Bang & Olufsen celebrate 90 years with rose gold collection

During the roaring 20s, Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen started their journey into technology, and with the accompanying flourish of Art Deco it was clear that luxury, glamour and exuberance were at the heart of the time. Fast-forward 90 years and the company has launched a collection that truly captures the mood and style of that era.

Combined with warm and elegant walnut wood recently developed in cooperation with fashion designer Stine Goya, the Love Affair Collection sees six products rejuvenated with a new palette of rose gold using a unique dyeing process. Rose gold represents love, and what better inspiration is there for such a decadent collection?

Illustrator Megan Hess collaborates with Designer Rugs

Everyone knows how much we love those illustrating Hess sisters at Interiors Addict. And following her recent forray into homewares with the release of a vase, Megan Hess has now collaborated with Designer Rugs on her own range. Not surprisingly, always elegant Megan has taken inspiration from a bygone age of glamour and refinement.

The Vintage Jewels comprises three intricately detailed, hand-tufted, New Zealand wool and bamboo designs. “Creating my first collection with Designer Rugs has been one of the most exciting collaborations that I’ve ever worked on,” she said. “Standing here with the finished rugs under my toes, they are just as I imagined them to be; three illustrations brought to life by the finest artisans in the most beautiful wools, ready to fill a room with all the same inspiration that went into creating them.”

She adds: “I really wanted each design to tell its own story and be the anchor to everything that surrounds it. Like the conductor of an orchestra, a rug is often the piece that sets the tone and leads the other elements.

“I’ve always loved classic images from a bygone era where women wore elaborate jewelled turbans and sipped champagne! When designing the collection, I imagined beautiful rooms filled with antiques jewels, velvet chaise lounges, gilt mirrors and beautiful buttoned upholstery. The tones of gold, silver and peach felt very old-school glamour and reminded me of the classic Parisian Atelier.”

So gorgeous, so Megan!

Bandhini’s new collection: a riot of colourful cushions inspired by American glamour

It’s a big change from Bandhini Homewear Design’s usual mix of neutrals and textures but this latest collection is no less beautiful. I saw the cushions for myself last month and they really are stunning.

Designer Tai Schaffler admits she was nervous about the change. “But it was time for us to get out there and positively surprise our clients. We still have some beautiful classic black and beiges this year (we wouldn’t be Bandhini if we didn’t). The response so far has been incredible. There has been a lot of love for our yellow and velvet cushions.”

The collection, which was shot at the Mary McDonald-designed LUXE Hotel in LA, has been inspired by the cultural differences between America, where the products have been sold since 2010, Australia, where everything is designed, and India, where it is made.

Come and meet me and get a glam makeover with De’Longhi’s Icona Vintage

So what are you doing next weekend? Would you like to come and meet me, get a glam makeover, have your photo taken and be in with the chance of winning a set of gorgeous new appliances for your kitchen? Sound good?

Icona Vintage 1

You may have noticed I love lipstick and am never without a full face of makeup (I may or may not have friends who call me ‘doll face’). Some might say I’m from the more is more  school of cosmetics! So when De’Longhi asked if I’d like to team up with them on a fun event where I’d get to meet my readers and they’d get makeovers, I couldn’t say no. On top of that, they’re launching their new Icona Vintage range in the most gorgeous colours and I genuinely love them. Who knew kitchen appliances could be that good looking, I ask you?
