You’ll want to stay in bed with the new Linen House collection

Not that I need much persuasion to stay in, being a total homebody, but Linen House’s Winter 2017 collection sure does make it seem like a good idea! As ever, they’ve included an impressive number of completely different styles and trends in one collection.

Although it’s hard to imagine wanting to snuggle up and get cosy if you’re in the Sydney heat this week, we’re loving these tribal textures and patterns, rich in thick embroidery, natural rustic weaving, quilting, printing, faux furs, velvets and knits, detailed with pom-poms and tassels.

Black and white and accents of rust emerge throughout the entire collection. Complementing the bohemian theme are their new decorative baskets (and we all know you can never have too many of them!) made in Rwanda.

The evolution of chenille continues with Sanura – a white-on-white lattice pattern, exquisite when paired with black and white cushions and throws.  I seriously love this one!

Despite all this, the brand, a family-owned business based in Melbourne, say minimalism is also still a focus, with the simple design of Hemsworth, a grey marle cotton jersey, comfortable like your favourite lived-in t-shirt.

Other styles this season include the signature pure linen range, printed digital textures, floral, art-inspired abstracts and quilted geometrics, all in contemporary, neutral colours.

The Linen House Winter 2017 Collection is available at leading retailers and department stores nationally and online from next month. For stockist details or call 1300 350 886.

Collette Dinnigan debuts travel-inspired bedding collection

Collette Dinnigan, Australian fashion (and more recently interior) designer, has teamed up with Linen House to produce her first linen collection. Inspired by her extensive recent travels throughout Europe, the designs reflect her passion for antique textiles and French fabrics. It features azure blue accents across finely embroidered white quilt covers, matching sheet sets and plush bath towels.

Amalfi Blue
Amalfi Blue

Using only quality cotton, Collette has created a design that is both feminine and crisp, with a hint of bohemian style. The 300-thread count cotton percale is made from long staple fine yarns, giving the fabric a cool, crisp handle.

Sorento Blue
Sorento Blue

Riviera features embroidered corners with a pretty blue floral vine entwining white hemstitch detail. Amalfi flourishes with old-world European folk style embroidery, with matching European pillowcases imparting a Mediterranean ambience. Last but not least, Sorrento is simplicity at its best. Available in two colours, white on white or white with blue hemstitched tailored edges.

Collette Dinnigan for Linen House Autumn Winter 2017 Collection will be available at the end of this month (January), online or at leading retailers.

The brand’s home and lifestyle offering at Myer will span bed, bath and living and is available online and at select stores across the country.

johnlewis_7372923282436

Recognised as a leading homewares destination in the UK, John Lewis is known for its style, quality and accessibility and in addition to the brand’s 32 full range department stores, they also have 12 standalone, dedicated homewares stores across the UK too.

johnlewis_73721844560027

The first bricks and mortar John Lewis homewares destination in Australia coincided with the recent opening of the new Myer Warringah store in Sydney and a further five will open in early 2017 with Melbourne city, Sydney city, Chadstone, Bondi and Perth city on the list so far.

In another first for the brand, and in great news for linen lovers, John Lewis will manufacture and sell Australian standard sized bedding too. Currently, Australians can purchase UK standard bedding and have it shipped to Australia, but the UK sizing doesn’t fit Australian beds.

Myer’s John Lewis bedding offering will include bed linen, doonas, throws, cushions, quilts and bed accessories. Earthy luxe: Discover I Love Linen’s new summer collection

Inspired by a recent trip to India, I Love Linen’s summer collection has a luxe yet earthy vibe perfect for lovers of texture or eclectic, tribal-inspired interiors. “This collection is inspired so much by my recent holiday to India. I spent a portion of my time in Jaipur, and the city in general is the most magical colourful place to be. I was so fortunate to meet some artisans who specialise in hand stitched and hand dyed fabrics so the spring summer range is a focus on using their skills to share some beautiful lighter-weight handmade quilts,” says founder Lauren Roe.

