Rattan furniture trend: Our top 8 statement chairs!

The rattan furniture trend is certainly one with legs. We first wrote about its mass resurgence back in 2017 and the look has remained a constant in our Pinterest and Instagram feeds since. And while the material has been used to create all sorts of different furniture pieces, our favourite iteration is the statement armchair. Here are our top eight picks, perfect for Hamptons, rustic and coastal homes.

Currently coveting: OZ Design Furniture’s winter collection

Cementing its place in the Australian interiors scene as a reliable and on-trend resource, OZ Design Furniture returns this winter with four new collections inspired by the latest looks. “Our experienced designers have created collections inspired by the global, coastal, urban and abode trends that will be seen in the market this winter,” says marketing coordinator Chelsea Vanderburg.

Carson dining table with Messan dining chairs

The diverse collection sees a brand new array of sofas and designer chairs available in a variety of colours and fabrics with leather and velvet high up in the mix.  “We predict velvets will be strong this season, in stunning cool winter tones, alongside luxe homewares,” says Chelsea.

The mid-century inspired Baxter buffet and a gorgeous horse print

There’s plenty of gorgeous new affordable art available too that embraces all the current trends – think abstracts plus plenty of gorgeous animals.

The Denver sofa – I love its slimline black legs paired with a pale green textured twill fabric and statement seams

As for a collection standout, the velvet 3-seat sofa is pretty gorgeous and it’s a piece that Chelsea is coveting too. “The Spectre sofa in petrol velvet is a favourite. It’s modern and minimal with stunning design features such as bolster cushions and slim matte black legs.”

The stunning ‘Spectre’ velvet sofa – swoon! The affordable art selection is fabulous too.

The coastal trend features whitewash timber while natural timber with black detailing works for the industrial, global and urban trends. And as for what will be next on trend, Chelsea is banking on the popularity of a specific hue. “Next season, I think mustard will be big!”

I’m coveting the geometric vibe of the Porto bookcase – it’s perfect for displaying your favourite things. It’s seen here with the Ada designer chair

Get excited about staying in with OZ Design’s new collections!

Sponsored by OZ Design Furniture

Even if you prefer sunnier weather, if there’s one really good thing about winter drawing in, it’s the chance to layer up and get cosy at home, changing your look for the new season. As if interiors addicts need a reason to change their décor though?!

OZ Design Furniture have some beautiful new furniture in store this week to take winter interiors to the next level! As our thoughts turn to hibernation weather, our homes become our favourite place to stay in and have friends over. OZ Design Furniture have created their new collections for living and dining spaces inspired by the latest interior trends so whether you’re curling up and reading a good book or entertaining, home is the most inviting place to be. As usual, the brand has its four key looks to choose from: abode, global, coastal and arthouse.

This season, OZ Abode showcases how to create a relaxed feel which is also sophisticated and functional. It’s all about warmth and layered texture. Muddied hues of on-trend blush and deep blues create the perfect backdrop to allow the layering of multiple finishes and colours. Moody pastels are showcased through matt accessorising, thick weaved cushions and a hint of a luxe with velvet touches (my favourite!). Metallic and marble accents (these trends aren’t going anywhere any time soon!) and floral and abstract patterns in textiles, keep the look fresh and playful.

The ever popular OZ Global collection reflects cultural inspiration from around the world, where the combination of soft brown leathers, raw timbers and tribal colours is key. The sleek lines and soft tan leather of the Boulevard sofa combined with the rustic finishes of the new Penfold range are reflective of this look. Natural hides thrown over surfaces heighten the warmth and depth, and slimline silhouettes are given volume with throws, graphic cushions and a hint of leather. Gold and copper accent homewares and botanicals add to the raw, earthy and organic vibe.

Don’t expect any cliches from the OZ Coast collection! This is the beach vibe reinvented! With natural textures and whitewash timbers still being at the heart of every coastal setting, this season OZ Design Furniture show a different take by styling neutral tones with hues of grey, complemented by muted pastels. The use of basket weaves, linen and thick knit wool throws creates a sense of warmth. Another distinct look comes from the use of rustic brown timbers with muted greens and over-scaled botanicals to create a tropical room setting. We love the light and bright Darby dining setting (pictured below).

