Last month we reported on the exciting collaboration that saw online marketplace, Etsy.com, takeover the junior penthouse in Melbourne’s The Cullen hotel. And now we have our hands on the gorgeous pictures!
Styled and photographed by creative team Marsha Golemac and Brooke Holm, who hand picked products from Etsy’s Australian community to transform the penthouse, botanical designers Loose Leaf finished off the space by styling the suite’s accompanying leafy courtyard.
“Etsy at The Cullen is a unique collaboration,” explains Marsha. “We see that bringing together local design, art and luxury as a rare combination that makes for an exciting and challenging opportunity. We’ve sourced products from Etsy designers and artists across Australia to create a ‘home away from home’ hotel setting. We wanted to enhance what is essentially a studio apartment style space with exceptional designs from Etsy, to create an environment that is considered, tasteful and bursting with character.”
Products from almost 40 Etsy sellers from around Australia were selected for the project ranging from furniture and artworks to bed linen and ceramics. The transformation showcases Etsy’s offering of unique products for use in everyday living. It also demonstrates how even the smallest living spaces can be elevated using an affordable selection of items thoughtfully designed and made by Etsy’s online community of makers and curators.

Offering a range of beautiful, locally designed, 100% cotton knitted blankets — from baby right through to x-large — texture is obtained through the addition of two divine plain knitted blankets, with stunning dipped, rolled edges.

Next comes their truly unique capsule collection designed in collaboration with Melbourne creative Marsha Golemac. The limited edition Marsha Golemac for Kate & Kate collection reflects her instinctive approach to design, and an aesthetic that has become immediately recognisable for its consistent reference to line, shape and colour. Each piece comes with a signed and numbered swing tag.
Winter ’15 will also see the introduction of Kate & Kate’s debut collection of towels and hand towels. Double-sided (terry/velour) and 100% cotton, they’re are incredibly soft and absorbent. As always, they’ve kept their sizes generous; measuring 100 x 150cm they are perfect for both the bathroom and the beach.
Finally, Kate & Kate are also releasing a gorgeous range of versatile 100% linen, screen-printed throws. At 140 x 190cm, these can be used as a lightweight blankets, beach throws, tablecloths and picnic rugs.

Paper artist and creative designer Marsha Golemac will join Melbourne’s Life Instyle this year as the host of Style Lab.
Style Lab is an interactive display, which using the latest trends and design-led products, sees its host create a series of changing scenes made live each morning of the event. With an eye for straight lines, striking colours, simplicity and shape, Marsha is a prime choice, having created installations for the likes of Gorman, Incu, Megan Park, Kate & Kate and Uuashmama.
A stationary and homewares product developer by trade, Marsha spent many years working at kikki.K before going freelance. She now teaches paper artistry at Megan Morton’s The School and works in all design realms from interior styling to photography.