botanical-mint-i-love-linen-ss-16-close-up

Her favourite print from the new collection is the monstera leaf design. “The cushions and pillowcases create such a summery botanical vibe in the home. We designed them in a bold mint and a simpler charcoal which also pops quite nicely against the duvet cover,” says Lauren.

mustard-storm-i-love-linen-ss-16-close-up

There is also a new range of hand stitched and dyed coverlets, all made with traditional techniques. “Each piece is beautiful and unique. As each piece takes so long to make there is a very limited number of pieces to sell,” says Lauren, who has also expanded her pure linen range with a variety of new cushions including duck down filled, French linen floor cushions and screenprinted options.

jade-pom-pom-i-love-linen-ss-16

In great news for fans of the brand’s famous pom quilts – they’re back but with a slight design tweak. “We are huge fans of anything with a tassel or pom pom here! We had been playing around with a new design the end of last year and wanted to sort of replicate a Moroccan blanket but use softer cotton. Once we knew we had found the right maker it was such a fun process and these designs are so cute!” says Lauren.

Stop press! Greg Natale Home launches in Myer

With bed linen, bath towels, cushions and throws, the Greg Natale Home range hit Myer Melbourne and Sydney stores recently and it’s a rather sumptuous affair replete with Greg’s signature geometrics and some interesting organic patterns too. We caught up with the designer to get the skinny on the collection.

gn_bedding-27

“I did a cushion range last year and the next logical phase was to create bed linen. I’ve got a real passion for bed linen and I’ve always wanted to create a range,” says Greg who thinks the bed is often neglected in the interior styling game. “For me, when I create an interior it’s really about developing a very cohesive, finished look and the bed always finishes off a room. A lot of designers neglect the bed but I’ve always paid special attention to it as the bed really is the final layer.” Until now, he’s always relied on custom made linen to fill the gap.

hl1022_gn_pillows-2
While the inspiration for the range has its roots in the Greg Natale brand DNA (think strong, repeated geometric pattern), the collection features organic motifs too. “Obviously my geometrics feature but they’re broken up with organic pattern including malachite and the dot prints,” says Greg who cites the malachite print as his favourite from the new range. “I love the Malachite collection because the organic shapes are different for me. I also love the towels as I think my Astoria pattern translated well into towels.”

gregnatale_home_towels_astoria
Astoria towels

Ultimately, Greg sees cushions and bed linen as an easy way to layer colour, pattern and contrast in a room. “You can replace them or rearrange them without any fuss whenever you want a new look and it’s a real thrill to be able to finally share these collections. It’s been a long time coming and I can’t wait to see how everyone styles them in their own home,” says Greg.

Greg Natale Home will be further released through Myer’s remaining five flagship stores in February 2017.

Kate & Kate’s summer 16/17 range inspired by Byron Bay

Designed in Byron Bay, Kate & Kate’s summer 16/17 collection brings more of the design hallmarks that have made the brand famous – think natural fibres, geometrics, understatement and deft use of colour.

katekate_campaign_blankets_cape_grey_1
“Eastern Point was inspired by the landscape and culture of Australia’s most transportive coastal retreats. Kate and I designed the bulk of the collection in stunning Byron Bay and I think the designs definitely reflect this. A study of contrasts, the collection features free-form shapes alongside stark geometric design, luxurious natural fibres, and for the first time, stunning natural linen and hand-woven cotton,” says Kate Pascoe Squires, one half of the Melbourne-based brand.

katekate_campaign_linen_tea_towel_napkin_6
Versatile linen throw

Something of a cult item for Kate & Kate, their linen throws are back this season too and they are still as versatile as ever. From a lightweight blanket for the couch or bed, to a wall hanging, beach throw, table cloth or picnic rug there’s nothing better than a multi-tasking homewares item. Designed to fade, they’ll look even better with time.

katekate_campaign_linen_tea_towel_napkin_1
Gorgeous linen tea towels – we’d be inclined to frame a pair of them as an affordable art alternative.

