to 27 October.
