Classic with a twist: Shaynna Blaze’s new tableware range

A couple of months ago we brought you the first collection of homewares by Shaynna Blaze for Harris Scarfe. Today we can bring you the next instalment… and it’s only got better!

Featuring a curated collection of tableware, from cutlery and stoneware to vases and cheese boards, the wares are functional works of art. Versatility is key with textures of oak, marble, fine china and glass, plus tones of brass, copper, whites, blues and greys.

“Chinaware, cutlery, glass and platters all play a significant role in the gathering spaces of the home,” says Shaynna. “Whether you’re using these pieces for a dinner party for 12 – or curling up to breakfast in bed for one – I wanted to create a range that works perfectly whatever the occasion.”

The philosophy behind the tableware is classic with a twist – pieces that work in either a casual or formal environment, and can dress your table up or down. “When styling a dining area, the table is at the heart of things,” explains Shaynna. “I see table tops as a moving piece of artwork.”

With an extensive range it’s hard to pick a favourite but for Shaynna it’s the white and copper cutlery: “It’s very different, so eating with them makes each bite an experience and elevates it from the routine!”

Shaynna Blaze for Harris Scarfe is available now in more than 50 Harris Scarfe stores across Australia, and will be avaliable online from today (Wednesday 25 October).

Get summer ready with our top picks from Country Road

Country Road has long been a personal favourite, ever since as a tiny tot, my mum would take me in for our weekly pilgrimage! Their Summer Home collection has just launched, with something for every room and every style. Here are my top picks:

Save money and have a tapas night at home! Country Road’s stoneware Tapas range is hand-glazed to give a beautiful, glossy finish. Featuring a modern design and clean profile, the range is a stylish addition to the table.

Functional (but would also look great just leant up against the wall) the Albi Trivet is crafted from timber and designed to protect your surfaces from heat. It is available in four colours.

Albi Trivet

I adore art and the Luna A1 Poster is super chic and affordable. Win! Hang with their Tube Hanger or in one of their A1 frames.

Oh so cozy, the Rikka Knit Throw is made from a soft cotton blend in a chunky knit weave. Perfect for refreshing you space. It comes in two gorgeous colours, arctic blue and mid grey.

I love a ladder as a place to hang towels, throws or garments. But the Nomi Storage Ladder goes a step further, having clever lock-in shelves which appear to float. Made from ash it comes in natural and black.

Spring/Summer 2015 collection offers more than Salt&Pepper

Where to begin? Salt&Pepper has once again produced a vast and varying collection – from watercolour to pastel, marble to metallic, Scandi to sophisticated, all tastebuds will be satisfied.

Cumulus_0257

One of my personal favourites is the indigo and pale blue of the Cumulus collection. Paired with some rose gold cutlery from the Host range and you have some majestic, yet effortlessly summery dinnerware.

blue and rose gold group shot

If you want to extend the gold theme outside the food scene, giant alarm clocks and metal-framed lamps are the way to go. They even have scented candles in rose gold containers!

Marble_0233

The Marble range also deserves a noteworthy mention, because who doesn’t love marble (although it isn’t real marble!)? Plus it will team perfectly with all that gold decor and cutlery.

Eclectic_0236

Other ranges include the Metro, which brings minimalist measuring spoons, mixing bowls and spice racks into the kitchen, and Loft, a mix of wood and bold graphics. There’s also Café, an understated way to enjoy your tea or coffee at home with matching block colour cups and jugs, and Pastel, which has a more high-tea-in-an-English-manor-feel to it.

Aura’s stoneware brings elegance to the kitchen

When Aura launched their first kitchenware collection — which featured a gorgeous array of patterned porcelain — earlier this year, it was just the first step.

aura kalimixedplates

Now, they’re back! And this time they’re presenting a sublimely tactile, high-fired stoneware range. There are plates, bowls, trays and cups in marshmallow, peppermint, pastel pink, graphite, coral and yellow, each piece beautifully crafted and glazed by skilled artisans.

aura 2

It is because of this expert hand-finish that each piece’s glaze remains unique. And by choosing only the most eco-friendly, highly durable materials, which are dishwasher and microwave safe, the Aura collection is the perfect answer for those seeking elegant, yet functional ceramic tableware.

Marc Newson for Noritake: available outside Qantas first class!

I am a big fan of colour, but sometimes you just can’t beat pure white, and the dinner set by Marc Newson for Noritake is one such example.

Originally designed for use in Qantas first class cabins, the collection of fine bone china pieces — from plates, bowls and platters to cups, saucers, mugs and teapots — is now available to all. Very contemporary, yet an instant classic in terms of its simple lines and low profile, each delicate piece is of commercial quality, exhibiting superior durability, chip-resistance and suitable for both the dishwasher and microwave oven.

Set a pretty table with Freedom

Freedom have done good with their latest range of tableware for Summer.

Sorrento_Seafoam_Range_Shot_CAS_tif_87099-processed

It really does make it more fun to set the table or have friends over when you have something a little more special than plain white plates (yes, like me, but I’m hoping to recitfy that thanks to my wedding registry, old school style). “White crockery will always have a place in the home, but our new collection of tabletop brings life to the dinner table. It bursts with colour and personality to make mealtime fun. With a nod to the 50s when bright colour shook up interiors, it’s playful , stylish and affordable,” said homewares buyer Vanessa Rothery.

Mix and match with new Noritake Colourwave dinnerware

I’ve looked at a lot of plates recently while trying to finalise our wedding registry! Do you go for something plain and simple that won’t date, or be brave with something a little more statement or fun? I still don’t know to be honest! I’m thinking grey. This new Noritake Colourwave range is a nice balance and you could mix and match or stick to one colour.

Colorwave Apple Green and Turquoise combo noritake

The Japanese brand have reinvented their traditional stoneware with the addition of turquoise and apple green (pictured), charcoal grey and raspberry. It’s all super robust, microwave, dishwasher and oven safe.

All-whites almost too pretty to eat off

But you really must eat off these Markey & Lockyer creations because it’s totally safe to do so and just look how good they look with cake on them!

Marley and Lockyer 3

You may have noticed a bit of a theme emerging on Interiors Addict recently, of handmade and upcycled products from small, independent businesses. I just love the idea of owning one-offs and things made with love and by hand. I won’t pretend I don’t own my fair share of mass manufactured “stuff” but I also love to pay a little extra for something I know is worth it. And there’s nothing like knowing the story behind something too.
