Would you look at these gold dining chairs?!

Sponsored by Chatswood Chase Sydney

Today is the last of our weekly posts with Chatswood Chase Sydney to celebrate their July Homewares Month. This week, you can see a dining room setting come to life in the video.

You can’t go past the super chic gold statement dining chairs from Kartell. I love this brand’s quirky and cool furniture and homewares and think it’s great they have a store on the north side of the bridge now in Sydney. It’s a great space to visit for ideas and much of what they sell is great for apartment living (and that’s so many of us these days!). I love how these chairs tie in with the gold wall planters from good old Kmart.

It’s really fun to properly lay a table for a dinner party or even just to enjoy a long lunch with family. All too often these days we eat on the couch so I’m all for bringing a bit more formality and sense of occasion to meal times.

Video: We love this bedroom look from Chatswood Chase Sydney

Sponsored by Chatswood Chase Sydney

I’m loving this week’s room set by Chatswood Chase Sydney in celebration of their Homewares Month. Perhaps it’s because it features some of the same cushions from west elm I have on my own bed! Seriously though, you can’t beat this season’s gorgeous blush pink. Can’t get enough! See this room come together in the video below.

homewares set week three 1

I love how budget and more high end brands have been used together to great effect here. And the use of the three Kmart artworks in a row makes a nice change from one larger piece. At just $14 each, why not?!

My favourites are that fab geometric side table at the end of the bed from west elm and the Scandi-style clothes rail from Kmart.

Watch styled room sets come to life at Chatswood Chase in July

Sponsored by Chatswood Chase

Chatswood Chase is celebrating all things home at the Sydney north shore shopping centre this month.
And that’s not hard when they have some of our favourite furniture and homewares stores under one roof. During July, we’ll be sharing the creation of a different room suite each week, with everything used available from the centre.

Today, we’re kicking off with this gorgeous children’s bedroom. Watch the magic happen in the video below, then see a full list of where to buy everything.

It features pieces by some of my favourite stores for little people’s rooms, including Pottery Barn Kids and Incy Interiors, where pretty much everything in my son’s room is from! Although this is a little boy’s room, the bed, drawers and desk would work really well in a girl’s room too and are classic enough that they could last into the teenage years. I always recommend investing in the key pieces like a good quality bed and rug, and then have fun with more affordable styling pieces which you won’t feel bad about changing up every couple of years. And always remember that kid’s rooms need to be as practical and safe as they are good looking! How cool is the silver speedster from Kidstuff? As much a piece of decor as it is a fun toy!

If you’re at Chatswood Chase Sydney, make sure you head to the Style Hub on level 2, where they are featuring a different room setting each week this month, showcasing the latest trends for every room in the house. If you’re not in Sydney, don’t worry, because you’ll be able to watch all the videos here on Interiors Addict.

Incy Interiors: the Australian kids interiors success story

Here at Interiors Addict we are big fans of Incy Interiors, so much so that Jen chose their Lucy change table in mint to be a feature in her nursery (the big reveal will come once it’s finished, we promise)! And we’re not the only ones. Their cots, in particular, can be seen all over magazines, blogs and Pinterest!

incy interiors addict[contextly_sidebar id=”BI8kcZPH2FiUFF4E4DbTUXVNsOlah7cD”]Starting four years ago, Incy Interiors began making designer children’s furniture, before more recently adding adult bedroom furniture to their repertoire. With a new flagship store in Sydney’s Chatswood Chase, the once one-woman show has now grown into a team of 13 and founder Kristy Withers has one person to thank: her son, Oscar.

“Finding the perfect big boy bed for my son Oscar inspired the launch of Incy,” explains Kristy. “I searched and searched for over six months to try to find the perfect brown iron bed. I had seen lots of gorgeous beds overseas and I tried to import them. I also tried to have them made here, as well as buying an old one and re-spraying it, but it was either too expensive or I was worried about the safety.”

So instead, Kristy decided to start from scratch herself, designing and making what would be the first of many beds, the aptly titled Oscar. And while she admits she’ll always have a soft spot for her first creation, nowadays her personal favourite product is the Eden (rose gold) bed, because as Kristy so rightly says: “What girl doesn’t want a gold bed?!”

incy interiors addict 3

As a huge fan of metallics, Kristy is glad to see them gaining in popularity. And with a personal redecorating project on the cards, transitioning her daughter’s nursery to a big girl’s room, a peach and rose gold colour palette is currently the frontrunner. “Monochrome and pastels are still going strong but I’m excited to see that metallics, especially copper and rose gold, are making an appearance in the nurseries of some super cool new arrivals.”

