Latest children’s bedding: Flower Fairies and Star Wars feature

I don’t know about you but I’m thoroughly enjoying giving my house a solid spring clean and refresh in time for summer. And nowhere do I feel this is more necessary than in my kids’ rooms where new bed linen is a must. From iconic flower fairies to Star Wars, there’s plenty to love about our latest children’s bedding picks.

Kip & Co x Flower Fairies
Since their first publication in 1923, Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies have enchanted both adults and children alike making them perfect fodder for Kip & Co’s latest children’s bedding collaboration.

“There’s nothing like the moment you see your first fairy, fluttering around at the bottom of the garden where it’s over-grown and wild. This collection takes you right back to that moment, to cherish with your little ones all over again”, says Kip & Co co-founder Kate Heppell.

The limited-edition collection includes organic cotton bedding for kids and babies, cushions, play mats, blankets, swaddles and bibs. From $15.

Adairs Star Wars collection
Very different in tone from the above, the Adairs Star Wars collection is super fun. It’s also a lovely, subtle take on your typical cartoon emblazoned, novelty bedding. Featuring all of the Start Wars iconic characters (including Dark Vader, R2-D2 and Yoda), the range includes bed linen, baskets and nursery pieces. From $34.99.

Boutique Aussie bedding inspired by Italian summer

Inspired by summer in Italy‘s beautiful Puglia region, ‘Salento’ is the new bed linen collection from boutique Melbourne homewares brand Mosey Me. The creation of the label’s founder Eliza O’Sullivan, the collection is minimal, unique and quietly understated without being dull. “The aim was to create a feeling of calmness and peace and to emulate what we feel while on a dreamy holiday,” says Eliza.

Mosey Me

When designing the signature print that runs through the collection, Eliza wanted to create something that represented the Puglia landscape, its feeling and history. “This took a lot of fine tuning, as it was asking a lot from a print, however I believe we got there in the end!” says Eliza who drew on the region’s solid history of pottery too.

The designs feature shapes and silhouettes as well as colours inspired by the the region – the gorgeous palette is comprised of clay, blue, wine and orchid.

Mosey Me

A graduate of RMIT, Eliza completed a BA in textile design (majoring in screen printing) before working full-time across fashion and homewares labels for seven years. Mosey Me was launched at the end of 2016 with just a small line of digitally printed tableware and bed linen followed in 2017.

While a lot of Eliza’s inspiration comes from fashion, she always wanted to launch her own homewares label. “I’ve always felt more connected to designing for the home. I love creating beautiful product for people to wake up and go to sleep in. It’s where we go to reset and recharge and I like the idea of helping people get the most out of that time,” says Eliza.

Mosey Me

The new collection is the first time the brand has offered children’s sized bed linen too – a decision Eliza made after myriad customer requests. “I think the ‘Salento’ range offers an alternative to the loud and crowded kids’ home designs that can be on offer. Our range allows for a calm and peaceful room for your little ones to rest in, while keeping the aesthetic beautiful,” says Eliza.

As for the brand name, Eliza’s childhood dog was the muse. “Moses was the name of my childhood pug! We got him when I was about 12 and like all dogs, he was such a great companion. I acquired the nickname ‘Mosey’ from him and it just stuck. The business name is a lovely homage to my pug who brought me so much happiness!”

Fruit salad alert! Meet Sack Me!’s new Paradiso collection

Fruity and fun, quirky kids bedding label Sack Me! is back with ‘Paradiso’ – a tropical inspired range of bedding (from cot to king size), accessories, novelty cushions and waterproof beanbags and cushions.

3“We wanted to do something a little different this year. We really wanted to capture that laid back feeling of being on holiday, kicking back by the pool, somewhere warm and lush, so we’ve added waterproof indoor/outdoor beanbags and cushions to the range, and we couldn’t be happier with the result,” says Sack Me! founder and designer Li-Ann Scott.

The brand’s signature novelty cushions feature heavily too with a pineapple, banana and apple mixed back with monkey and flamingo prints. “Our cushions are definitely one of our most popular products. Mums love them because they complete the look and kids love them because they ignite their imaginations, and that’s exactly what Sack Me! is all about,” says Li-Ann.

One of the collection’s most covetable items is the reversible doona cover – one side features a bright, tropical print while the other features something more restrained so you can tailor the look to your child’s mood.

2

“We wanted this collection to channel a tropical getaway, it’s bright, relaxed and playful, but flip it over and you’ve got something a little more subdued. One of my favourite pieces is the Flamingo doona cover which features quirky flamingos on one side, and classic gingham pattern on the reverse”, says Li-Ann.

5

With the entire Sack Me! range designed to mix and match, we love the label’s flexible and economical approach. “Everything is designed so you don’t have to start all over again when new collections are created, you simply refresh with a new pillowcase or sheet here or there and the look is instantly updated”, says Li-Ann.
