Last week, a little tired of seeing so many replica Tolix stools at breakfast bars across the country, we put together a list of some great non-replica options. Readers loved it, so we thought we’d do the exact same thing for dining chairs. Below are 10 beautiful and unique chairs by some exceptional Aussie brands. Not a replica Eames DSW in sight!

On sale (that’s what we like to hear!) but for $844 (ah… there’s always a catch!), the Lopez Dining Chair from Jimmy Possum is individual and beautiful. With the pattern placement on the chair completely random, no two chairs are the same. Featuring a fully curved design all carved by hand, the frame is made from solid hardwood.

Probably my favourite chair on the list (I know, big call!) the Scandinavian Dining Chair from Harpers Project is elegantly crafted by hand. Available in a range of seat colours and patterns, it retails for $300 and will be back in stock this January.

At the bargain price of $119, the Fletcher Dining Chair from Freedom is chic and on trend. Coming in natural and charcoal, it is a subtle option for your dining room.

An ideal modern dining chair, the Christof Chair from Curious Grace is made from polypropylene with varnished wooden Natural beech legs. Available in white and grey, it retails for $195.

A luxurious addition to any dining table, the Fenwick Dining Chair ($449) from Barnaby Lane combines a blonde teak frame with a leather seat and back. Available in blush and tan, it also doubles as a gorgeous occasional chair for the bedroom or living space.

A robust folding chair crafted from solid oak timber, the Storytellers Chair (left) from Nomi is perfect for the unexpected dinner guest, chit chats while fishing or ghost stories by the fire. Featuring a quirky wiggle in the frame to optimise comfort and efficient storing when folded, prices start at $249. It can also be customised in a wide range of colours.

With a galvanised metal frame and linen upholstery, the Atlantic Dining Arm Chair provides that sought-after casual luxe aesthetic. Available from Max Sparrow, it retails for $695 (was $1,045!).

Made entirely from sustainably forested European Birch ply, the Square Chair ($295) from Plyroom is timeless and versatile. Featuring a clean-lined structure and flexible upright backrest, it is perfect for any occasion.

The Partridge Chair ($845) by DesignByThem, is a welcome addition to the Partridge range of humble, well-made timber furniture. Made from FSC White Ash timber, powder coated aluminium brackets and a galvanised steel backrest, custom finishes are also available.

A quick google search for bar stools will have you met with replica upon replica… and we can’t be the only ones who are tired of seeing replica Tolix stools absolutely everywhere! So to put a bit more versatility into our lives and to give a shout out to all those amazing Aussie brands, we’ve pulled together six more unique stools for your breakfast bar.

Featuring the bullet-proof combo of marble and timber, the clean lined Marble Stool from Harpers Project is refined and raw. Multifunctional, it can be used as a stool in the kitchen or as a side table in the bedroom. It retails for $299, which is a huge bargain if you ask us!

Featuring luxe leather threading, textural hide and a delicate gold frame, the Ayres Hide Barstool from Max Sparrow is a rarity indeed! And you’d hope so, as it retails for $995!

Inspired by the hipster cafes of New York, the Bronx Bar Stool from Freedom is industrial yet timeless. With a steel base and timber seat design, it is both comfortable and affordable, retailing for $269.

Most bricks and mortar stores go online later but Retrojan has done it the other way around!

There’s a new furniture showroom in town for our VIC readers. Last week, Retrojan opened its first showroom in Abbotsford, Melbourne. It’s packed with their ever expanding range of home furniture (I have a few pieces myself) with a distinct focus on the Scandinavian style.

The old warehouse has been renovated and is near Weylandts, giving you two interiors destinations to visit in the one trip!

Director David Janovic wants to give online customers, many of whom are local, a physical space where they can view the goods in the flesh.

Where: 2 Harper Street, Abbotsford VIC 3067.

Opening hours: 9am-5pm Monday-to-Friday, 10am-4pm Saturdays and 11am-3pm Sundays. Closed on all Victorian public holidays. Customer parking is available outside the front of the building or on nearby Nicholson Street (2-hour parking).

There were some great things to lust after in last night’s ground floor apartment reveal. Here’s some of my favourites.

I really loved the textures and colours going on in Matt and Kim’s bedroom. Not exactly my taste but I still appreciated the look and some of the great finishes.

Whoops, it’s Wednesday. I forgot to post Off-Topic Tuesday yesterday and the alliteration has such a nice ring to it! Ah well, I’m here anyway!

Today’s off-topic post is about doubt and about worrying too much about what other people think about what you’re doing. At the weekend, I was asked to speak about blogging at the Kidspot Voices of 2013 masterclass. A real honour. One of the questions to the panel (with the fab Viv from Ish & Chi and Rebecca from Wee Birdy, moderated by the fabulous Pip from Meet Me At Mikes) was do you ever doubt yourself? Now, it may seem from my blog and even from meeting me in real life, that I’m a super confident person who knows their stuff. Let me let you into a little secret: I am as self-doubting as the next person. I worry about what people think about me and might be saying about me behind my back. ALL THE TIME. I live in constant fear of being found out. What for, I’m not sure!
