Covet my coffee table: Adore Home magazine’s Loni Parker

Loni Parker is the founder of Adore Home magazine who recently published her very own coffee table book, Adore. We asked her to share what’s on her coffee table. Turns out Loni has a penchant for coral and anything gold!

coffeetable3DSC_1877

“My coffee table is actually an upholstered ottoman — it’s great because it’s soft enough to put your feet up, but sturdy enough to sit a tray of my favourite decorator items on. On my coffee table you’ll find a black mirrored tray from Freedom, a gold vase from Highgate House (peonies are my favourite flowers, but when they’re not in season I can’t go past roses or snapdragons) and gold urchins from my trip to the US last year (one was purchased in Palm Springs and the other in San Francisco so every time I look at them it takes me back to those places!).

coffeetableDSC_1896

“I also have Kelly Wearstler’s book Modern Glamour on there, and like to rotate it up every now and then including my own book, Adore. Coral is a must for me — it’s one of those things I’m addicted to buying — when I walk into a store that has coral I go weak at the knees and have to have it! I think it must be my kryptonite!”

Loni Parker

Loni also loves candles and has a pink Voluspa one sitting on her table. “I’m always buying new candles (another weakness of mine) so this usually gets changed up pretty regularly around here.”

Loni is raising funds to print a hard copy of Adore Home magazine via Pozible. Pre-order your copy here.

Alchemy candles fuse science with fashion

These days it’s not enough for candles to smell good, they have to look good too; and the latest collection from Alchemy Produx ticks both those boxes.

_DSC7126
Tried and tested by Jen (who loved them!), the Original Series is a range of artesian candles made from 100% soy wax. All individually hand poured into chemistry glassware such as beakers and conical flasks, they come in a broad range of sizes, from a 3-pack of mini 50ml candles to a 100ml super beaker. They also come in 10 citrus and botanical based scents including lychee and black tea, mandarin and rosemary and ginger ale (how good is that?!).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The brainchild of Melbourne duo Sara and Tristan, it was three years ago that they decided to join forces and combine their backgrounds in fashion design and chemistry. However, the unlikely duo have been a huge success, with these unique candles, that fuse science with fashion, being stocked around the country and online.

Prices for the Original Series range from $40-to-80. Shop online.

Covet my coffee table: with Tash Sefton from TheyAllHateUs

Today’s coffee table belongs to Tash Sefton, one half of the hugely succesful Sydney fashion blog, TheyAllHateUs.

Tash 4-1

“Our house is full of books, of mainly fashion and interiors, that I have collected from all my travels,” says the full-time blogger. “I love piling them up on hand to read. I currently have a pile at the base of my coffee table.

Tash Sefton coffee table

“I always have the latest magazines from overseas – my fave Vanity Fair, Vogue Paris and British Vogue. And I love having my personal items around me. Here are a few Chanel bags. They make me happy! I always have fresh flowers and candles from my friend Kirsten (Walker) who makes Palm Beach Collection.”

Tash was formerly a buyer and head of womenswear for a leading Australian fashion retailer. More often pictured looking effortlessly stylish in her signature ripped denim, she says the coffee table is the central part of her living room, often piled with toys when her sons use it as a play station! “We also use it as a dining table — we love sitting on the floor around it. Oh, and it’s my husband foot stool when he watches the TV!” We love a multi-functional piece!

Her tips for styling a coffee table? “Change it daily.”

Online shopping fix: Sourced & Shared

When Megan de Beer left South Africa for Australia, she was determined to bring part of her hometown with her. So with a love of design and six years’ experience as an art director behind her, she decided to create Sourced & Shared. The Sydney-based online boutique sells an eclectic mix of home decor, bags and jewellery, all made in Megan’s native South Africa.

sourced and shared“South Africa is a huge cultural hotspot,” explains Megan. “We have nine official languages and an unusual mix of people sharing the same space. So it’s not surprising that in this wonderful country I gave my heart to design. There are just so many gorgeous, unusual goodies to be found around every street corner.”

Designing a lot of the products herself, as well as showcasing products from other South African designers, Sourced & Shared features a curated collection of homewares for the kitchen, living and bedroom, and personally I can’t go past the cute cheese holder (above)! Aiming to support small businesses, Megan also has taken great care in picking her designers, making sure she sells homewares from a range of South African artisans and makers.

Sourced & Shared ships around the world with free Australian shipping for orders over $75, and free international shipping for orders over $150.

Olivia’s favourite candle, ever!

