Adore Home mag gets printed!

We love online here (obviously!) but as someone who spent the majority of their journalism career working on printed newspapers and magazines, I have a definite soft spot for paper and ink and always will! Loni Parker, from online interiors mag Adore Home has printed a special annual version and you can get your hands on it (literally!) from today (if you didn’t already pre-order)!

The annual is graphic designer Loni’s second crowdfunded project (through Pozible) after her coffee table book last year.

Find it in newsagents across the country and select homewares stores, as well as the Adore online shop.

Covet my coffee table: Adore Home magazine’s Loni Parker

Loni Parker is the founder of Adore Home magazine who recently published her very own coffee table book, Adore. We asked her to share what’s on her coffee table. Turns out Loni has a penchant for coral and anything gold!

“My coffee table is actually an upholstered ottoman — it’s great because it’s soft enough to put your feet up, but sturdy enough to sit a tray of my favourite decorator items on. On my coffee table you’ll find a black mirrored tray from Freedom, a gold vase from Highgate House (peonies are my favourite flowers, but when they’re not in season I can’t go past roses or snapdragons) and gold urchins from my trip to the US last year (one was purchased in Palm Springs and the other in San Francisco so every time I look at them it takes me back to those places!).

“I also have Kelly Wearstler’s book Modern Glamour on there, and like to rotate it up every now and then including my own book, Adore. Coral is a must for me — it’s one of those things I’m addicted to buying — when I walk into a store that has coral I go weak at the knees and have to have it! I think it must be my kryptonite!”

Loni also loves candles and has a pink Voluspa one sitting on her table. “I’m always buying new candles (another weakness of mine) so this usually gets changed up pretty regularly around here.”

Loni is raising funds to print a hard copy of Adore Home magazine via Pozible. Pre-order your copy here.

Adore Home mag’s Loni Parker crowd funds coffee table book

I’m a big fan of Adore Home magazine and its creator, Loni Parker. Like me, she quit her day job last year to follow her passion and has since also launched Lovely Wedding magazine. I’m not sure where she finds the time, but still!

Now Loni wants to publish a printed coffee table book full of the best homes from the mag and those that haven’t been seen before. But she needs to raise $35,000. You can pledge your support via crowdfunding site Pozible. A $50 pledge will get you a copy of the book when it’s published (including shipping) or a $10 pledge will get you a ticket to one of three launch parties.

It’s sure to be a fantastic end product, which is why I just pre-ordered my copy with a $50 pledge. You can do the same here.

All the best, Loni!

New issue of Adore Home is out

The fab free online interiors mag Adore Home published its Christmas/summer issue this week and it’s a corker, with Christmas tips from Anna Spiro, some serious house candy, bedroom styling tips and gorgeous things to buy.

I enjoyed writing a feature for them about a Hollywood home by designers Woodson & Rummerfield, full of Florence Broadhurst pattern.

The Adore Home magazine 2nd birthday party

I had a great time at the Adore Home 2nd birthday party with Emma from Nest Designs last night. And what better venue than Passionate About Design (Pad) in Waterloo, one of the most beautiful furniture and homewares stores in Sydney?

Believe it or not I’d never met Loni Parker, who owns the mag, before, despite having written for it, so that was a real pleasure. It was a full house, including interior designers Greg Natale, Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke (Arent & Pyke), stylist Megan Morton and many more industry faces. With plenty of champagne, Miss Chu canapés and a lolly buffet, a great time was had by all!

New issue of Adore Home is out

A fabulous new issue of online mag Adore Home is out today. I’ve written a couple of pieces in there: one about holiday accommodation in Byron that’s been given a new lease of life by stylist Shannon Fricke, and another about a Melbourne eatery designed by Travis Walton.  Make sure you download your free copy. I’ll be enjoying this in bed on my iPad with a cuppa this weekend!

The best of last week in interiors

  • On Tuesday I was all kinds of excited to publish my interview with Kelly Hoppen, who I have long admired. Her show Superior Interiors aired in Australia for the first time that night on the Lifestyle Channel. Did you tune in? I would have but I don’t have Foxtel (there’s already not enough hours in the day for all the reality TV I watch!).
  • Loni Parker of the popular online magazine Adore Home announced she has quit her graphic designer job to concentrate on her real passion full-time. Good for you, Loni! The big news is she will launch an online store with the next issue of the mag this Friday. I have written a home profile in there so make sure you check it out!
  • The much anticipated Maison InStyle trade fair was postponed with no new date yet.
  • The new editors of Inside Out magazine were announced as Claire Bradley and Lee Tran Lam after Richard Waller was let go the week before.
  • I confessed how my own impatience has led to me making many  bad interiors decision!
  • On Friday I met Jamee Huntington from In A Designer Home. Have you checked out her online store? It’s selling all kinds of fabulous brands like my faves Armadillo & Co and Dinosaur Designs.
  • Last night Dale and Sophie finally won a challenge on The Block. Did you like their hallway and bedroom? I did. Our friend Darren Palmer was guest judging again too. Who is your favourite judge? I’m really only tuning in on Sundays now for the room reveals as the midweek challenges bore me (I know, I have mentioned this a LOT but it’s just such a shame The Block enjoyment can’t be spread right across the week!).
  • Belle magazine’s super stylist Steve Cordony has finally joined Twitter. Hoorah! Follow him @stevecordony.

Here’s to another fabulous week, addicts!

Adore magazine launches online homewares store

It seems a no-brainer to me. Loni Parker, the Queensland-based founder of online magazine Adore Home, is launching an online store to complement it. And she’s quit her job as a graphic designer to concentrate on her real passion full-time. That’s something I always admire and I love Adore so I wish her the best of luck.

“There’ll be a selection of decor items from all over the globe. There’s frames and cushions from US based artist Dana Gibson, prints from Portugese interior designer Ana Cordeiro, cushions from Scottish label Bluebellgray and jewellery from US label Loren Hope, just to name a few. I’m really excited and I hope people like my selections.

“I felt it was the right time to branch out and add an online store to the Adore Home website and life is too short to not do something you love.”

The April/May issue of Adore Home

The latest issue of free Aussie online magazine Adore Home is a cracker and not only because I love hot pink (hello, predictable!). I partiuclarly enjoyed the photos of Claudia Stephenson’s gorgeous home, the look inside John and Peter Canteen at Carriageworks (STILL need to go there!) and the interview with Koskela founders Russel and Sasha. If you haven’t been to the new Rosebery showroom, it’s well worth the trip. It is a feast for the eyes AND it’s right next to the fabulous new daytime eatery Kitchen by Mike!
