A rather divisive hue, purple is suddenly all the rage on the interior scene which is not surprising given Pantone named ‘Ultra Violet’ the colour of 2018. And while there are plenty of purple iterations doing the rounds (deep plum, royal purple, mauve and lavender to name a few), it’s lilac that we’re rather taken with.
Taubmans ‘Lavendula’ paint: Julia and Sasha used a gorgeous paint shade on the front door of their most recent renovation (pictured below). It’s a stunning pastel neon (an oxymoron I know!), it really pops agains the brass hardware.
Limoges Legle Parma teapot: Made in France since 1771, Limoges porcelain is in a league of its own – these teapots are not only handmade but they’re hand decorated with gold trim. $370.
Given Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and we have a serious predilection for anything pink, we thought it was nigh time for a rosy-hued round-up on the blog this week. Whether you’re searching for a gift for your partner, or you simply feel like treating yourself, even cupid would be spoilt for choice with this bunch.
Globewest: From ottomans to sofas and occasional chairs in the most beautiful powdery shades, this Aussie furniture brand has been nailing the pink trend of late: (Clockwise from left) Sketch Orphan one seat sofa, $1045, Gus Margot three seat sofa $3570, Bogart Carousel ottoman $1235, Evie linen cushion $115, Sketch Nelly sofa chair $1295.
The seemingly tireless Australian media personality and model Rebecca Judd has just added another string to her impressively long bow with the launch of her first nursery collection for Adairs. Given she is a mother to four children including newish twin boys Darcy and Tom, she was well placed to design the range.
Rebecca Judd with her twin boys Darcy and Tom
“The aim of the range was to create a nursery space that looks effortlessly chic, where everything fits perfectly into place. When designing the collection, I drew inspiration from Scandinavian interiors and designs,” says Rebecca.
An antidote to the often garish colour palettes found in children’s design, the limited edition collection features pastel blue, soft grey and peach. There’s fully reversible quilted bed linen designed with a sweet origami animal motif plus sheet sets and wall art too.
“What I really love about the new range is that you can easily find that perfect balance between serenity, style and personality. The colours aren’t overbearing with the inclusion of the lovely pastel pink and blue hues creating a relaxing neutral backdrop. This collection represents what I was looking for when styling my children’s nurseries,” says Rebecca.
Designed to complement the bed linen, the collection also features bamboo swaddle wraps. Bamboo, in particular, is a fabulous material for babies given it’s not only soft and 100 per cent natural but it’s breathable too.
Nursery walls won’t go unadorned either as the range also features two cute framed animal wall art pieces – a bear in Breton strips and a swan wearing a gold crown.
An easy source of inspiration, Morocco is a country of design riches – from the beautiful Moorish architecture to the intricate tiling and Yves Saint Laurent’s fabulous Marrakech abode (the cactus garden is beyond), there is just so much creative fodder to draw on. And with the tribal trend still going strong, it’s unsurprising that Adairs has turned to the North African country for its latest range.
Mercer + Reid ‘Medina’ bed linen
Featuring a kaleidoscope of bold pattern accented by earthy textures, tassels and Cacti (a subtle nod to Yves no doubt!), we’re particularly taken with the new range of bed linen.
Home Republic ‘Blush Cacti’ print
The Mercer + Reid ‘Medina’ bed linen collection features an abstract Moorish mosaic pattern in gorgeous shades of dark and light blue accented with on-trend terracotta. We love how the quilt cover is reversible – the flip side features a light blue water colour mosaic pattern.
The Home Republic ‘Marrakech’ bed linen caught our eye also – while the simple monochromatic colour palette is super fresh, it’s the mustard tassels that really take it to the next level. This quilt cover is also reversible – perfect for days when you want to redecorate without having to shop to do so.
Home Republic ‘Marrakech’ bed linen
Rounding out the new collection is an array of fabulous textured accessories including the Home Republic ‘Sahara’ baskets and the Mercer and Reid ‘Tangier’ pots – the baskets would make nice pots or fabulous storage options.