For Kristy, nurseries need to tick two boxes: to be a haven for the new arrival, whilst also fitting into the rest of the house. So to make this room a reality, Kristy recommends spending the big bucks on one or two statement pieces and going for more thrifty pieces elsewhere. “The absolute must-buy product is a beautiful cot. Even in the smallest of spaces, a divine cot allows you to create a beautiful space for your little one. If space and budget allow, a good change table and comfortable (but also stylish) chair will make those hours of feeding and changing a lot easier. Then if you have those gorgeous pieces that grab your attention, you can go for more budget savvy items elsewhere.”

Megan Morton in four-poster collaboration with Incy Interiors

The familiar look of a traditional four-poster bed has been given a modern makeover with Megan Morton calling it the little black dress of the bedroom world! The new range from the super stylist and Incy Interiors features a simple metal design, complete with a matte finish in your choice of black or creamy white. Of course, it being Incy, you can request custom colours too.

Incy-beds-250714-9

Initially specialising in children’s interiors, Incy have more recently granted the requests of fans by branching out to include queen size, and finally, king size beds (I have long had my eye on the Eden in rose gold). Founder and director Kristy Withers said that a collection as special as this one should be shared by children and parents alike, hence the four-posters coming in single size too. “The classic design of the Megan Morton Collaboration will suit bedrooms for people of all ages. Its simplistic lines and neutral tones will complement rooms with both classic and modern designs.”

Incy-beds-250714-16

Megan and Kristy met last year when the Incy team attended Megan’s children’s bedroom workshop at The School. “We learned a lot about how customers might be decorating their rooms with our beds,” Kristy said.

“I once designed a bed (for a client) to suit the joys of using an iPad in bed,” Megan said. “This is my tonic to that bed: a bed that doesn’t encourage a virtual life! This bed is in favour of sleep and love and fun only. But I also wanted a bed that wasn’t a low rider. Something princess and the pea-ish, but without all the pomp. Something you can hang your clothes over if you need to, or dress with flowers. Something that would take antique linen as well as sateen cotton. A bed that would add a feature to a featureless room or work to downplay any inherent architecture.

Incy-beds-250714-11

“What I have learned from years of bed styling and room drooling is that most people do have a lovely bed but then feel the need to fill that space above bed with painting or large scale ‘something.’ This bed does away with that and fills the room perfectly.”

Kristy reveals her own bedroom is a family affair: “Having two kids who like to hop into bed with us in the early morning, a king size bed is mandatory for us. I am almost beside myself with excitement that the four-poster comes in a king size as a queen has been the largest we have gone to in the past. Now I just need to decide on the colour – I can’t choose between the navy and pistachio!”

Incy-beds-250714-14

Megan says she designed the bed to be an ultimate bedroom solver, giving you the framework to add your own twist. “I see it as the little black dress of the interiors world, it’s so versatile and adaptable, you can dress it up one day and give it a completely different look the next. I want to get one for sleeping on and a second to hang all my clothes and maxis from. The structure really is perfect!”

Incy-beds-250714-6

Incy Interiors have grown quickly and built a reputation for themselves. “We come from a big family (our dad is one of nine) and we have been brought up with strong family values. Not only is most of the Incy team family, but our two manufacturers are also family businesses. It’s so great to see our manufacturers grow as we do. The manufacturer we have had since inception is two brothers who were also a start-up company. They have since grown from five employees to over 40.”

We love your Aussie business success story Incy, can’t wait to see what you do next!

The four-poster beds are available in single ($799), queen ($1,299) and king ($1,599) from Incy Interiors online. Their new Chatswood Chase store in Sydney is due to open at the end of September. More stockists will be announced soon.

The winner of August 2014 7 Vignettes

Oh my giddy aunt, what a week! More gorgeousness than you could shake a stick at! And it was all the more overwhelming because I was in Berlin with the most pitiful wifi for four days (think standing on one leg in the corner of a bedroom that wasn’t mine at the right time of day and I might get lucky enough to refresh my Instagram feed)! When I got back to London, I caught up on the visual feast and seeing it all there in one place made me realise just how talented and amazing you all are!

Anyway, there must be a winner, and this month Chantal Brady, social media manager for Williams Sonoma Australia, did the honours. Hand on heart, I would have chosen exactly the same person this time around: brownpaperlemon. Nikki wins the $300 West Elm voucher. Aren’t these images just stunning? They’re so beautiful they make me feel a bit emotional!

Chantal said: “This collection of vignettes really stood out for me because of the way it captured movement. Each vignette appears as if it’s been caught in motion – just beautiful!”

West Elm sponsored this month’s challenge to celebrate the upcoming opening of their second Sydney store in Chatswood Chase. They were generous enough to also offer two $100 vouchers for runners-up and those lucky people are madebyciel (“I loved the simplicity of these vignettes and the confident use of negative space.”) and sarahjanehenry (“At West Elm, we’re all suckers for furry friends, so these vignettes definitely caught my attention – not just the cute face but the consistency in tone and texture across each photo.”).
