Obus clothing brand’s studio transformed by west elm

The fashion studio of cult Melbourne fashion label Obus was transformed recently by the talented team at west elm. And what was formerly a basic white room is now a medley of terracotta and pink that much better reflects the brand known for its smart tailoring, vibrant colours and statement prints.

BEFORE studio

AFTER studio
AFTER studio. A much more inspiring space!

The naturally bright room was repainted with Haymes Paint and a gorgeous burnt orange shade now adorns the fireplace. The centrepiece of the room, the meeting table remains but it’s been refreshed with a variety of different seating options including leather dining chairs and stools custom upholstered in Obus El Castillo print fabric. A terracotta rug helps to define the space and a statement pendant light adds a fabulous touch of drama.

“Our west elm design crew created a space that’s as vibrant and bold as the print and pattern play that Obus creates. The brief was to create a space that’s hardworking – yet inspiring, and to incorporate existing pieces into the design,” says Angus Whyte, west elm’s vice president of country merchandising.

And while a mirror is essential for a fashion brand, the west elm metal framed arched floor mirror looks amazing in the studio, complemented by a west elm Bishop pedestal planter in midnight blue and some much-needed indoor plants.

A multi-tasking piece, the west elm Fulton bar cart takes on different roles depending on what is happening in the studio. It acts as a moveable fitting station when the in-house model is in the studio on a Monday but once Friday rolls around it’s the perfect post-work cocktail station. “I love the idea of pieces serving double-duty, so we stayed focused on making smart, simple additions that complement what was already in play,” says west elm visual lead Rhys Duggan.

Before & after: Fun makeover for drag queen’s room!

“The art of drag is to elevate and express another side of yourself, to really highlight all the special things that make you stand out, but on a heightened level. To be able to do the same for an interior space was an absolute joy and an incredible way to celebrate PRIDE,” says stylist Jono Fleming who performed a magic makeover on Sydney-based drag queen Vybe’s lounge room recently, in celebration of PRIDE month.

Vybe's lounge room
BEFORE Angus Roberts (aka Vybe) in his former lounge room

“Giving a room a makeover is a pretty standard brief, but to give a room a drag makeover is something I would have never expected! The brief was to bring in colour, fun, all the things you’d expect from west elm, but with a camp twist,” says Jono who introduced splashes of colour with the west elm velvet Bradford sofa, Illusionary rug and decorative pieces.

AFTER
AFTER So much fun! The west elm blue velvet Bradford sofa is a modern take on the classic Chesterfield

“I focused on celebrating Vybe’s personality. She’s vibrant, bold and beautiful – the makeover was about creating joy, as well as being a mirror of Vybe’s strength, creativity – she’s a force,” says Jono.

Vybe is otherwise known as Angus Roberts and the rooms strikes a delicate balance that complements both sides of his personality. “The bold, squared off blue sofa serves a more masculine aesthetic but the velvet combined with the pinks in the rug softens the palette and adds a feminine touch. The goal was to marry two sides of a personality into one cohesive space,” says Jono.

Vybe is loving her new room!
Vybe in her new lounge room: The west elm Illusionary rug adds a perfect pop of colour

A celebration of inclusivity, diversity and equality, the iconic PRIDE rainbow is a recurring theme in the room – from the LED coffee table light to the overall colour palette and Vybe’s denim jacket. “We’re celebrating PRIDE so the key was to use every colour in the rainbow! Being bold with colour takes a bit of a push sometimes but set against a neutral backdrop, it can really help make the colours pop and let the furniture do the talking. A bit of brass always adds a touch of glam to a space but you don’t need to go overboard, just a hint will work it’s magic,” says Jono.

And as for Vybe herself, she is rather enamoured with the new space. “I am in LOVE with the result – the space is warm, inviting, stylish and as camp as I am! I can’t wait to kick off my heels and get on the couch at the end of the day!” says Vybe.

west elm’s James Bond inspired Aussie ski apartment

With James Bond as its muse, west elm has partnered with Hotham Holidays to create a spectacularly stylish apartment on the slopes at Victoria’s Mt Hotham alpine resort, just in time for the winter snow season. Featuring lashings of statement Yves Klein blue paired with terracotta tones, metallic flourishes and mid-century furniture, it’s one seriously stylish ski pad.