The Mercer + Reid canvasses are another highlight – featuring silver embellishments such as square silver studs and priced from $149.95, this range of affordable art really rounds out the exotic, bohemian vibe.
We’re also pretty fond of the Home Republic ‘Dakota’ tribal cushions – monochrome and versatile we think they’d work in just about any space.
Media personality and fashion/lifestyle blogger Rebecca Judd returns this month with a new collection for Adairs, just in time for summer. Launched under the retailer’s Home Republic brand, the range is a bright, sunny mix of bold prints, colour and some outdoor lovely pieces too. “I was definitely channeling summer vibes when I designed this range. Think bright sunny, happy colours and bold prints in linear styles. I was also inspired by my new favourite material of the moment – terrazzo,” says Rebecca.
The ‘Palm Cove’ quilt cover set
“Think summer holidays, sipping pina coladas, bright coloured bathing boxes and shimmering sunsets across the bay. Check out the ‘Palm Cove’ quilt cover from my range and it pretty much sums this up!” says Rebecca of the vibrant colour palette.
‘Cancun’ reversible outdoor cushions
While the Rebecca Judd Loves Home Republic ranges have been in production for a while now, this season sees the addition of a range of outdoor cushions and towels too. “I really wanted to create something perfect to style outdoor spaces with, but also pieces that would look just as good indoors. I love the new outdoor pieces and I designed them with my own outdoor area in mind. I feel my audience follow me because they like my personal style so if I design with my own home in mind it translates to them,” says Rebecca of the round velour towels and ‘Cancun’ cushions

“The outdoor cushions are made with a UV protected, outdoor material and are reversible meaning, just like my bedding range, you get two designs in the one piece. I’ve found it really hard to find nice outdoor cushions in the past so I made it my mission to create the perfect ones to suit any outdoor area as we had into the exciting outdoor summer entertaining period,” says Rebecca.
The ‘Mustique’ quilt cover set
The limited-edition range also includes four reversible bed linen designs, as well as a complementary range of soft furnishings. “My range has always been about affordable yet contemporary and fashion forward design and we achieve this by creating fully reversible quilt covers so our customers get two complementary yet different designs for the price of one,” says Rebecca.
The ‘Terrazzo’ cushions
“The bedlinen was designed around the outdoor range with the idea of bringing that outdoor holiday summer vibe into the bedroom. Style and quality to me is really important, especially in the interior and outdoor living spaces. This collection is heavily focused on quality fabrics and finishes,” says Rebecca.
For on-trend, quality homewares and furniture that won’t break the bank, you can’t go past Adairs at the moment. From lamps to pots, prints and even furniture, the linen store punching above its weight in the home decor sphere and it seems the people agree. Perhaps it’s the brand’s collaboration with media personality Rebecca Judd, but the interior set seem more devoted to the store than ever which is why we’re bringing you our top buys from the new spring collection.
Adairs Home Republic Copenhagen Chair: This oversized, statement chair is pushing all the right style buttons (we love it styled back with the wildly popular Rebecca Judd Loves chunky knit throw) and it looks mighty comfortable too. $999.95.
Adairs Home Republic Arizona Pear Cactus: This summer is set to be the season of the cactus making this faux variety very much on trend. It’s part of the store’s faux plant range and we’re particularly taken with the large one that measures more than a metre tall – a great, statement piece of foliage. $49.95.
Adairs Home Republic Villa Matalasse bed linen: You really can’t go past a textured, white quilt cover and we love the subtle, embossed pattern on this one. $229.95 (Queen)

Adairs Home Republic Lanna reversible quilt cover: With its all-over monstera print, this quilt isn’t for the faint-hearted, but we like it for its statement good looks. $199.95.
Adairs Mercer + Reid Earthenware light: With its 70’s ceramics feel this neutral lamp is perfect for a textural injection. $149.95.

