Bring your summer holiday home with BROSA’s new outdoor furniture

Australia’s increasingly unpredictable weather patterns mean durable outdoor furniture is a must. BROSA have announced their largest outdoor collection featuring design-led and durable pieces. Drawing inspiration from dreamy summer holiday destinations from around the world, it’s also designed for the way Australians live.

Corsica armchair, $599

Holiday inspiration is seen in the names of BROSA’s pieces such as Merida, Corsica, Sicilia, Portofino, Cali, Maui and Lisbon. Customers can pick their favourite destination and bring it to their backyard.

Mixing a diverse range of materials and textures, the collection detail looks to impress. Made using materials like solid acacia, a natural wood perfect for outdoor furniture due to its dense, weather and moisture-resistant properties, and powder-coated steel and aluminium. BROSA’s outdoor range has been curated to stand the test of time.

BROSA’s head of buying, Beth Finckh says: “We’re thrilled to launch an outdoor collection designed for every Australian home. We’ve expanded the width of the collection immensely so we can explore a truly varied range of design aesthetics, sizes, and price points, so there’s something for everyone.

“From the contemporary curves of Maui, to the European inspired classic Portofino in black and white stripes, the collection will enable people to create an outdoor space with just as much style and detail as their interiors.”

Outdoor Mediterranean Corsica Dining Bundle

BROSA aims to give customers the chance to create an outdoor entertaining space which can transform their backyard, courtyard or deck into a summer holiday destination.

Maui Outdoor Dining Table and Dining Chair

BROSA say the furniture is very affordable for its quality with the Maui 6-seater outdoor dining set for example (seen above), priced at $2,499.

Brosa see 180% increase in furniture sales since Covid

There’s no denying that COVID-19 has pulled our focus onto our homes and furniture retailer BROSA is living proof, with a massive spike in sales and social media followers since the pandemic. More than ever, people are concentrating on interior design, as the increased time indoors makes us reevaluate our living spaces, how they function and make us feel.

BROSA have seen sales grow by more than 180% since March, with contemporary designs like their Ada Swivel Chair being particularly popular. Even the brand’s Instagram followers have jumped 60% since the Australia-wide lockdown.

During this period, the way in which people shop has also fundamentally changed. BROSA firmly believe that the future is led by a “digital-first omni-channel strategy”. Originally existing solely as an online retailer, BROSA opened a Melbourne studio last year, and they opened their first walk-in showroom in Sydney last week.

“We’re focused on continuing our mission to change the furniture industry for the better, to grow our team with the very best talent, and to transform traditional furniture shopping,” says CEO and co-founder Ivan Lim.

The new Rosebery studio

This integration of the digital and the physical caters to the unique nature of each customer; some will turn online for inspiration, research, and to purchase, while others love to talk to a stylist in person – to see, touch and feel the products before transitioning to the digital sphere.

The new ‘Studio+’ in Sydney’s Rosebery, like its Melbourne counterpart, isn’t just another shop. While it showcases a wide range of practical design-led furniture, allowing customers to touch and sit on it, it’s complemented in-store by some of the innovations the digital brand is known for, including augmented reality. QR codes allow you to shop unassisted by scanning the code, and even being able to purchase on the spot.

Stylists are on hand to help you if you’d like. But if you’d rather just scan your own QR code, that’s cool too!

Visitors are invited to bring their moodboards and colour swatches, or simply come to be inspired. But if you can’t, or don’t want to, make it in, BROSA’s online services include virtual tours of the Sydney and Melbourne studios and, for a more personalised experience, virtual consults with a BROSA stylist. You can book online for a free 45-minute appointment that consists of working with you on your floorplans, ideal product selection, and inspiration.

Customers can also view products in 360 degrees and “view at home” through augmented reality – like a virtual test drive, that lets you see the pieces you’ve selected in a real-life context.

“Due to the shifting nature of the furniture industry, and the recently accentuated focus on crafting a beautiful and intentional living space, this digital-physical fusion is ideal for those who desire a fully immersive retail experience.”

Recliner chairs are cool again. No, really!

Sponsored by Brosa

More retirement home than chic abode, the humble (yet much loved) recliner chair doesn’t exactly have a name as stylish furniture icon. It always struck me as such a shame that something so damn comfy had to be so ugly, in many cases! So I was blown away by Brosa’s successful attempt at making them cool again and had to share!

The slimline Calypso

Recliners weren’t previously in the Brosa range and they realised their only competitors were traditional, dark, dated, or all of the above. “The market is saturated with leather, and we wanted to bring a fun and vibrant approach,” said category manager Anna Scafidas “There have also been advances in technology which could be adapted to these products.”

The Sloan

Anna agrees that the traditional recliner chair has suffered from a bad reputation in the style stakes. “The classic traditional designs in older colours and fabrics can be dated and also bulky looking, taking centre stage for the wrong reasons! They seem ‘lazy’ rather than comfortable, supportive and relaxing.” Ultimately, there was not much out there with on-trend colours or fabrics.

Brosa’s new electric recliners have an easy to use button and smooth German technology makes for a comfortable recline with lower back support. The contemporary designs are both good-looking and understated.

Soft curves and organic shapes have been used to great effect, with premium fabrics in muted colours (Calico Cream, Spearmint Green, Steel Blue and Aubergine Purple). The armchairs work in well with a variety of styles.

There are three chair designs as well as a love seat (two-seater sofa). My favourite’s the Calyspo.

We think even Frasier Crane would approve if Marty brought one of these home!

Brosa: Stylish on-trend furniture at affordable prices

Sponsored by Brosa

Since launching six years ago, with a primarily Scandi-inspired aesthetic, Australian furniture company Brosa (it means ‘smile’ in Icelandic), has expanded its range to include mid-century, Hamptons, traditional, modern and coastal inspired pieces. While offering a great online furniture buying experience, it’s also a one-stop shop for stylish looks that won’t break the bank.