The open plan apartment is filled with west elm furniture, lighting and homewares

“In this world-first partnership – a ski resort collaborating with a lifestyle retailer – we were excited by the idea of a blank canvas apartment surrounded by the vistas of the Hotham ski slopes and snow-capped mountains. Our aim was to create a luxe and dramatic space that perfectly bookends a day on the slopes. The west elm design crew formed an apartment that’s not only cosy and comfortable but has an air of sophistication too,” says Angus Whyte, vice president of country merchandising for west elm Australia.

The implementation process took place over just two days and the apartment now boasts a bold paint colour courtesy of Haymes Paint too. “Working with Haymes we were really able to instantly transform the space. Opting for a strong wall colour – we saw it as framing the vistas, making Hotham the real star of the show, while west elm’s collection set the scene,” says west elm’s lead visual manager Rhys Duggan.

Starting with a blank canvas, Rhys worked to Hotham Holidays’ brief and used new-season and core collection west elm pieces in the stylish abode. “We decided to really go for it in terms of aesthetics. You’re at the snow – you want something impactful and oozing style and personality,” says Rhys of the apartment that opens for business on June 8th.

Stylist secrets for warming up your home this winter

If there’s one thing that’s certain, layers of texture are essential when creating a cosy winter interior. From faux fur throws to velvet bed linen and heavy weight curtains, we caught up with the stylists at west elm and Pottery Barn Australia recently for their take on how to warm up your home this chilly season.

west elm Lush Velvet bedding

The living room
“Winter is about getting cosy on the couch and sleep-ins on rainy days. In the living room, adding cushions and throws with lots of texture creates warmth,” says west elm’s lead visual manager Rhys Duggan who loves using the brand’s Candlewick cushions and faux fur throws to achieve this look.

west elm Candlewick cushion range

Pottery Barn Australia’s lead visual manager Ebony Quaid uses plenty of texture in winter too. “I like to load up on textiles in the living room. Add extra throws on the sofa and extra blankets on the beds – not only does it add warmth, but the layering creates a sense of visual warmth. Perfect for snuggling on the couch, I always opt for our faux fur,” says Ebony.

And layering can also mean literally laying things on top of one another as Ebony likes to do with rugs in her home. “It provides extra warmth underfoot and looks cool if you get the right combination,” says Ebony who believes you should never underestimate the power of window coverings in creating warm spaces either. “You can lock in a lot of warmth by hanging long, heavy curtains to cosy up large open areas.”

Pottery Barn silk curtains

It’s not something that many people do on a regular basis but another way to warm up your home this winter is by shifting your furniture around to capture the season’s light. “My failsafe winter tip is – never be afraid of rearranging your furniture. You can shift key pieces away from draughty spots in the house to lap up the warm winter sun,” says Ebony.

The bedroom
When it comes to bedroom winter styling, changing the bedding is not only a practical necessity but it’s a good chance to change mix things up from an aesthetic perspective too.

“In the bedroom, layer like a stylist and use warm, soft fabrics like organic cotton and Belgian linen – both of which improve with age. Combine one of our lush velvet coverlets and blankets with your quilt cover to add extra layers of warmth and weight,” says Rhys who also recommends rugs made from natural fibres to inject warmth underfoot and lock heat into the home.

west elm's Lush Velvet range is a textural treat
west elm’s Lush Velvet range is a textural treat

From lamps to candles Rhys also suggests using lights to create mood this winter. “It is a visual trick but having a few sources of light in the bedroom can switch your mindset from cold to gold. A bedside lamp is standard, but add some candles and it creates a cosy, luxe feel. Just don’t forget to blow them out before sleep!”

@imakestagram’s baby nursery features tinsel and fun

I’ve been coveting Rachel Burke’s tinsel confections for a while now (she of @imakestagram Instagram fame). If you’re not familiar with the Brisbane based artist and designer, she is a self-described ‘tinsel maven’ who is known for her vibrant, tactile and flamboyant creations that have been acquired by the likes of Dannii Minogue and Kesha. So, when we heard Rachel had teamed up with Pottery Barn Kids x west elm to create a nursery for her new baby boy Hugo, we couldn’t wait to take a look.

Rachel Burke
Rachel in her son’s nursery before his birth

“I wanted to create a space that reflects our family’s style. I’ve kept some of my favourite pieces like the vintage wardrobe I customised – and mixed it back with the Pottery Barn Kids cot, bassinet and changing table – resulting in a calm yet contemporary nursery that will continue to grow as my baby does,” says Rachel, who gave birth last week.