DARBY DINING SETTING

OZ Arthouse is an eclectic blend of mid-century style with a contemporary edge. This season, the collection is about the balance of sleek lines and light timbers, complemented with accents of monochrome and pastel to create a modern and refined room. Check out the new Violet dining setting, Marilyn buffet and Porto desk. The Scandi influence is very obvious, and works perfectly with geometric, faceted, copper and organic finishes in accessories.

My favourites from OZ Design Furniture’s new ranges

Sponsored by OZ Design Furniture

You should pop down to your local OZ Design Furniture store to check out their gorgeous new Spring/Summer collections! It’s probably my favourite part of the homewares year: new bright and breezy furniture and accessories to welcome the warmer months!

I love the retro vibe of the new Carson coffee table in beautiful solid timber, from $1,449

This season, they’re promising to take interiors to the next level, embracing the Australian lifestyle and how we love to live at home. I love how they, as usual, have curated four distinct looks: Abode, Arthouse, Coast and Global. For those who need a little help putting a look together they can simply choose from the one; the more adventurous can play stylist by mixing and matching from all four if they like!

You can expect the same OZ Design Furniture timeless design and style of course, but with a good dose of freshness for the new season. OZ Abode stays true to its mantra of showcasing beautifully crafted furniture, but a few new additions kick the look up a notch. The Hunter designer chair is a clear standout, but the Cantina dining table is a great staple classic. This look is all about clean lines and quality craftsmanship, styled with bold pattern and texture in fun bright colours.

OZ Global has dark and moody moments this season, pulling a tonne of inspiration from other cultures. I love the fresh botanical influences. Earthy tones (already being predicted as popular in the paint companies’ latest colour forecasts) and organic materials (you can never go wrong with nature, I say!) are trending now, with new pieces like the Cannes dining, coffee and side tables plus console (I want this in my hallway!) in rich marble stealing the show. Who doesn’t love marble?!

CANES CRIMSON
The marble-topped Cannes dining table

SOHO SLING MARTIN

Don’t forget to add the odd gold and copper accent (I have many in my home and they’re going nowhere any time soon!) from the new accessories options, adding to the raw, earthy and organic vibe.

OZ Coast recognises that Aussies never get over the beach, but you’ll find punchier colours in this year’s style story. A large number of Australians will always love this look, not surprisingly when so many are lucky enough to live near the ocean. Sunny yellows and deep blues sit against gorgeous whitewashed timbers, while rattan and wicker feature prominently. Among the new pieces, I love the Avoca buffet; functional and good looking.

SANTORINI NELSON (1)

OZ Arthouse is a hit for those who love the eclectic, not too ‘done’ look. It’s blended but balanced, offering the chance to celebrate pastels and bright tones together. Geometrics also get their moment alongside other bold patterns and motifs. The Tatler modular sofa is a brand new addition and is set to be a hit this season.

The new Tatler sofa

As usual, there are countless timber and upholstery options on almost everything. If you don’t want to customise, certain products marked for express delivery can be with you in a guaranteed four weeks!

OZ Design’s online store is launching soon (watch this space for more information), showcasing the latest and greatest in homewares for spring and summer all ready to make their way into your home. In the meantime, check out the latest online catalogue.

5 great lamps under $200

I don’t know about you but I love lamp lighting in the cooler months to create a much cosier vibe than overheads. I picked five favourites for all tastes that won’t break the bank at under $200.

Empirical Style’s Australian designed and made cage lights are available in pretty much any colour combo of cage and cord you can imagine, with many optional extras such as dimmers. You can safely use this as a plug-in lamp and put it on your bedside, or anywhere you fancy really! From $177.50.

Cage-light-cloth-cord_2539-700x1050

You can never have too many pops of shiny gold in your interiors if you ask me, and this Audrey lamp from Beacon Lighting is a bargain at $149.

Freedom are KILLING IT in the lamp stakes this season. Among my favourites is the Metro Table Lamp in copper, $149.

Also check out the Penny ($49.95) which comes in dusty blue or antique white.

If your style’s more classic, I think the Bloomingdale, from Oz Design Furniture, ($149) looks a lot more expensive than it is and would suit many rooms and styles of interior.