Brosa
Brosa’s ‘Slim chest of drawers’ (right) is one of its most popular designs

Occupying that mid-tier space, between IKEA and more high-end furniture brands, Brosa keeps costs down by owning its supply chain and doing most of its business online. While traditional furniture retailers have an array of middlemen standing between the production process and the customer, Brosa has streamlined the process, allowing it to deliver very accessible prices straight to you.

Brosa
The gorgeous ‘Greta’ sideboard (right) is a customer favourite

Promising a better way to buy furniture, Brosa has built a business around delivering a seamless browsing and buying experience, while providing practical advice throughout the purchasing journey. Customers can search by room or style (categories include mid-century, traditional, modern boho and Hamptons) and can order up to five free fabric samples. And to make purchasing even easier, the company has a dedicated interior design team that offers in-depth styling consultations, mood boards, floor plans and 3D visualisations.

And while Brosa originally launched as an e-commerce brand, it has since opened two showrooms (in Sydney and Melbourne) in response to customer demand. But, rather than acting as traditional retail spaces, they’re staffed by qualified interior designers and stylists, offering all the advice above, in-person. The brand opened the showrooms, because many of its customers wanted to touch and feel its products. It has plans to open more showrooms soon.

Brosa also offers ‘white glove’ delivery with any purchase. With this service, the delivery team will move your item to the room of your choice, assemble the item, and take its packaging away for recycling. As furniture delivery goes, does it get much better than that?

To celebrate Brosa, we’re giving away two of its best-selling pieces; the Mia Coffee Table With Shelf, $379 and Mia Nest of Tables, $329.

Stylish entertainment units: Amy’s top picks

With the television often the focal point of the lounge room, finding something stylish to place it on can present quite the challenge. Traditionally, entertainment units have erred on the utilitarian side but there are some fabulous ones around if you know where to look.

Iniko Judalia entertainment unit: Aside from offering plenty of storage, including open cubby holes that are ideal for styling your favourite things, I like the way that this unit takes the focus off the television. $1159.

Globewest Willow woven entertainment unit: I love the earthiness of this piece and it features bang on-trend rattan. $2760.

Brosa Hertz entertainment unit: Available in white wash, sandy and dark brown, this unit looks far more high-end that its $699 price tag.

6ixty Adita entertainment unit: Made from solid American oak, the sliding doors on this piece are reversible featuring wood on one side, and white and grey paint on the other. It’s perfect for when you want a change of colour scheme. $1649.

Urban Couture Manly TV/Entertainment unit: Black ash veneer and a black powder-coated steel base make a perfect union. $1595.

Brosa Potter entertainment unit: Another one from Brosa, I love the chevron detail in this piece. $599.

Life Interiors Hendrix entertainment unit: Blonde wood (with vertical detailing) and black industrial style legs combine to create this elegant unit. $1319.

Zuster Embellish entertainment unit: I LOVE everything that Zuster create and this entertainment unit is no exception. There’s a tv hiding behind those central cupboards (the best!) and the mirror-backed adjustable shelves offer ample styling and storage options too. The only drawback is the price tag. $16,500.

Friday furniture find: my picks from online retailer Brosa

Have you heard of online furniture store Brosa? Their model is based on doing everything in house, cutting price markups and making furniture available to you cheaper and quicker. What’s not to like?! Today, I’ve rounded up 10 of my favourites from their range. You may notice more than a few gold accents (I’m nothing if not predictable!).

There’s nothing more useful than an extendable dining table and I love the shape of the Romulus (available in black oak and natural oak). It starts as a neat 120cm diameter and extends to seat six comfortably. It’s made of engineered wood and is $1,499.

Extendable round dining tables are few and far between so this is standout for me and I love the leg shape.

We all know I’m in love with the gold accents and this McCoy chest of drawers is a winner. Relaxed luxury at its finest for $749. This would look great in my guest bedroom and is a real statement piece.

I love a sideboard; both practical storage and excellent styling opportunity! This fresh take on rattan (a trend that’s going nowhere soon) is made of solid mango wood. The Bruna sideboard is $1,199.

I love the elegant shape of the Dianna 3-seater lounge for $899, available in 16 colours. Speaking of colours, most of Brosa’s rage comes in more colours than you can shake a stick at. The hardest part is choosing which to go with!

The coffee table is one of the most important furniture choices in your home, if you ask me. The Baroque, in black marble and brass, would look great in a more formal, Hollywood Regency style interior. It looks much more expensive than its $599 price tag.

This large Artemis coffee table is so unique it warrants a mention too. It’s built using wood recycled from ancient Chinese doors and buildings. How cool is that?! This hexagonal find is sure to be a talking point and will set you back $599.

I have two of these Portobello stools/ottomans in grey at home and they are super useful extra seating when we have people over, plus they double as foot stools, and even side tables! They come in 19 colour options so there’s something to blend (or pop) in any room! $187. I love styling two ottomans opposite a lounge, on the other side of a coffee table.

This Gisele queen size gas lift bed has heaps of storage underneath the mattress and a modern, relaxed look. Well priced quality beds can be hard to come by and I think this is a snip at $1,148.

The sophisticated design of the Costa table and chairs looks more like it should be used indoors! Don’t be afraid of using some colour outdoors. In fact, I actively encourage it! This could work on a larger balcony, in a back yard or on a front verandah. $608.

If you’re short on space (but still need somewhere to rest your cuppa), the compact Clint side table makes the perfect bedside. I love the subtle gold accents on this clever and stylish design. It would also work just as well next to a sofa or armchair. $229.

What did you think of my picks? I’d love to know if you’ve bought anything from Brosa?