Rachel Burke

Rachel Burke

The team were tasked with transitioning her studio into a nursery before working with the designer to select pieces that erred away from trends and can be easily transitioned for use as a toddler, tween and beyond. The rocker is one such item that can ultimately be moved to another part of the home.

A variety of neutral pieces work to showcase Rachel’s distinct aesthetic while creating a warm, inviting room. “I worked with a palette throughout that creates a sense of harmony but the space itself is fun and playful. I brought in details that amp up the fun, like the Skyler rug, the collected art pieces from friends, my pom poms – and of course the mini tinsel jacket ready for baby!”

Cobalt blue: the new millennial pink for interiors?

By Lexi Kentmann

Matisse. Picasso. Yves Klein. They all had it in common.

To Matisse it signified volume and distance. For Picasso it denoted a period in his life. And for Yves Klein – he is known for “inventing”  it – his deep blue hue. That rich state of ultramarine that’s synonymous with his work. He even trademarked “International Klein Blue” in 1957!

Add drama with this linear design – there’s plenty to play with; featuring indigo and cobalt – this is virtually an artwork for your floor

Bringing it closer to home – our own Brett Whiteley once said that “blue ultramarine blue hits my nervous system in such an exciting way – there’s no other colour – I mean you go to an art supply house and there’s 48 colours available and instinctively I go for this and just squirt it out…”

It’s the colour of a summer ocean, and an our expansive sky. The art world’s love of this inky, energetic cobalt blue is well-documented. And they’re not alone!

Sculptural and functional, the ethereal nature of the Totem candlesticks add height to a table or vignette with a subtler hit of colour

Psychologically blue is shown to lower the pulse rate, create a sense of calmness, stability – and it’s been known to boost productivity (it supports mental acuity, vitality and alertness).

So why do we love cobalt blue so much?

With its electric charge and ability to instantaneously uplift – the right hue of blue is bold as it is beautiful. People like blues more than any other colour – we’re naturally drawn to saturated colour.

Perfectly paired with terracotta, this cushion adds dimension, texture and colour – all in one pop!

A lightning bolt of blue can be just the hit of colour you need in your interiors. This colour chameleon (it’s wildly versatile) can quickly up the ante in your home and energise a space.

It pairs beautifully with natural warm tones – think timber and brick tones; it’s contemporary when worked back with white; and when paired with other vibrant colours – it has a lively effect.

If you’re looking to update your space, cobalt will do the trick.

Perfect with or without flowers, these pieces are just the hit of cobalt

The purest form of cobalt pigment was discovered in 1802 by Louis Jacques Thenard – in a French Sevres porcelain factory. Today we want you to get inspired and add an air of sophistication to your interior with some cobalt pieces. Now being touted as ‘hyper blue’ – it’s also being charged with replacing ‘millenial pink’.

The silhouette is already a firm-favourite, but in this new colourway the Carlo becomes a luxe addition and a confident way to add colour to your space.

Luxe, sophisticated – can do a whole room or just add a pop to lift your space. Cobalt is on the rise – so get in early and make your mark!

There’s still time to buy gifts to impress! We’ll help!

Sponsored by Williams Sonoma Australia

Not everyone smugly finished their Christmas shopping two weeks ago. Yes, I have those friends! The ones with the colour co-ordinated, tastefully understated wrapping… I always start off with the best intentions but life gets in the way. And this year, with newborn Charlie in tow, well, I had no chance did I?! Last weekend I could be found buying toys for Sebastian, pushing the pram (piled high because who has a spare hand for the basket?!) with one hand and jigging a crying baby in the other. I spent about five seconds choosing wrapping materials, grabbing whatever was closest and would fit in the aforementioned pram basket. Lucky Santa’s coming too, right?

So, because I know that there are other people out there with the best intentions, I’ve put together this handy guide of what to buy for all the usual suspects in your world. And the best news? You have until Friday to place your order for any of these and receive them by Christmas*! Plus, fill your one online basket from four stores: Pottery Barn, Pottery Barns Kids, west elm and Williams Sonoma! Don’t assume you’ve left it too late and you have to buy people those generic wine, chocolate and undies gifts and ruin your reputation for having great taste and being thoughtful. We won’t hear of it! Clearly, I will be following my own advice for my remaining gifts because that Saturday toy shopping trip? Ugh…

So, here we go, with presents picked by person. And while we have stated the RRP, almost all of these choices were on sale when we put together this list, so be quick and see if you can still grab the saving before the weekend!