“We’ve moved towards natural linen for summer, unbleached and beautifully soft. The designs are so fun, super graphic with bursts of pink, navy, green and copper. Linen throws as wall hangings, tea towels that feel like art and beautifully detailed napkins. It’s summer, ready to go,” says Kate.

katekate_campaign_blankets_atlantic_pink_2

The brand has branched out this season too with a new collection of 100 percent cotton, hand-loomed blankets and cushions, in crisp white. “I am in love our new season White Night throw and cushions. Hand woven, they are amazingly tactile and the perfect weight for summer. Oh, and there is a little bit of pom pom and tassel action too.  Joy!”

Bold prints: Alex Perry designs new range for Linen House

Seasoned fashion designer and Australia’s Next Top Model judge Alex Perry has collaborated with Linen House again to create a spring/summer 2016/17 bedroom collection that is big on drama. The collection combines bold, graphic prints with monochrome looks and plenty of colour too. As you’d expect from Alex, the overall look is a smart, tailored one.

The ‘Rumi’ quilt cover set – we love the emerald green

Inspired by far-flung spots such as the Caribbean and the bazaars of the East, the range has lots of large-scale patterns and is a lovely blend that produces an eclectic, modern mix.

Mix and match pineapple and Moroccan inspired cushions

“We all deserve a bedroom that relaxes yet inspires and uplifts us. For spring summer 2016/17, I’ve designed a collection that is airy and light without losing the positive energy of bold pattern. This season is all about creating an escape while keeping a sense of positivity,” says Alex.

ap-aires-black-qcs-h1
The ‘Aires’ quilt cover set

‘Aires’ draws on Alex’s Greek heritage with ancient Greek tile work the main inspiration. The design features a smart and timeless palette of black and white and is finished with a classic, tailored flange. Evoking a Caribbean villa, ‘Rumi’ is a large scale chevron print in black, white, emerald and aqua and the graphic printed reverse and classic bordered style make this a standout in the collection. This design also works back really well with a variety of cushions from the range — the pineapple and Moroccan prints in particular.

ap-avaza-blue-qcs-h1
The ‘Avaza’ quilt cover set

Featuring an over-sized Suzani print, the ‘Avaya’ quilt cover set is bold and elegant and conjures the captivating, azure blue of the Mediterranean and an exotic bazaar at the same time. An embroidered border and crisp, white tailored edge finishes the look.

Linen & Moore rebrand as L&M Home with fresh collection

Formerly known as Linen & Moore, L&M Home return this summer with a new name and collection of bed linen, throws, quilts, blankets, cushions and napery. “Our textile collections have evolved over the last 16 years to offer a broader range to a wider audience. We think there is a lot in a name, so we thought it was time for a refresh of the brand,” says design director Danielle Bowers.

The Phoenix quilt

“We offer beautiful textiles in natural fibres, for every room of the home, that are curated into two annual releases that span fashion-forward and fun-loving to the timeless and handcrafted. Our position in the Australian market is an extension of our philosophy, and that philosophy is to bring quality and everyday luxury to the home with high-end products at affordable prices.”

L&M_Summer17_018 copy

The new linen is certainly a highlight for us – we love its retro, hand-stitched details. “Being an avid collector of quilts, I can’t go past our charming new Phoenix quilt. I just love its timeless simplicity. It’s a delightful design that delivers a hint of nostalgia with its contrasting hand-stitched cross elements,” says Danielle of the quilt that is available in white with black cross stitch or white with flax cross stitch detailing.

L&M_Summer17_020 copy

“Summer 2016 offers a small collection of new designs and we’ve expanded on some of our favourites to include co-ordinates and our existing designs have been re-imagined in exciting new up-to-the-minute colour palettes. The emphasis is on lightweight linen and cotton textures in white and pretty pastel shades and the inspiration behind the new releases was a somewhat feminine aesthetic,” says Danielle.

Having been with the company for over a decade, Danielle loves many aspects of her job but particularly the travel opportunities. “As part of my job I get to travel with our director Anna Lofts to visit our quality manufacturers and special artisan communities in India. It’s a wonderfully inspiring and educational experience and essential to keeping abreast of what is happening in the exciting world of textiles today.”