I get sent a lot of candles (I know, don’t hate me!) but what that does mean is I get to test out quite a few that aren’t too great. Today though, was not that day. Far from it. In fact, I think I ‘ve just found my favourite candle ever!

handmade1

The brand is TÄNDA and the scent is Lychee & Black Tea. It smells so good that as I write this I’m sticking my nose into the candle just so I can get to smell it again. I’ve gone a little obsessed.

A Melbourne based company, TÄNDA is all about providing handmade natural candles that are of excellent quality and sell at a reasonable price. Valuing the greener things in life, the collection of 11 scents is made in the most eco and animal-friendly way. They’re packaged in reusable glass tumblers and they are made from 100% pure eco soy wax with naturally grown sustainable wood wicks, allowing for increased burn times, with some of the range being able to burn effectively for up to 90 hours.

LandBT2

There’s a wide variety of scents, from the more masculine (Oak Moss & Amber), to the floral (Japanese Cherry Blossom), to the edible (Vanilla Hazelnut) and onto the more citrus smells (Chamomile Grapefruit and Green Tea & Lemongrass).

CGFlame

All scents are available in a selection of sizes and burn times, including soy melts, travel tins and luxury double and triple-wicked versions. Prices start at $20 for a small (30hour burn time) candle.

Olivia styles Typo’s new homewares brand, The Hall, at home

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t totally excited when the courier arrived with my goodies from Typo’s new homewares brand, The Hall. He came bearing an absolutely huge box, which involved a two-man effort to get through the door. But boy, was it worth it!

IMG_5220

Here at Interiors Addict, we were gifted a selection from The Hall’s yellow capsule collection, and encouraged to style it in our own home. With Jen overseas, this left the job to me (it’s a tough gig, but someone had to do it!).

The range featured everything from candlesticks to dining sets, and while I was a bit hesitant about getting so many homewares in yellow (I’ve been scarred by the colour ever since I was eight and decided to paint my room fluro yellow and green!) it wasn’t OTT. In fact, because they’re made from many different textures, prints and materials, it actually felt quite the opposite, with the pieces giving my home that eclectic feel that makes it seem like you’ve scoured the whole world for your homewares over many years, rather than just the one shop!

IMG_5312

IMG_5300

As a lover of all things Typo, for both their quirky designs and affordable prices, I am now hooked on The Hall for the exact same reasons, and with prices starting as low at $6.95, there’s really no reason not to add something new to your home.

The Hall’s first collection is available online and in selected Typo stores across Australia.

Everything’s now available in store and online. What do you think?

(Below) Clockwise from top left: Tahiti tile cushion ($24.95 or 2 for $40), cement plant pot ($14.95), mini standing cross ($4.95) and mini mason candle ($9.95).

The Elevator lamp ($39.95) would also make a great bedside bargain.

Who doesn’t love discovering a new Aussie candle brand in time for winter?

Our girl on the ground in VIC, Kat Bamford, discovered these Melbourne lovelies for us.

image_2

What is it about candles? To me, they are in that joyous category like fresh linen on the bed, the smell of coffee beans on a Monday morning and a glass of my favourite wine after a long day! I discovered these gorgeous new ISAH candles through one of my dearest friends when I noticed one in almost every room of her house.

There truly is a gorgeous mix of uplifting fragrances available. My favourites would have to be the pink peony and vanilla bean (I’m always a sucker when it comes to a good vanilla candle). When I spoke with the delightful creator behind the brand Amy Hauber, she admitted that her “favourite scent hands down is the Mango Papaya, as it has such a fresh summer smell and is perfect to freshen up your home”. Amy also assured me that ISAH candles are made from the highest quality soy wax and are meticulously hand poured in Melbourne so you can be guaranteed there’s no nasties in them!

image

Not only is there a varied range of scents, you can also get personalised options which are great for weddings, christenings or as a gift for those people who have everything!

isah_personalised

With their gorgeous new packaging they make the loveliest gift and are a steal at only $19.95. Personalised candles are only $24.95. Order online.

Online shopping fix: Seekers Keepers

Seekers Keepers’ aim is to bring customers pieces that are unique and beautiful, but have not already flooded the homewares market.

seekers keepers

Originally hailing from the UK, founder Sophie Wilson wanted her online store to replicate the small boutique high street shops she was so fond of.

“I wanted the Seekers Keepers line to reflect that independent uniqueness,” explains Sophie. “So the products are all sourced from independent Australian designers or from designers who are creating their products in Australia.” For Sophie, it’s all about picking beautiful, hand crafted, colourful items that will bring individuality into your space.

But Seekers Keepers is much more than just an online store, Sophie also offers a Sydney based face-to-face interior design service, which includes creating mood boards, technical perspective drawings, styling and sourcing soft and hard furnishings.

For more information and to shop online, visit Seekers Keepers here.