That female friend with the excellent taste who has everything

Brass inlay marble tray, $59: I just don’t believe anyone wouldn’t love this elegant and useful gift! It also looks more expensive than it is in my opinion!

Martini side table, metallic, $199: There’s a reason this west elm classic is a bestseller. I truly believe you could find the perfect place for this in any home and I for one would kiss the person who bought me this for Christmas! Hint hint, Santa!

Colour pop crystal bookends (set of two), $69: These come in pink or blue and are so unique. They’re colourful but not too colourful, so they’d work in most homes, and who doesn’t love books? Weird people, that’s who!

Brass word object: cheers, $49: This gift is festive without being tacky, made of heavy solid brass, it’s a cute decor piece and a bit of fun.

The man in your life who’s too cool for socks and jocks

Oil spotted lacquer tray, $64: Masculine and stylish, this lightweight tray is the perfect size for coffee table, bedside or hallway console. We know plenty of girls who’d love it too!

Tristan bar cart, $534: Frankly, is there anyone who wouldn’t love to receive this stunning bar cart?! We can see a lot of men having this at the top of their bachelor pad wishlist!

Stainless steel mixing pitcher and strainer, $49: A simple, heavy, quality piece of barware for the modern man!

Kirkwood trunk side table, $664: Is it a side table? Is it a bedside? Is it just handy storage? Let them decide. Spoil someone with this unique, vintage looking furniture piece.

Your/their dad

Elliot armchair, $2299: Could this leather armchair BE anymore Dad-appropriate?! A real timeless investment piece. One to club together with the siblings for?

Saddle chocolate leather desk accessories, from $24: Keeping with the leather theme, these desk accessories are another classic, quality choice.

Sneaker cleaning kit, $39: This is a great little gift for a younger dad!

Moscow Mule mug, $34: If Dad’s going to have a cocktail it’s more likely in this copper mug than a martini glass, right?!

The new baby in the family

Gold star sherpa blanket, $69: Made of machine washable cotton and expertly stitched by hand, this pram blanket looks super special.

west elm x pbk metallic print muslin swaddle set, $59:  Trendy swaddles are totally a thing these days and we love this gorgeous set of three! A gift that’s sure to be well received by mum and dad!

Star Wars heirloom patchwork knit baby blanket, $89.50: If you’re friends with the baby’s dad, this is probably the blanket to buy! And if anyone makes licensed merchandise look classy, it’s Pottery Barn Kids!

Harry Potter snitch mobile, $79: Again, you’re buying for the parents really, but how cool is this mobile?! We love it!

Secret Santa under $20

Pineapple scented candle mini, $14: The gold makes it festive but this can sit pretty all year round. And despite what pineapple snobs keep saying, our love for this spiky fruit is going nowhere!

Mulling Spices, $18: I once got told off by Customs for trying to import this kind of thing from the UK. Ridiculous! Anyway, these are great to make mulled wine or cider and might be especially welcomed by those from cooler climates, i.e. Poms!

Cambria mug, $10: Handmade from glazed stoneware and coming in a choice of colours, this could soon become the recipient’s favourite mug!

Peppermint Bark Quick Bread Mix, $20: Suitable for even novice bakers, they’ll love whipping up this festive cake over the holidays with all the festive flavours of Williams Sonoma’s legendary sweet treat.

The kids whose mum doesn’t want anymore garish plastic with primary colours!

Aaron metal play table, $329: Seriously, could this kid size table be anymore stylish? And it’ll certainly not look out of place in the most stylish or minimalist home!

Anywhere Chair and cover, from $159: We are onto our second of these for Seb, having started with the smaller size and graduated to the bigger size. And you can bet the small one will be passed onto Charlie. I love that you can change the covers too if you get bored or change your home decor. They’re lightweight, easy to move around and kids LOVE them! You can choose a cover that’s understated like this or more kid-friendly with many patterns and colours available.

Chelsea all in one kitchen, $599: I mean seriously! Have you ever?! This is better than most of our real, grown up kitchens! Not the cheapest play kitchen out there clearly, but the quality is amazing and this will get years of use in your family.

Play gyms, from $149: A serial offender in the crimes against decor stakes, Pottery Barn Kids’ baby play gyms will not stick out like a sore thumb in your living room!