Win latest Rachel Castle bedding in gorgeous slate linen

The new printed and plain slate linen bedding from Castle was designed with the boys in mind but could equally be styled up for girls (little ones or grown-ups)!
 RC-MASTER-EDITED-22_7
Rachel Castle says: “We’re so excited about our new slate 100% linens, such a bedding staple. We wanted to make something that the boys would like too for once, as we are very much known for our love of a floral and a spot!
quilt_linen_charcoal_960x560
“So you can make a pretty bed with the floral and spot pillowcases and some soft pastel velvets, or a more masculine bed with the new linen stripes. Give it as much or as little colour as you like.”
pillowcase_linen_jumbospot_960x650
As a mother of a teenage boy, Rachel herself struggled with what to put on his bed. “The simplicity of a slate linen — all that texture and crinkly goodness, cause he’s never going to keep it neat — with a black velvet pillowcase and a simple blue stripe, was perfect,” she said. “The slate also happily takes you all through spring to summer, still warm but crisp.”
pillowcase_linen_flora_960x650

I have to say readers, my Castle grey linen sheet and quilt cover is some of the nicest I’ve slept in. So soft!

Available in double, queen and king. Quilt cover from $235, sheet from $130 and pillowcases $59 each.

Annie Sloan’s gorgeous paint colours now available as fabrics

If you have even a passing interest in interiors, you’re no doubt aware of the famed British artist and decorative paint guru Annie Sloan. Much loved by up-cyclers the world over, Annie’s Chalk Paint (released in 1990), is the go-to product when revamping old furniture or homewares for its simple, primer-free application. Annie fans will be overjoyed to hear that the Brit has just released a range of 10 new cotton/linen blend fabrics that combine her most popular colours. And it’s no surprise that, like her popular chalk paints, the colour palette is pretty delectable.

unnamed copy

“Colour combinations are the linchpin to all my work, both for painted furniture and interiors. I don’t believe that colours exist on their own – they are part of the colour story. My new range of linens is, for me, a total triumph as at last I have woven fabrics dyed to match the exact colours from my paint range. I have chosen these colours carefully to make both vibrant and strong, as well as subtle and soft, combinations,” says Annie.

unnamed-2

The fabrics have been tumbled to ensure they have a super soft texture while remaining strong and durable enough for upholstery use. Also, because each fabric is a combination of two of Annie’s chalk paint colours, they are the perfect complement to her existing range.  So now, you can upcyle your favourite chair with a combination of Annie’s paint and fabric too!

unnamed-4

The combinations include Aubusson and Provence, Louis Blue and Graphite, French Linen and Old White, Scandinavian Pink and Provence, Emperor’s Silk and Florence, Coco and Duck Egg Blue, English Yellow and Antibes Green, Napoleonic Blue and Barcelona Orange, Emile and Graphite, Old White and Violet.

unnamed-5

With 25 books (printed in 11 languages) and an ever-expanding range of interior products stocked via 1,500 stockists across the world, Annie is quite the decorating gun.

New textile range inspired by Ford Coppola’s Italian palazzo

Inspired by a trip to Francis Ford Coppola’s dreamy 19th century southern Italian palazzo, artist Georgia Macmillan’s new range of textiles explores the many shades of Mediterranean blue, executed in her signature painterly strokes. “We went on a family holiday recently in the southern Italian Basilicata region where the days are slow and the gelato store is always open!” says Georgia of the enviable experience that kick-started her latest range. “We stayed at Palazzo Margherita which is owned and operated by the film maker Francis Ford Coppola and his family.”

g

“It was overcast when we stayed so I worked with a watercolour palette of deep inky ocean blues and steely greys to represent the clouds rolling in over the villa,” says Georgia of the collection that consists of 100 per cent linen cushions, table cloths and napkins featuring the artist’s original watercolour art digitally printed onto fabric.

Georgia Macmillan Linen Cushions stack

“A touch of peach and burnt orange was added to reflect the palazzo courtyard colours proving inspiration can come from anywhere!”

