Latest children’s bedding: Flower Fairies and Star Wars feature

I don’t know about you but I’m thoroughly enjoying giving my house a solid spring clean and refresh in time for summer. And nowhere do I feel this is more necessary than in my kids’ rooms where new bed linen is a must. From iconic flower fairies to Star Wars, there’s plenty to love about our latest children’s bedding picks.

Kip & Co x Flower Fairies
Since their first publication in 1923, Cicely Mary Barker’s Flower Fairies have enchanted both adults and children alike making them perfect fodder for Kip & Co’s latest children’s bedding collaboration.

“There’s nothing like the moment you see your first fairy, fluttering around at the bottom of the garden where it’s over-grown and wild. This collection takes you right back to that moment, to cherish with your little ones all over again”, says Kip & Co co-founder Kate Heppell.

The limited-edition collection includes organic cotton bedding for kids and babies, cushions, play mats, blankets, swaddles and bibs. From $15.

Adairs Star Wars collection
Very different in tone from the above, the Adairs Star Wars collection is super fun. It’s also a lovely, subtle take on your typical cartoon emblazoned, novelty bedding. Featuring all of the Start Wars iconic characters (including Dark Vader, R2-D2 and Yoda), the range includes bed linen, baskets and nursery pieces. From $34.99.

Kip & Co.’s new autumn collection is big on texture

While there’s plenty for maximalists in the new Kip & Co. range ‘Magic Happens,’ the collection is brimming with options for those who favour a more subdued aesthetic. The brand’s autumn collection has a focus on incorporating chunky texture into the home and not just the bold pattern we’ve come to expect from the brand.

Kip & Co
Kip & Co.’s signature velvet and linen bedding is back in several fabulous new colour ways

“With tactile fabrics like cotton velvet, French linen, soft cotton, chunky blanket knits, and waffle, the range is a reminder of the importance of touch, and the beauty in slowing things down,” says Kip & Co co-founder Alex McCabe.

This large scale graphic check would look great on a child or adult’s bed

The new collection features pretty new velvet and linen shades (hello nude!) as well as some seriously gorgeous chunky knit throws that look both stylish and snuggly. Other standout pieces (that would look equally at home on the couch or the bed) include the gorgeous harlequin print ‘Iced Vovo’ throw as well as new shades of the brand’s signature tassel throws.

Kip & Co chunky knit throw
The ‘Honey Rhubarb’ chunky knit throw is a standout piece in the range
Kip & Co
The new ‘Iced Vovo’ throw, velvet Monstera cushion in shrimp and classic linen in ‘Laurel Green’ are rather delicious too.

“You can include colour and texture – it doesn’t have to be all about the print. Sometimes it’s about adding a textural element without going the full maximalist hog,” says Kip & Co. marketing coordinator Amy Clarke who suggests starting with a plain linen or velvet and building the look from there.

Kip & Co

“The collection is an ode to those moments of magic amidst the mayhem – the wonder of a rainbow, the twinkle of the stars, the laughter of your best friend. We shot in an incredibly romantic old hotel, and if the walls could talk, they would’ve whispered stories of a simpler time,” says Alex.

Kip & Co
The beautiful kids’ ‘Speckle Candy’ print could almost pass as a neutral and would layer up nicely too.
Kip & Co
The new cushion line-up includes striped velvets and a new bolster shape. We love the new large pink check bed linen too.

The latest tableware range features cutlery, table cloths, aprons and napkins in a fabulous array of new prints designed to make staying home a bit more joyful. “In the kitchen, we’re embracing the golden era of dining in. Our beautiful tableware and cutlery collection celebrates the joy of a home cooked meal, with a feeling of festivity and fun,” says Alex.

Kip & Co
The ‘Pollen’ linen table cloth and napkin are styled with jewel napkin rings from the range.

Favourite collection prints have been turned into apparel – there’s leggings, tees, sweaters and a series of absolutely stunning cardigans. “We are so excited to intro our new hero – the big knitted cardigan is a must-have wardrobe essential,” says Alex.

What a stunning cardigan!

Maximalists never fear though, you are very much catered for. From whimsical florals and foliage, to a fabulous Greek God inspired print, there’s plenty to feast your eyes on.

Kip & Co’s Autumn/Winter collection locally inspired

“The range is called Heartland because it was shot in, and inspired by, our favourite stomping grounds; St Kilda and the Bellarine Peninsula. It’s about finding the beauty in our everyday lives; whether it’s our unruly jungle gardens, our wild tribe of kiddies, the colours in our neighbourhoods, or just the Australian sensibility,” says Kip & Co’s Hayley Pannekoecke of the Aussie brand’s Autumn/Winter 2020 collection, which launches today.

Kip & Co
The range was photographed in a gorgeous St Kilda apartment

As usual, there’s a kaleidoscope of colour, but there’s a few standout shades for the cooler months – luminous green, fuchsia pink, plum and marmalade in particular.

The 'Peony' quilt

The large ottomans have returned and there’s lots of great new cushion styles including the floral inspired ‘Petal’ which we predict will be a total winner.

“We’re basically floral fanatics, so any way to bring more flowers into the range is welcome! As with all of the range, the Petal cushion came from one of our design sessions, spent around Hayley’s kitchen table in Barwon Heads, bouncing ideas back and forth until, voila!” says co-founder Kate Heppell.

