Providing an exclusive first look at Scandinavian furniture brand SKETCH, GlobeWest has partnered with Christina Banos, the talented illustrator behind Homedrawn.

Creating a series of artworks that fuse together the product designs of SKETCH’s highly skilled Danish designers with Christina’s delicate and distinctive style, the illustrations focus on highlights from the 33-piece SKETCH collection.

“As a distributor of the impressive new Scandinavian collection, we wanted to preview SKETCH in a memorable and creative way,” explains GlobeWest marketing leader, Kirsten Thompson. “Given the obvious connection of illustration to the brand name, Homedrawn was a natural choice for collaboration. The artworks created combine highly anticipated arrivals from the new SKETCH range, alongside complimentary GlobeWest homewares.”

Create a Coastal, Hamptons and Scandi look with Feast Watson Liming White Floor Finish

Sponsored by Feast Watson

With its milky white appearance, Feast Watson Liming White Floor Finish is ideal for introducing tranquillity into a space. Perfect for creating softer looks (such as Coastal or Hamptons), it can also be the perfect base for contrasting and bold interiors (like Scandi), when paired with black accents in complementing fixtures or hard furnishings.

Dress the look: Coastal and Hamptons

FW_LIMING WHITE FLOOR FINISH (2)

Light and breezy, with a palette drawn from nature (think sand, shells, sea and sky), it blends the outdoors and indoors perfectly. White is the hallmark colour of coastal interiors and should be accompanied by neutral colours and crisp and clean fabrics, like linens and muslins. Furniture is an eclectic mix of old and new, such as recycled timber and vintage rattan juxtaposed against plush upholstered sofas.

Dress the look: Scandinavian

FW_LIMING WHITE FLOOR FINISH_smaller

Renowned for its pared back look, the Scandi style juxtaposes a white blank canvas with sleek black fixtures and pops of colour. With a focus on flawless craftsmanship — a timber table coupled with a beautiful set of upholstered dining chairs is a must – there is also a magnitude of layered textures (like leather, fur and linen) and pops of colour through cushions and throws.

Creating these two looks is simple with the Liming White Floor Finish. Gone are the traditional methods, where you required a direct stain and a clear top coat which would often result in yellowing over time. Now with the Liming White Floor Finish there is an easy three coat system, allowing users to choose the intensity of the colour. This clever formulation creates a beautiful finish while still allowing the natural grain of the timber to shine through.

FW_4L LimingWhiteFloor

FEAST WATSON LIMING WHITE FLOOR FINISH combines a traditional lime stain with a professional clear polyurethane for a ‘soft milky white colour’ and protection for interior timber floors. The semi-transparent coating adds rich colour whilst allowing the grain pattern of timber to remain visible. As the formula is water based, Liming White Floor Finish will not yellow over time and you can complete your project in a single day. Apply one coat for a subtle pale colour, or multiple coats to build the opacity and whiteness. A clear top coat is not required with three coats of Liming White Floor Finish.

Online furniture store Retrojan opens first showroom

Most bricks and mortar stores go online later but Retrojan has done it the other way around!

IMG_3311

There’s a new furniture showroom in town for our VIC readers. Last week, Retrojan opened its first showroom in Abbotsford, Melbourne. It’s packed with their ever expanding range of home furniture (I have a few pieces myself) with a distinct focus on the Scandinavian style.

The old warehouse has been renovated and is near Weylandts, giving you two interiors destinations to visit in the one trip!

Director David Janovic wants to give online customers, many of whom are local, a physical space where they can view the goods in the flesh.

Today’s online find: bargain agate coasters

I love agate coasters. I bought mine from one of those gorgeous country town markets ages ago. And I lust after the Jonathan Adler gilt-edged versions on a regular basis. Now Zakkia is stocking them (sans gold) at a very reasonable $8.90 each.

They come in 3 colours and are sold individually so you can mix and match. Spend over $99 to get free shipping. Adding some of their gorgeous door/drawer knobs to your basket may help you get there….

This Scandi-style tray ($29.90) also caught my eye while I was browsing…

Beacon upping their lighting game

Good, affordable lighting can be hard to come across in this country. If you want to buy online, even harder. I’ve heard Bunnings have some cool stuff going on at the moment, which I must check out, and I’ve been pretty impressed with Beacon too, having seen a lot of their stuff on The Block. What do you think of their latest limited edition Stockholm range, which is only available online? It’s all made from natural timber.

These  natural wood pendants are $795.

The peacock bedhead with a touch of Scandi

I really like these new bamboo plywood bedheads by Bohemian Home.

“I’m so proud of these bedheads! They look amazing, ” says designer Emma Risvanis. “I had a cane peacock bedhead as a child and that served as the inspiration behind this one. The Australian Family Tree design (below) was inspired by our beautiful bush animals but I wanted to have that Scandi look that I adore.”

The bedheads are made from bamboo plywood with the design printed on.
Made to order in 2-3 weeks in single or king single with two bamboo colours available. Currently black print only but colour options coming soon!
RRP $1280 – $1380 | www.bohemianhome.com.au