Georgia Macmillan Linen Inky Smudge tablecloth

Fans of Georgia’s work will be excited to hear that, alongside the Bernalda collection, she’s added a baby bedding range to her offering too. 100 per cent cotton, the gorgeous range features cot quilts in pink or blue with gorgeous star cushions to match. We think they’d make a fabulous newborn gift.

GE-572

Cot quilts & matching star cushions

Aside from her work as an artist and homewares/textiles creator, Georgia is also the lifestyle editor of The Grace Tales – a position that comes naturally given her background in news broadcast journalism and luxury PR. Australian-born, Georgia moved to Dubai a few years ago. The move coincided with motherhood and allowed her the creative space to pick up the paintbrushes, indulge her artistic passions, and start her brand.

Stylish and affordable new Australian linen bedding

A classic bedding textile, linen is having a major resurgence in popularity of late and we couldn’t be happier. Once you get past any OCD tendencies and accept the crumple factor (it is after all, part of the charm!) there’s nothing quite like the old-fashioned luxury of sleeping on pure linen. Not only does it feel lovely and natural on the skin but it gets softer and more beautiful with each wash. What’s not to love?!

unspecified-2

Lamb & Stine linen bedding

Not only does frequent washing improve linen bedding but sunlight does too. In addition, the sun will fade linen sheets and give them a lovely lived-in patina that can only happen in an organic way. Made from the flax plant, which is fast growing and highly renewable, linen also won’t lint or pill. The natural fibre makes it lovely and breathable in the warmer months too.

12_0030

Rectangl linen bedding

With a decidedly modern take on the trend, Rectangl and Lamb & Stine are two new Australian brands specialising in quality, affordable linen bedding. Rectangl’s linen bedding is made from 100% French flax linen and comes in an array of neutral plains and stripes too. A great range to mix and match with a contrasting sheet, we love the oversized branded linen tote that the sheet sets come in – a great storage idea.

The creation of best friends Sharnee Lamb and Justine Radnedge, Lamb & Stine started their brand with a stall at a Brisbane market but have recently opened a fully-fledged online offering. We love their modern printed linen cushion range – the geometric designs and piped ones in particular.

My bedroom makeover + win a $1,000 west elm voucher for yours!

Sponsored by west elm

JenBishop_web_jacquiturk-1

We recently bought our first home in Sydney and have been slowly but surely adding our touches to it. The biggest job is a full bathroom reno and we’ve just locked that down so you can follow its progress in the new few months! Onto less involved projects, and I was keen to make the most of our beautiful master bedroom. It’s spacious and light-filled with two windows, and is definitely the largest bedroom Damian and I have ever had.

JenBishop_web_jacquiturk-4

When we moved from our last place, I got ruthless at chucking out what I didn’t need or love. Bed, drawers and desk aside, it was a pretty blank canvas in the bedroom. We had it painted (Resene’s Black White) before we moved in, and installed new floors (natural oak laminate from Darren Palmer’s Provincial Lane range for Carpet Court) and it was just crying out for those extra layers of warmth, texture, colour and interest. I couldn’t think of a store I’d rather team up with to transform it than west elm as I pretty much love everything they do, so when they asked me, I leapt at the chance to work with them to turn my bedroom into a grown-up sanctuary (and the one place we try and keep the baby’s toys out of)! I’ve also recently moved a secretaire desk into the bedroom and when our part-time nanny starts, I plan on sometimes hiding in there to work!

JenBishop_web_jacquiturk-12

Their Design Services stylist, Brendan Nash, asked me what sort of look I was after before providing a mood board. I immediately loved almost everything on it, so after making a few tweaks, I left it all in his capable hands until makeover day! It was so exciting to have a professional style my bedroom; what a treat!

Regular readers will know my favourite colour is navy, which is convenient for a couple’s room because it’s nice and unisex! I also love gold accents and have them throughout our home, from my sofa legs to cabinet handles, accessories and so on. I wanted the room to feel calm and cosy, conducive to both relaxing and sleeping and focusing to write at my desk.