Print lovers will be satisfied with everything from animal (zebra and snake) to reimagined florals (think paisleys, and a jungle scene) featuring in the range. “There’s a few signature prints that we are really excited about, particularly Colombo which is so lush and inviting we cannot wait to snag it for ourselves. I’m also loving some of the new vintage inspired fabrics, including corduroy and chenille – retro heaven,” says Hayley.

The baby and kids’ line-up is brimming with the usual fun also – there’s vintage ships, 70’s florals and 80’s sci-fi spaceships. “The pieces are inspired by all the things that make our hearts go boom; bedtime stories with our kids, jungle advnetures in the back yard, pinky swears, and the colour of life,” says Hayley.

And in great news, Kip & Co has implemented some new sustainability practices including reusable fabric packaging (ideal for travel bags, lunch bags and nappy bags) and the entire range is now shipping in biodegradable corn starch bags too.

The 'Trailblazer' quilt
The peachy ‘Trailblazer’ comforter is rather divine. It’s seen her with a tassel throw in ‘Amazon.’

“Our cotton off-cuts in India are upcycled by an amazing charity to make products for their local community in need. There’s lots more to come soon, and we really hope everyone gets behind us, and importantly, asks other brands to do the same.”

Kip & Co spring range channels maximalist Euro vibe

Proving yet again that it’s not a brand for wallflowers, Kip & Co’s latest collection ‘In Full Bloom’ is inspired by the “delicious maximalism of a colour-drenched, bountiful European spring,” according to the brand. Featuring Kip & Co’s signature eclectic mix of prints, texture and colour, the range draws heavily on the time the designers spent in Italy recently.

Kip & Co In Bloom collection

“This collection is inspired by the Italian spring and beautiful blooms. Melbourne winters sure can get the mind wandering to warmer faraway places. We love the elegance and colour of Italy – it all seems to come so easily to them. We are channelling some of the coastal colour and the muted tones of the bigger cities and throwing it back with big floral splashes,” says Kip & Co’s Hayley Pannekoecke.

The adult bedding range features florals combined with creeping vines, stripes and citrus fruit motifs and the brand’s signature linen and velvet are back in gorgeous spring inspired tones – think lemon meringue, pink bellini, saffron and hazelnut.

Also, it wouldn’t be a properly Italian inspired range without some sort of animal print. “I love everything in our gorgeous new Tarzan velvet as I am an absolute sucker for an animal print. I love the aprons and tea towels in Tarzan also!” says Hayley.

New additions to the range include a Euro-chic collection of metallic leather bag goods. “Kate, Alex and I all travel quite a bit and with an equal obsession for anything metallic it seemed essential to design a range that we could take our cosmetics and laptops with us in style,” says Hayley.

There’s also a gorgeous array of holiday-worthy kaftans too. “Kate and I have just spent the past month soaking up the Sicilian summer wearing these babies and they will be a staple for this summer in Australia too. I just throw them over my cossie and head to the beach,” says Hayley.

The kids and baby offering includes cheeky prints inspired by outer space, the ocean and the jungle emblazoned across bedding, blankets, bags, beanbags play mats and bamboo swaddles. The popular banana blanket is back by customer demand also.

New Kip & Co: “More colour, kapow and cool than ever before!”

As is often the case for Kip & Co, its latest collection, titled 24 KARAT, is a celebration of colour and print and has more than a touch of seventies magic running through it. “It has a really strong, confident feel and it’s got more colour, kapow and cool than ever before! I think the inspiration is probably the quiet strength of all the amazing women out there. We launched on international women’s day too which was appropriate!” says Kip & Co’s Alex van der Sluys of the Autumn/Winter 2017 range, that rather fittingly features plenty of pink.

The seventies vibe is channeled through the colour palette too with lots of ‘dirty’ hues on offer – think mustard, rust, lilac and forest green. “Colour is also a strong creative driver for us and this season there is a beautiful palette with strong sea greens and stormy blues mixed with nectar, peach sorbet and deep rose,” says Alex.

The collection also features a couple of new products for the brand – the diamond shaped wall hooks are particularly gorgeous. “Every season we introduce a few new products as we’re constantly evolving and growing which is incredibly exciting for us. Sharing those new pieces is one of our favourite parts of any season. This season we’ve introduced denim bedding which is a total blue dream, we’ve expanded our coloured translucent cutlery collection with delicious soup ladles, serving spoons and salt and pepper dishes, plus we’ve also introduced some really beautiful wall hooks that are art in themselves!” says Alex.

New towels, toiletry bags and more

Showcasing plenty of fun motifs including strawberries, burgers, donuts, dinosaurs and a sprinkle print, the Kip & Co KID collection is a lot of fun too. “We’ve created an amazing blanket with these strawberry shaped pom poms – it’s totally wild and I think people are going to love it!” says Alex. Jen is already a fan!

Last season’s tasselled throws are back which should please many fans

The Kip & Co TINY collection is also a winner – the padded play mats, cot sheets and bamboo swaddles are sure to brighten up any nursery.

I love that lion cushion!

In other news, the brand’s beanbags are also back. “They’re back due to popular demand and are ready for you to plonk in and watch the storms roll in this winter,” says Alex.

And with plans to launch stateside soon, the talented Melbourne design trio certainly have their hands full. “We’re also really excited to launch in the US in April – wish us luck!” says Alex.