So, remember, order cutoff for Christmas is this Friday 21 December! What are you waiting for?

Step inside Beci Orpin’s west elm bedroom makeover

I’ve long been a fan of illustrator, maker and all-round creative juggernaut Beci Orpin so when the folks at west elm invited us to peruse her new bedroom, we jumped at the chance. Located in Melbourne, the room is shared by Beci, her partner Raph and their gorgeous grey cat Tio.

Beci Orpin bedroom

“The style I use in my work is bold, graphic, colourful and feminine without being too girly. I would say my home style is the same, although I like it to be slightly more understated when it comes to our bedroom,” says Beci of the room that had a very definite design brief. “I wanted pops of colour, lush textures – but still with a feeling of calm, and I wanted it to fit in with the things I already have in my space,” says Beci.

One of the more notable colour pops are the blue velvet curtains that formed part of the restyle. “I always wanted to see what our bedroom looked like with velvet curtains – now they’re up I love them so much. They suit the room perfectly,” says Beci.

The rug is another standout and its playful bohemian vibe and gorgeous 70’s colours perfectly complement Beci’s style. “The Charm rug is a joy! Also having a chair in our room feels very grown up indeed and I love the warmth of the rusty colour too,” says Beci of the gorgeous velvet clad occasional chair that provides a cosy bed for Tio too.

Pretty as a picture: The rug, lamp, side table and chair are all from west elm

This isn’t the first time that Beci has collaborated with west elm having worked on special events and invitations for the brand in the past. “Professionally, we’ve worked with Beci a number of times for west elm and it’s always a joy collaborating with her,” says Lexi Kentmann who handles pr and brand marketing for west elm.

“Beci’s approach is a real celebration of Australian style – it’s warm, relaxed, collected and witty. Working together on this project was a dream – the colour, the creativity and the mixture of the collected and curated, while still paying homage to Beci’s style – honoured her joie de vivre,” says Lexi.

Post makeover, Beci is very happy with the space. “I love it – actually way more than I thought. I wake up daily feeling like I have my life together, because my bedroom is so beautiful! The pieces I had in our bedroom previously were all things I had collected over time, and I love how the west elm pieces fit in with those, and almost elevated them so they are shown in a whole new light,” says Beci.

Rockabilly baby: A stylish mid-century twin nursery

Famed for her mid-century style and the successful Sydney restaurants that she runs with her husband Elvis Abrahanowicz, restauranteur Sarah Doyle welcomed twin girls recently and enlisted west elm to bring her vintage nursery dreams to life.

Sarah’s twins’ new nursery features the west elm x Pottery Barn Kids Mid-Century Convertible Cot Acorn, $199.00 – $699.00

“Sarah and Elvis are behind Sydney restaurants Porteno and Bodega, among others. They are both lovers of mid-century style and their home is a wonderful, eclectic mix of 50’s and 60’s vintage pieces. They also have a four-year-old daughter, Maybellene,” says the room’s designer Jodi Hall, designer and head of visual merchandising at west elm.

The recently launched west elm x Pottery Barn Kids collection proved the perfect fit for the room. “The collaboration is between us and our sister brand Pottery Barn Kids. The idea behind the collab was to draw on our iconic mid-century style and Pottery Barn Kids’ industry expertise. The result is a collection that perfectly suits Sarah and Elvis’ collective style,” says Jodi.

The family live in Sydney’s inner-west and the room was designed to complement the architecture of their home, celebrate the couple’s mid-century aesthetic and provide a tranquil haven for their new twins Claudette Jean and Esmeralda Alma.

“As they were expecting twins, they also wanted the nursery to be have a calm feel, and everything in it to be hardworking and adaptable. For instance, the Mid-Century Cots can be converted into toddler beds later and the Mid-Century Change Table is designed to be transformed into a regular dresser when the time comes,” says Jodi.

“I love how the warm acorn finish of the timber beautifully complements the home’s original features, and how our Souk Wool Rug provides the perfect base for all the furniture and accessories to shine,” says Jodi. And as for the parent’s reaction? “Sarah and Elvis were over the moon with the end result!”

Baby number two’s modern and unisex nursery reveal

Photography by Sam McAdam-Cooper

There’s a new room in our house which is calm, serene and incredibly tidy… because nobody uses it yet! I like to leave the door open and gaze smugly at its peaceful perfection, even if the rest of the house is increasingly becoming a bomb site as third trimester tiredness kicks in! It’s our future baby boy’s nursery and I’m thrilled to share it with you today.

