Quick drying luxury from Sheridan’s latest hi-tech towel

Sponsored by Sheridan

If ever a country’s lifestyle demanded a quick-dry towel, it was Australia’s, and premium home and lifestyle brand Sheridan have come to the rescue!

There’ll be no more damp and soggy thanks to its brand new Quick Dry Luxury Towel, featuring exclusive Nanospun technology. What’s that when it’s at home? It’s the latest innovation in towel craftmanship, developed following an extensive period of development and testing. And don’t worry, it doesn’t mean sacrificing a quality look and feel for something wafer thin either.

I think I’d better buy some because my husband is always telling me off for not hanging towels up properly so they don’t dry. I know, role reversal or what?!

This new technology spins extremely fine cotton yarns, allowing for a higher density weave with an incredibly lightweight feel. The result is a highly absorbent and exceptionally quick drying, lightweight towel with a luxuriously soft and plush feel, crafted for long lasting luxury.

“As the global market leader for towel innovation, we are proud to reveal our Quick Dry Luxury Towel Collection, incorporating the latest in technology and innovation. Saving time and energy, this towel is perfect for an active Australian lifestyle, and ideal for the whole family,” says Paul Gould, group general manager, Sheridan.

The collection is available in eight hues: Indigo, Graphite, Barley, Alpine, Silver, Orchid, White and Slate, and features a face washer, hand towel, queen towel, king towel and bath mat (that’s one bathroom item that could really benefit from drying quicker), ranging in price from $17.95-to-$84.95.

What’s more, the Quick Dry Luxury Towel is available for Sheridan’s Personalisation Service. Embroider names, nicknames or initials for just $15 in addition to product price. I love me a monogram!

After introducing a first gorgeous range of bath towels last season, Aura have decided to expand their collection, launching three new designs across three harmonising colourways.

The Winter 2015 collection sees Aura’s trademark Scandinavian-inspired patterning remain, alongside last season’s premier colours: charcoal and neon lime. New additions include fiery coral, alongside the more soft-hued tones of dove grey and mint.

It’s the way the new designs work together, however, that really set them apart. From the textured Check to the larger-than-life Kolmio and the classic Lattice, each towel is purposely designed to coordinate with the anothers.

Bathroom styling ideas with accessories

By Daniela Santilli

A well-designed and accessorised bathroom is key to creating a space full of character. With the bathroom continuing to form part of the wider living zone where bathrooms, bedrooms and dressing rooms become one continuous space, we are noticing a trend toward accessorising in the bathroom as an effective tool for performing a mini facelift and adding life into a once purely functional area of the home.

As spaces in the home become more integrated, so too does the functional and decorative role of furniture, accessories and decorative lighting. Traditional complementary furniture such as mirrors, tall boys and floating cabinetry continue to be important in personalising and creating style in the bathroom space, but we’re also seeing more furniture like stools, chairs and shelves appearing. Creating bathroom products that are both functional and decorative has been a focus for designers, as seen in the stunning Kartell by Laufen collection designed by Ludovica+Roberto Palomba. This is a great example of this integrated approach, with the polycarbonate mirrors, racks, cabinets and stools as appropriate in the bathroom as they would be elsewhere in the home.

Also providing innovative space-saving solutions are multi-purpose accessories, like the Milli Edge freestanding toilet column which elegantly stores a toilet roll and brush holder. Similarly, the Laufen Pro A wash basin with stand not only looks striking but is a clever way to store towels.

[contextly_sidebar id=”efpEWHGTw2yBt3zMTGyQmpFBbfL50DNK”]In our recent survey, we were surprised to see mirrors emerging as the fourth most important item in the bathroom. This is a strong indication that customers are using decorative accessories to evolve and add character to their bathroom look. Many ranges are also designed to complement each other, creating families of products to ensure customers are offered a coordinated look, rather than having to search for individual accessories to create a unified style, For example, the Milli and Mizu ranges not only include beautifully designed tapware, they also include a range of matching accessories like soap dishes, toothbrush holders, towel rails, toilet brush holders and soap dispensers.

For an even simpler update, adding small touches can be an effective way to enhance the look and feel of a bathroom. Good quality towels are a worthwhile investment and lend an air of luxury, while scented candles and flowers will make a space feel inviting and reinvigorated. Add a luxurious handwash to the mix to tie the space together and give it a finished look.

Jac + Jack and Dinosaur Designs’ stunning towels

Two of my favourite brands, Jac + Jack and Dinosaur Designs, have collaborated once again, creating a limited series of brightly coloured, hand loomed and hand dyed, organic cotton beach towels and for the first time, hand towels. Jen is always moaning about the lack of variety of great hand towels for the bathroom so these should make her happy too!

Dinosaur Designs & Jac+ Jack interiors addict 1

Hand loomed by artisan weavers on ancient looms in small villages in West Bengal, the towels are then sent for dying to seventh generation Bandhani craftsmen in Kachchh.

Dinosaur Designs & Jac+ Jack interiors addict

Bandhani is a tie dying technique produced by hand (and foot!) where materials are tightly bound with hessian string, covered and then dip dyed in stages to produce the design. The dying process leaves subtle variations adding to the beauty of each piece, with the designs having a depth that cannot be achieved by standard manufacturing. The beautiful towels are also practical, being lightweight (when wet or dry), making them easy to carry and quick to dry.

The production of these unique towels is supporting industries under threat of extinction from merchandised looms and commercial dye houses. The beach towels are available for $220 in three designs and the hand towels are available from $100 in four designs. They can be bought at Dinosaur Designs’ stores in Australia, New York and London and online at both Dinosaur Designs and Jac + Jack.

Win a $200 voucher to celebrate AURA’s new towel range

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an AURA by Tracie Ellis collection I didn’t LOVE and the latest offerings are no exception. What’s really exciting though, is that the brand has branched into towels, meaning the gorgeous looks that were previously reserved for your bedroom can now brighten up the often neglected bathroom too.

bathtowels

This is not the first time I’ve highlighted the very small range of fashionable towels on the Australian market so these are a very welcome addition. If you like what you see, you could win a $200 voucher to snap some up yourself. More on that later…

bathtowelscharcoallime

The latest AURA releases, including bed linen, cushions and table linen, are definitely nodding towards summer with their bright and happy hues. Those pictured are already available so if you’re fed up of the winter weather, no need to wait until the sunshine comes back to get things looking a little more summery in your home.

I’m a big believer in accessorising your bathroom to make it a more inviting and personalised space. You obviously don’t want to fill it with dust-attracting clutter, but towels are a necessity, right? So if they can double as decoration, you’re winning. And any excuse for an update!

latticequiltcoverneoncoral

For your chance to win the $200 AURA voucher, simply complete the form below by midnight on Tuesday 5 August 2014. Giveaway open to Australian residents only. Voucher can be spent on anything in stock on the AURA website.

Top tip: you can get 10% off your first order if you sign up for the AURA newsletter.

Ziporah towels: art for your bathroom

For a very long time there’s only been one clear choice for colourful and patterned bathroom towels and that’s Missoni! Now the 3 girls behind Ziporah are trying to change all that with a new Aussie brand.

Ziporah12-757x1024

We decided we would create towels together after recognising a gap in the market for colour, luxury and affordability. After frustrating shopping trips, visits to a trade fair here and there, industry research and loads of questions, things just naturally brought us together,” said their designer, Antoinette Murray.

ZiporahCollection

We decided Ziporah would create unique, artisan designed towels to “make over” a bathroom space, like a beautiful rug can do for a living room or cushions can do for a neutral sofa. We also agreed we would not compromise on quality.”