JenBishop_web_jacquiturk-6

I think you’ll agree, he nailed it! I absolutely love our new room and have found myself going to bed early a lot because I’m so keen to hang out in there! I also swear my bed is more confortable thanks to its new linen, although I’m not sure if this is in my head or the reality?! I’m also a definite convert to the top sheet, something I have never seen the point of having before with a doona! With winter drawing in, it was the perfect time to transform this space into a warm and inviting boudoir!

JenBishop_web_jacquiturk-11

I love the layered rug look (something I wouldn’t have been brave enough to try myself) and while I don’t think I’d have picked the bedsides myself, they’re a surprise hit! I love the texture and warmth added by the reclaimed timber, but the white lacquer is modern and light and easily wipe clean. I love the roomy drawer to hide away all those essentials, and the space underneath for books and mags.

It was a real luxury to have my bed made to look like one out of a magazine spread and I watched Brendan and his colleague Naomi Young carefully, making mental notes. I absolutely love the feel and laid back luxe look of linen but had never thought of choosing it in navy before, always playing it safe with white. I really love the colour injection in this room. Cleverly, the only touches of pink are in the one cushion and the flowers, so if I want to change the pink to a different accent colour down the track it’ll be really easy (and let’s face it, everything goes with navy!).

If you have a little bedroom envy (and frankly, I couldn’t blame you!), then listen up, because west elm are giving you the chance to win a $1,000 voucher to spend on goodies for your own home. Simply enter using the form below by midnight Sydney time on 25 May 2016.

We love: Charlie & Fenton’s range of watercolour print linen

Inspired by the city of Melbourne, textile studio Charlie & Fenton’s new range ‘Urban Jungle’ features a gorgeous collection of painterly designs.

_16.02.29_Charlie&Fenton_Product_0108

“It’s a collection of table linens and tea towels that centre around what it looks and feels like to live, love and entertain in Melbourne,” says Jannah Stevens of Charlie & Fenton.

_16.02.29_Charlie&Fenton_Product_0203

The bespoke prints are designed and hand-painted before being transposed into digital form and then printed onto luxe Belgian linens and natural fibre base-cloths.

_16.02.29_Charlie&Fenton_Product_0293

“We believe that entertaining should be fun, exciting and stylish and that, for a short while each day, the dining table can become an uninterrupted oasis of serenity and good times for family and friends,” says Jannah.

_16.02.29_Charlie&Fenton_Product_0255

After decade long careers in set design, textile technology and interior design, Jannah and her business partner Isabella, created their independent textile studio. “We were looking for something more in our creative lives and we knew we wanted to offer people high quality, unique soft furnishings in a market that is so saturated with throw-away poorly made goods,” says Jannah.

Haymes and Etsy team up for perfect colour collaboration

The recent collaboration between Haymes Paint and Etsy is definitely worth getting excited about. Fabulous colours combined with beautiful handmade products? What’s not to love!

Gemmola_Haymes_ColourLibrary71505

At the root of this collaboration is Haymes’ desire to change the way they release colours. Shifting from set release dates for ranges, they are developing a ‘Colour Library’, where new hues will be released as they become relevant to the style scene.

Wendy Rennie, colour and concept manager at Haymes, says the rise of digital platforms is changing how people access trends. “We are seeing a more fluid environment when it comes to colours and trends. The Colour Library allows us to move away from putting a date on colour.”

Gemmola_Haymes_ColourLibrary71568

To help celebrate the launch of this innovative way of releasing colours, Haymes teamed up with Etsy. What better partner than the online marketplace of creativity and individual design itself?

Gemmola_Haymes_ColourLibrary71662

Haymes were inspired to work with Etsy after seeing the breadth of beautiful and unique talent available from the site’s artisans. They gave 11 local Etsy makers the colour palette of Curate (the first of seven volumes in the library) and encouraged them to run free with it.

The results are stunning. The artists have brought the library to life, making gorgeous ceramics, textiles and artworks with the blue, coral, tan and cement hues (as the swatches below show).

What’s even nicer is that each product and colour combination has a unique backstory, reflecting the diverse background of Etsy’s makers.