When Adairs asked stylists Katy Thomas (The Eye Spy Milk Bar) and Aimee Tarulli (Archer Interiors) to create their dream bedrooms recently, both unexpectedly chose the same quilt cover! Aside from the amazing coincidence (the Adairs range is rather large!) what followed was an interesting styling experiment with the Adairs’ Vintage Washed Linen Quilt Cover in white check front and centre.
Stylist Aimee Tarulli with her dream bedroom
“When styling a bedroom, I start with artwork or bedlinen, so in this case the focus was the quilt cover. I then work in a colour palette to complement these pieces so either the artwork or bed is the hero. Everything else should be quite soft to achieve a really serene, relaxing feel in the room,” says Aimee, who styled up a minimal grey-on-grey theme for her dream bedroom.
“I wanted to create a minimal, high-end and sophisticated look. The bed linen worked in perfectly with my light colour palette and I used the Vintage Washed Linen Coverlet in indigo as an additional layer to achieve the contrast needed to make the room feel homely. The Copenhagen chair, just peeking into the side of the shot, warmed up the look with its oak arms too.”
Stylist Katy Thomas with her dream bedroom
Katy’s room was the moodier of the two and we love its splash of pink. “Focusing on one key item is a good starting point when designing any room. For my room it was the divine Copenhagen chair. I felt it had to be a feature and so I worked the rest of the collection around it. I also wanted to show how a beautiful arm chair can work so well in a bedroom space, and not just in the living room,” says Katy.
As for cushions and throws, the stylists both agree that they are essential in creating an inviting bedroom space. “I think a bed can look a bit naked without a throw or fur, so regardless of the season I always make a really big and luscious bed with lots of layers, throws and cushions. In summer, I favour lighter colours and in winter I move into a moodier colour palette but I will always layer it up with a good chunky throw or fur,” says Aimee.
“I love a good mix of cushions in a range of textures and sizes. It’s a great way to add some personality to a space. I’ve kept it simple, using a mix of white, soft greys, navy and pinks. I’m also a huge fan of not having everything balanced and love to turn a cushion on its side. European cushions don’t have to match,” says Katy.
Our continued obsession with black, white and gold shows no signs of abating but this season we have a new hue vying for our attention – mint. A lovely alternative to grey, mint is an easy neutral that has a little more pep in its step.
Aura Double Dip tablecloth: A perfect example of the trend, we love the oversized stripe. Pair it with the coordinating linen for more formal entertaining. $79.
Wedgwood Arris octagonal plate in charcoal: The real 22-carat gold trim and the nod to Art Deco design make this plate feel like pure glamour. One for special occasions. $57.95.
Jones & Co Palm Leaf wide mouth vase: Inspired by classic palm-print wallpapers, this weighty number looks fabulous in the middle of the dining table, bursting with blooms. $79.
It’s almost too good to be true, but it’s not. What if I were to tell you that you could shop online at major retailers where you’d usually make purchases anyway and in doing so, without it costing you a cent, a donation is made to life-changing breast cancer research? You can. And it gets better. You’ll also benefit from special deals and cashback on your purchases. Amazing!
This week, I’ve been checking out pink.org.au for myself and not only have I had my usual retail therapy fix, I’ve been raising money for a charity close to my heart (my aunt has breast cancer a few years ago and is happily now in the clear after treatment), the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF). Talk about a win-win situation!
First, I hit up Marks & Spencer (12% cashback), the iconic department store in my motherland, England, that ships to Australia. It’s one of my favourite places to buy baby clothes for Sebastian and they have a most excellent range of dungarees (or overalls as you call them here!).
Cute Marks & Spencer outfit for Sebastian
Still thinking like a mum (what happened to buying clothes for myself online?!) I headed to Appliances Online (up to 1.6% cashback), where I often shop too, and bought a food processor, because we are fast approaching the time for introducing solid food (can’t wait for that mess…).
Don’t worry though, this interiors addict wanted to know what was on offer in the home category and I wasn’t disappointed. I bought a nice white waffle quilt cover for our spare bed (a classic!) from Adairs (7.2% cashback). Incidentally, they also have their own NCBF range, so if you buy that via pink.org.au, you’re helping the charity not once but twice!

Then I spent far too long browsing the amazing range at Amara (up to 8% cashback), another UK-based site who ship here (free shipping on orders over $200 too), and sell luxury homewares. I didn’t previously know they shipped internationally so that was a great discovery. My haul included salt and pepper shakers, a gold stapler for my home office desk and an odds and ends trinket dish, all by Kate Spade New York. Divine! I also couldn’t resist a stunning Bluebellgray Eric cushion.

Before my purchases even arrived, I started getting emails about my cashback, letting me know how much had been credited to my Pink account. It really is brilliant! And all the more incentive to head back to the site to shop again and help raise more money.
It’s not just shopping you can do on pink.org.au though, you can also order takeout. We always use Menulog anyway, so from now on we’ll be using Menulog via Pink (2.4% cashback), knowing a bit of cash is going to charity too. Why wouldn’t you, frankly? Some of the other online stores we often frequent which we’ll now be browsing via pink.org.au are The Iconic, Bonds, Asos and Virgin Australia.
It’s very simple to use pink.org.au. Once you sign up, you simply access the various stores via the Pink site and complete the transaction as normal.
It doesn’t cost you anything and it’s quick and easy to sign up. Join for free now!

I’m a really busy girl, as you can probably guess if you follow my antics on this blog. But I also preach the importance of taking time out (and sometimes you have to really work at making this happen) to relax, switch off from technology and just breathe.
My bed
My absolute favourite place to do this is the bath, but I don’t trust myself with my prized interiors coffee table books in there. Steam, clumsiness, you know… So when I need a little time out I like to retreat to my bedroom with a nice cup of tea, a stack of books and homes mags and lose myself in them for an hour or so. It makes such a difference!