Everyone jokes about how the first baby gets the best of everything and the subsequent kids are lucky to get a brand new anything! This second baby was always going to have a nice room though because I obviously love interiors, and baby rooms are so fun and special to create, and part of the getting ready process (although I’m still in denial!). But I have to say, I wasn’t in the crazy rush to have it all finished and perfect before the baby arrives because I know he’ll be in a bassinet in our room for the first few months.

Goodness knows when I’d have got round to actually doing this room because I’m even busier and tireder than I was last pregnancy, so when west elm and Pottery Barn Kids announced their first collaboration it was like a sign! west elm are one of my favourite furniture and homewares brands and Pottery Barn Kids are my go-to for kids’ decor (Seb’s last three rooms, in three homes, have been mostly PBK).

Will you look at that face?

This collab was a chance for me to step outside my uber classic nursery style. I loved the idea of a less obvious nursery look and even though I knew we are having a boy, I wanted to try something more unisex. I firmly believe baby rooms should be calm and serene places, for both baby and sleep-deprived, nursing Mum (and Dad, of course). The colour and the fun can come later when they’re older, and in our house, we’re lucky to have a separate playroom where basically anything goes!

I immediately fell for the Audrey collection with its luxe style, lacquer finishes, brass accents (anyone who has been to our place knows I have a lot of those!) and glam geometric textures. I also happen to have bought the navy Audrey bedsides from west elm recently for our master, so it was like it was meant to be!

The cot is an understated design but its textured end panels and brass legs give it that little something-something. A toddler bed conversion kit is available too if you want to use it later. The three-drawer change table offers smart function with its removable topper that fixes firmly to the back but can be removed as baby grows to be a toddler (or you perhaps decide you want to steal it for your own grown-up bedroom…).

With this statement dresser and cot, I didn’t want to have too much else going on in this room, but I knew I wanted wallpaper, and settled on Love Mae’s Sleeping in the Woods design from Queensland-based Milton & King. It adds that essential bit of whimsy every child’s room needs! Wallpaper is an investment, especially when you factor in hanging it (although this can be DIY-ed if you have the skills, time and confidence!), but a single wall is pretty affordable and makes a serious impact for the money. To give you an idea, this wall required less than two rolls and the labour cost $300.

Soft toy by Grandma

The Graham Glider chair (a matching ottoman is available too) is ridiculously comfortable and I love the Frankie side table (again, featuring brass) as somewhere to put bottles and all that other baby paraphernalia (let’s not kid ourselves, the plant will soon be moved elsewhere as I clutter it and run out of space!) so I love that it has a shelf underneath too. The Mongolian Lamb Stool (currently on sale) adds some texture and is so cute-looking and super soft.

The white picture shelf (from IKEA) was already there when this was mine and Damian’s bedroom, and it just worked to put it back above the cot so we could safely add some wall art (the frames can’t fall off because there’s a ledge at the front). The gold frames add to the sophisticated theme and we can change them up with family photos, big brother Sebastian’s “art” and prints as the mood takes us. The fluffy white rug feels gorgeous underfoot and adds to the relaxing feel. Anything to make those middle-of-the-night wake-ups more comfortable, right?!

I picked the key pieces for this room and shortlisted some wallpaper options, then happily handed over the reigns to the experts. Jodi Hall, Design Crew lead for the Williams Sonoma brands in Australia, came up with a moodboard which we tweaked together, and she brought it all together on the day of the shoot. I couldn’t have loved it more and it certainly feels more real now the room is sitting there finished and ready!

The brass mirror was a wedding present and before you ask, could not be more professionally or securely attached to the wall (safety first, always!). I wasn’t planning on keeping it in there but when everything else went into the room, it was perfect!

I am so happy with this room. I love how peaceful and uncluttered it is and I’m so happy I went with something a bit different for this baby as I’m not planning on having anymore (famous last words!). It’s so great to have it sitting there ready for 12 weeks’ time (give or take) and even though he won’t sleep in there for a while, we’ll still do plenty of changing, feeding and playing in the nursery.

So, what do you think? I’m happy to answer any questions you have in the comments.

If you’re struggling to pinpoint your nursery or kids’ room style, why not take advantage of Pottery Barn Kids’ free design service?

Disclosure: I was gifted some of the items from this shoot.