Bea Bellingham, for example, is a ceramicist from Sydney. Her playful range of homewares is gorgeous, using the Curate colours to create a fun 100s and 1000s pattern. They really look like fairy bread! Pictured below, the bottom left ceramic cup.

Alistair Birrell, better known as Mr Draper, has used the natural hues to create beautiful homespun textiles (see the rust cloth pictured above). Tired of the disposable nature of cloth homewares, he was inspired to join Etsy to create something more long-lasting. Originally a military man, his pieces are both beautiful and, to use his words, “ruthlessly practical”.

Curate was launched in Sydney this week. With six more libraries to be released, the potential for even more exciting colours and collaborations only grows.

Kip & Co’s new AW16 collection has a touch of magic

Brimming with bold prints, a gorgeous colour palette and signature quirk, it would seem it’s business as usual for Kip & Co with their Autumn Winter 2016 collection.

“The Stardust collection has something a bit fantastical and magical about it. It’s also got a very feminine soft colour palette that works with the season’s stone fruit, soft rose, burnt brandy, grape and silver,” says Hayley Pannekoecke, of Kip & Co.

Along with a great range of sleepwear, the brand has added travel bags to its line-up for the first time. “They are the ultimate weekender bag and they feature leather trims, brass hardware and Kip & Co detailing. They’re the perfect accessory for the memory-making wanderer,” says Hayley of the bags that come either entirely in leather or in printed or plain waxed canvas with leather trim.

“Every season, we take inspiration from the things going on in our world. From the little moments to the big adventures, trinkets we pick up at markets, and things our kids doodle,” says Hayley. And with so many children around them, it makes sense that the range features plenty for the little ones too – this season, fans will be able to purchase bassinet sheets for the first time. “They are a great alternative to the safe, sweet, traditional baby stuff.”

We’re particularly fond of the multi-purpose quilted floor mats which are available in a number of new prints.

“There really isn’t anything else like the floor mats around – they’re perfect for home and great to pop in your bag if you’re heading over to a mate’s place to show off your rug rat. They’re practical and stylish which is a pretty good combo!” says Hayley.

Diehard fans of the brand will be excited to see there is plenty of the brand’s signature velvet in the new collection too.

KipCoAW16-1065

“Velvet pillows have basically changed my life! There is nothing like sleeping on velvet. There’s something about the depth of colour and texture of velvet that you just can’t compete with and as we move into winter, it’s the ultimate friend to keep you snug at night.”

Swiss Kathrin introduces jersey bed sheets to Australia

Commonly found in Europe, knitted jersey fitted bed sheets are a great bedding alternative as they’re breathable, wrinkle-resistant and don’t require ironing — hurrah! But after conducting market research, It-fits designer and managing director Kathrin Bickel, discovered that the sheets weren’t available anywhere in Australia.

“My parents have lived in Australia for many years and it was actually my mother who complained to me that she couldn’t find knitted jersey fitted sheets there – the kind they grew up with and loved in Switzerland,” says Swiss-born, Hong-Kong based Kathrin.

In response to the gap in the market, Kathrin, along with It-fits creative director Jan Van Wezemael, have launched a range of comfy knitted jersey fitted bed sheets made from 100% Australian cotton.

Aside from the comfort factor, we are most excited about the brand’s patented Magic Corners system of colour-coded loops that sit in the corners of each sheet that make fitting it onto the bed, and folding it for storage, super easy.

The range of fitted bed sheets and pillow cases is available in 11 colours – white, charcoal, dune, sky blue, lavender, navy, cobalt blue, aqua, hibiscus, fuchsia and chartreuse.

Contrary to common perception, a jersey sheet isn’t hot and heavy because it’s knitted and not woven, meaning there are more gaps for the air to circulate. Consequently it’s a very breathable fabric, ideal for the Australian climate.

“Our big, bold mission is to bring knitted jersey fitted bed sheets to Australia. Such sheets are the most popular and commonly used sheets in Europe, for the simple reason that they’re incredibly comfortable all year round, and so easy to handle. We’re proud to be the first brand to offer such a product, tailored to Australian bed sizes,” says Kathrin.
