Flat pack shelves by Henry Wilson for under $200. Seriously!

Customisable, stylish and arriving as a flat pack (but with no tools required for set up!), the Chevron Shelves created exclusively for Nomi by renowned designer Henry Wilson are an exciting addition to their range.

Henry Wilson

Drawing its name from the interlocking zig-zag pattern first seen in ancient Greece, the chevron pattern informs the beautiful simplicity of the shelves — both in the way in which they are put together and the shape they create when they are stacked. “I love the simplicity and elegance of the design,” explains Henry. “You can add more shelves to the system as your collection grows and simply stack them up. If you’re moving house, you don’t have to empty them all, you can just carry them like a box.”

Consisting of four pieces of precision milled Birch-ply, known for its superior strength and refined pale grain, the shelves come flat packed and can be assembled easily and intuitively with no tools. Just what we like to hear!

A first for Henry, who normally makes high-end designer pieces, he is excited to be branching out into the world of affordable flat pack. “Other products of mine are usually made from premium materials with high levels of handwork which means they sit at a higher price point. The Chevron Shelves are optimised for mass production which means they can be retailed at this reasonable price point which is great for the consumer who loves design but has a budget to stick to.”

Customisable in both size and colour, with a stunning array of subtler pastel shades including ethereal green, teal, olive and rose, Henry designed the shelves to be either used as a single unit for magazines, books and files, or stacked in several configurations to emphasise their unique design.

With a unit starting from as little as $150, the Chevron Shelves sing true to Nomi’s aim of making designer furniture accessible to all.

Chevron’s going nowhere in AURA’s latest colourful collection

There’s a reason that trends stick around and that’s because they just work. Chevron is one of these. People keep asking me isn’t chevron “over” yet and no, it isn’t, because everyone loves it! AURA obviously agree, because there’s plenty of that old zigzag favourite in their latest colourful collection for summer, released this week.

If you love colour, this one’s for you. I particularly like the mix of neutral natural fibres like linen and cotton with the bright patterns and accents. Choose a lot of colour or the odd pop, depending on your taste. Choose from crochet, oversized chevron, spots, dipped and plain styles.

Greg Natale wallpaper launch at Porter’s

I’m sick so I was really disappointed to have missed the launch of my friend Greg Natale’s wallpaper launch at Porter’s Paints this morning!

Greg Natale Porters Paints chevron exterior

The Porter’s showroom in Waterloo was turned chevron for the occasion! How fabulous!

The bold striped collection made for a great display. My favourite is the chevron in gold (Palazzo).

Country Road’s new winter homewares

Take a look at this sneak peek of Country Road’s new winter homewares, due in store next week.

The brights of last season have been replaced with an altogether more muted colour pallette that sees pops of soft pastels and a touch of yellow, grounded with plenty of black, grey and white. I love it.

Country Road’s collections are always so fresh and on-trend without being too on-trend (there’s definitely a Country Road look).

First look: Greg Natale’s striped wallpaper for Porter’s Paints

I love a sneak peek and here’s an exclusive first glimpse at Sydney interior designer Greg Natale’s striped wallpaper designs for Porter’s Paints.

Greg looking at chevron prototypes

Greg says: “The collection will feature a horizontal, diagonal, 1cm and chevron stripe. I wanted to create a collection of stripes that I couldn’t find in the market. The collection will be available in over 20 different yummy Porter’s Paints colours.” (That includes gold, how exciting!)

Brighten up your home with Country Road’s new Spring collection

Spring is in the air. Ok, it’s still decidedly chilly but work with me here. Wishful thinking! The latest Country Road homewares have just hit stores and they’re zesty and beautiful.

Isn’t this yellow chevron throw ($199) to die for? I’d love to see it used with the grey cushions (from $39.95 each) above. Grey is going nowhere. If there is such thing as a new black, it’s grey! If you love yellow too, check out the yellow and white broad striped Stevie bed linen while you’re in store.

Sunday Snippets: The best of the week in interiors

  •  I am a big fan of stylist Jane Frosh and this week I featured her Blue Mountains home, which is up for sale. It was recently on the cover of Country Style and it is AMAZING. Check it out.

It’s been a fantastic week for PR, with a double-pager in Ivy & Piper magazine and a feature in The West Australian’s Habitat section. I’m always really grateful for and excited by press coverage. I love getting the Interiors Addict message out far and wide so I was particularly please to be in a WA newspaper.

This coming week my apartment is being photographed for Northside magazine’s ‘At home with’ feature. I’m a little nervous, I must admit!

I’m looking forward to speaking at decoration + design in Melbourne on Friday. I’ll be there on Thursday too. If you’re exhibiting or coming to my talk with Darren Palmer, please let me know and I’ll try and make time to say hi! I’m making a weekend of it and can’t wait to stay at The Blackman, one of the art series hotels. The interiors look stunning and I can’t wait to check it out.

In totally unrelated news, this week I took the diamond my fiancé proposed with to the jeweller to be made into my engagement ring. VERY exciting and still floating on a post-engagement cloud…

I’m off to watch Downton Abbey. Have a fantastic week ahead and I hope to meet lots of you at decoration + design!

Etsy Tuesday: Chevron Homewares

You may have heard me mention a few times that I love chevron. And yes, I am a little concerned how prevalent this trend is becoming but I still love it, so whatever! It’s so simple and effective, like all the best things!

So this week, I decided to go on the hunt for cool chevron stuff for the home and there was loads of it! Seems it’s not just Australia loving the old zig-zags…

Above: chevron vinyl wall decal, $38.38.

They’re not cheap but they are more than a little bit special. You probably know by now I get

They’re not cheap but they are more than a little bit special. You probably know by now I get a little bit overexcited about cushions. I’m currently banned from buying anymore by the boyfriend but I managed to sneak two new sale purchases in at the weekend, so…

Anyway, I digress! These are brand new at Gallop Lifestyle, by Sydney designer Xavier & Me and priced at $105 each without inners. High quality linen and cotton canvas, digitally printed. LOVE THEM. They are reversible with contrasting piping and so modern and sunny and perfect for brightening up your couch (or outdoor area) for summer! Available in cocoa/lemon, pomegranate/apple and apple/cocoa colourways.
